Shame on You Glen and Rush - Let Massa Go Away

Eric Massa, the now former congressman from New York, is getting all kinds of attention from conservatives.  Rush said on his radio show that he wants to make this a national story and Glen Beck will be interviewing him for the full hour on his Fox News show later today.  Hannity and Levin talked up his controversial statements as well.  This man is a disgrace not only to New York, but to all of us.  This is the type of person we elect to high public office in this country?

Eric Massa can't even keep to the same story.  First it was for health reasons that he was stepping down, then it because he is being forced out by the democrats in order to pass the health care "reform" bill.  If he truly believes that he is the only way to stop this bill from passing then why is walking away?  He was not forced to resigned.  He left on his own accord.

He has only been in office since last January.  In that time he has not gotten one piece of legislastion to the floor.  According to the reporting of Michelle Malkin:

“He’s been a progressive zealot and political opportunist his entire career,” Malkin wrote Monday afternoon. “He’s claimed conspiracy before, is intimately bonded with the nutroots and climbed the political ladder with backing from the odious, anti-war-hoaxer-embracing Gen. Wesley Clark. What Massa dismissively calls his ‘salty old sailor’ talk should raise bright-red flags about possible long-standing predatory behavior.”

While his statements make good theater, he is nothing but yet another disgraced politican that doesn't deserve this 15 minutes of fame.  Let this sad, disgraced little man go away.  The last thing that conservatives should be doing at this point is giving this nutjob a stage.

I'm willing to give Massa the benefit of the doubt. Maybe you're right about him, but I'm not so sure. I'll watch his interview with beck tomorrow and see. Oh, and I heard Rush today. He didn't say he WANTED to make this a national story (though admittedly if he didn't want to he wouldn't have) but he did say that in order for this message to get out, it would have to BECOME a national story.

Did Massa himself say it was for health reasons he was stepping down?

Yes he did last week. I seem to remember him saying that he had "terminal" cancer, but what I have read today only said that he had cancer. I also saw a timeline of his accusations and they don't add up to what he is saying now.

You are correct, he could very well be telling the truth, but I find it highly unlikely. His story has too many holes in it. Also, we don't even know for sure, what the ethics violation that he is being investigated for. No details have been released.

Massa was reported last week to have stepped down for health reasons. Now, whether HE said that, or it was REPORTED that he said that, I don't know. The two can be quite different events, you know.

Hi there, just thought I would stop by and say hello ... HELLO ! I have never heard of this guy before, but I have to say, "why run away ?" He is supposed to tell us tonight what kind of threats he received. I'll wait just a little longer before I dump on the guy completely ... stay tuned.

Welcome to conservative girl. Let's just think about one thing........He is saying that he is being investigated for workplace harassment, he then describes the event taking place at a wedding reception. Doesn't workplace harrassment have to happen at the workplace? This is only his story, there has been no official release of what the investigation is really about. Since he has resigned we will never know. The guy sounds like an unbalanced nut.

He claims the event happened at a wedding, but he made the inappropiate comment to one of his staffers. (So, it then could become workplace harassment.)
Look, this guy has every reason to just go along with the Obama Administration's agenda, if he was TRULY just an opportunist. It doesn't make sense that he is stepping down for his own gain, and makes total sense that Rahm would treat him the way Massa claims.
Yes, this guy has no place in elected office, HOWEVER, he WAS elected. And if what he claims really did happen, I think it is VERY important that people know about it.

If he is really against Obamacare, quitting is cowardly.

If he is a leftist progressive, we are better off without him in the long run.

If he is a liar, he needs to go home.

I was listening to Glenn Beck yesterday when he first heard the audio of Massa trashing Emanuel and all the rest of it. Glenn heard things that he believes proves what he (Glenn) has been saying all along has been happening in DC. I also think Glenn jumped the gun and should have found out more information on Massa before inviting him on the TV show for an hour (that's just my opinion). Glenn has also given people like Rob Blago (I'm not going to try to spell it) an hour on his show. Now that Glenn is committed to the hour with Massa, he has to make the best of it (again my opinion, but I do think Glenn got a little too excited when he first heard the soundbites of Massa). It seemed this morning that Glenn is backing away from the "excitement" and going with the "Massa should be heard and then you can make up your own mind".
I heard Rush clarify his stand on Massa today and think he (Rush) thinks the stories about Rahm, etc. being told by a Dem is great, but he's not saying Massa should be embraced by conservatives...no way. He said Massa is a "loose cannon"...makes the Dems look even worse.

Well, I watched the interview and it was a big waste of time. Massa rambled on and on about how he was being treated, didn't tell us anything new and didn't even name any names about the corrupting we KNOW is happening in DC.

I wish it had been what I was hoping it would be: a calling out of the Democrats and Republicans who are draining this country of the freedoms that made us the greatest country on earth. It wasn't. It was Massa rambling on and on about the charges leveled against him. The one part that actually rang true with me was when he said he was tired of fighting. He just didn't have it in him to call out the Dems and stand for his principals, which saddened me somewhat. I thought this would be the moment when it finally came to a head for the democrats.

I thought it was a waste of time, the interview, and I thought he's a weasel but he did clarify some of the misconceptions about where and what and when, etc....don't you all think?

He said his cancer situation was preventing him from running AGAIN, not stepping down...

I thought Beck was surprisingly unsupportive, considering I"ve been saying for a year it'll be the Dems who finally expose Obama for what he is...here we had a great chance and ....it didn't pan out somehow.

The POINT is Rahm's disgusting baiting and attacks to this guy just for not voting their way, and that had to be exposed......

The part of about Rahm I believe. That has never been my issue. It is very well known that Rahm has a filthy mouth and he is very aggressive.

It is the rest of the story is what I have problems with. I didn't watch the interview as I was busy. My DVR tapes the 2AM showing, I may watch it tomorrow if I have time. I just think we (conservatives) need to stay above the frey and let the dems implode. They seem to be doing a good job all by themselves, we need to just sit back and let it happen. Getting into bed with someone as sleezy as this guy seems to be will do nothing but cause us problems in the end.
