I actually thought Anderson Cooper did a half way decent job.  He even got into the race issues in this story, which should be told.  Why did this doctor treat the white women differently than the minority women?  
But the truth is this, had this story been as widely reported as say the Jodi Arias trial, the discussion about abortion "rights" would be as hot as a topic as gun rights.  We don't want that to happen do we media?

What About Our Families Mr. President?

CNN has done documentaries on both Gov. Romney and President Obama.  The one for Gov. Romney I thought was well done, very fair and balanced.  The one for President Obama has not aired yet.  It will be airing tonight at 8pm.  Today in an appearance on their Sunday morning chat show, Jessica Yellin revealed that President Obama has not done more outreach to republicans because he wants to spend more time at home as a family.  I give him a great deal of credit for wanted to be a hands on dad.  That is a wonderful thing.  I mean that sincerely.  He brought those two girls into the world and he is responsible for them.  They deserve to have a childhood.

I was given more than a little grief when I stuck up for Malia's trip to Mexico last year.  Malia and Sasha go to a private school that is very involved in social justice.  Once you reach middle school there is a week called minimester, the week before spring break, no classroom work is done.  You spend the week doing community service.  Every year the school does some of that community service oversees.  Malia went on the oversees trip to Mexico.  Many on the right went crazy, calling it a waste of tax payer money.  My opinion all along was that she had the right to her childhood without the media glare and people who have never met her or care about her making decisions about her life.

I also took a great deal of crap for saying that I didn't think that Sarah Palin should have run for president this year.  I feel that Trig and Piper are too young to be in that type of fishbowl.  I firmly believe this.  People that have very young children should not be in The White House.  Simple things, such as trick or treating become next to impossible with the amount of security that is involved.  I said this about President Obama four years ago.  His daughters are too young.

I am sorry Mr. President, if being a hands on dad was the priority for you at this point in your life, you should not have run for president.   We didn't come to you.   You worked hard at convincing people who you should be one to get that job.  You announced for president in February 07, a full 21 months before the election.  Your youngest child Sasha was only 5 years old at the time.  You didn't think then that you needed to be home evenings and weekends?

Again, I applaud the fact that he wants to be there for his children in a way his own father was not for him.  Wonderful.  But, Mr. President what about our children?  We have had high unemployment since you have taken office.  People have lost their homes.  People are working two-part times jobs to make ends meet, because they can't find a full-time position.  Poverty is rising around the country.  People on some form of government entitlements is at an all time high.

The job of president is 7/24/365 position.  You are always on call.  Everything that you and your family does is put under a microscope.  Your privacy is limited as your schedule is reported daily.  We have the right Mr. President to someone who is going to put all of his energies into the job.  I am sorry, but the job of president doesn't leave much time for a private life.  If you wanted a private life, you should have chosen another position.  While it is unfair, I don't care about your families needs.  I care about my own.  Your promises to the people during your campaign was that you were going to change the acrimony that goes on in Washington.  You were going change the tone, do things differently.  You never mentioned during that time that you wouldn't be going out and doing what needed to be done because you would rather spend time playing video games or whatever you do during your family hours.

I stand by my past comments of people with young children not running for President.  It isn't fair to the children, and it isn't fair to me.  You have spent the last four years saying that the republicans wouldn't work with you, they have been nothing by obstructionists.  Well, Mr. President it takes two to tango.  It is such a shame that your dance card was full.

Even Jessica Yellin at CNN asked:

“If this was such a priority, why didn’t he do it? You can carve out one night a week to go out and socialize and reach across the aisle.”

Apparently not.  I am sorry, but this comment shows full well why this man doesn't deserve re-election.  Our families are far less important than his own.  He begged for this job, the least he could have done was made an attempt to do what was necessary to do it well.

I have a tea party acquaintance that lives in D.C.; she volunteers her time to do tutoring to under-privileged children. Once the voucher system came back, she asked one of the mothers if she wanted some help in filling out the application for the lottery. The woman told her she didn't want her son going to some white school because he wouldn't learn how to fight. This decision by this woman is now putting her young son in the position that he has barely over a 50% chance of getting a high school diploma, based on dropout rates. His chances of getting a college education is even less. How is racism to blame for this? This is a mindset. Exactly what Herman Cain is trying to change. A change that the likes of Belafonte and Sharpton want to prevent

Where was the outrage when we heard people saying he should be strung up and have his toes cut off?  Oh, that is right - there wasn't any.

Yeah, Mr. Belcher I would say there is a double standard.  The left can hurl any comment that they want against any conservative that doesn't happen to be a white male, and Anderson Cooper doesn't have a segment on it. 

Do you think that this may be the reason why black Americans stay away from republicans?  Or maybe that is exactly the point.

‘President Obama Scares Them Every Single Day’






Michele Bachmann's performance was much improved over last week. She also didn't look like she had bed head, so that was a help too. I personally think she went too far with the Gardasil attack. I think many in the country don't necessarily object to the drug, but do object to the mandatory nature of shot. Personally, my biggest objection is that he did by executive order. That doesn't sit well with me.






Rick Santorum is very good debater. He still has no shot at the nomination, but he would make a solid VP pick, especially if the worst possible scenario of Huntsman getting the nomination comes to pass.






Huntsman should be hanging his head in absolute shame when asked about how women are treated under the Taliban basically he said, it sucks to be you, now go away. Disgraceful.






As usual Romney avoided all the tough questions and did no damage. He didn't win, but he didn't lose.






Herman Cain had some very good moments. But, a Tea Party audience is tailored made for him. I dont' think it will bring him up to the next tier of candidates, but it will help with his fundraising I am sure.






Ron Paul, was well, Ron Paul. If you agree with him, you think he did great. If you are not inclined to agree with him he looked like a fool.






The biggest loser was Rick Perry. He had a hard time defending himself against the attacks that came from all angles tonight. He did especially bad on the Gardasil issue. He said he was offended that Bachmann thought he could be bought off for $5,000. It almost sounded like he could be bought off for a higher amount. (not saying that is true, but it sounded a tad like that, to me anyway). I personally agree with him on the fence issue. It would be outrageously expensive and wouldn't be all that effective. They would just dig under it, the drug tunnels are testament to that. But he will have some problems on immigration. He is perceived as weak on that issue. I met someone recently who grew up in Texas in a small town. Due to where she lived and the land her parents have she told me that like it or not, the right needs to accept a worker's visa. They are necessary. She said that people who don't live it, have a different view of the immigration problem than the governor of a border state will. She is a conservative who doesn't want to see amnesty, but has a perspective that I certainly don't understand living in the mid atlantic and in an urban setting.






Did Perry lose badly enough to lose the nomination? No. But he needs to improve if he wants to keep his frontrunner status.

I Don't Know About Roland Martin, But I Fear Obama

Roland Martin wrote an OP-ED for CNN based on the premise that Obama's problem is that no one fears him. Umm, Mr. Martin he scares the living crap out of me.


But this is coming from a man who sees nothing wrong with him trying to schedule a speech on the economy on the same night of the GOP debate.

After his Martha's Vineyard vacation, President Obama signaled he was ready to do battle leading up to the 2012 re-election. But the bungling, and eventual capitulation, over when he would address a joint session of Congress to present a jobs plan shows that we have seen more of the same: a decisive action taken by Obama, only to back down and acquiesce to the GOP.


After Obama buckled to Speaker John Boehner by postponing the speech to Thursday, a hardcore Democrat, who hates anything the GOP does and has never voted for a Republican for president, texted me the following: "Does the POTUS need back surgery? I think he does. He needs a spine transplant."

The debate has been planned for months. Like it or not Mr. Rowland this is part of the democratic process in this country. There are plenty of people who are interested in what the GOP candidates have to say. By trying to schedule the speech at the same time the president was showing that he has no respect for the process, his opponents, let alone the American people who want to watch the debate. Would Mr. Martin feel the same had President Bush tried to do the same thing during one of the democratic debates four years ago? Some how I think not. Then to top it off and make it worse, Carney comes out and says the date and time was coincidental. Uh huh, I am sure it was. This was nothing but a stunt pure and simple. A stunt that backfired, and now Mr. Martin is trying to blame for the GOP for it.


He is also pointing to the fact that one of his candidates to head the Consumer Protection Bureau will actually have to go through a senate confirmation hearing. The horror.

The White House bowed to Republicans in the Senate in not appointing Elizabeth Warren as head of the Consumer Protection Bureau. She was considered enemy No. 1 for them. So by appointing Richard Cordray, the Obama administration hoped the Senate would recess, allowing them to make his appointment effective during the recess. There was one tiny problem: The only thing the GOP hated more than Warren was the bureau itself. They didn't recess, and now Cordray will be put through the wringer on Tuesday during his Senate confirmation hearing.

The problem is the president never appointed her. She was given a totally different job and will be the likely opponent to Scott Brown next year as he tries to hang onto his senate seat. It would be very hard to run a government agency while being a first time candidate for senate would it not Mr. Martin? If you like her so much you should be glad that she got passed over because she could very well end up taking over where Teddy left off. Agency heads should always go through a senate confirmation hearing. Period. I don't care which party the president is from. The American people have the right to expect our elected officials to fulfill the constitutional duties afforded to them and confirming heads of agencies is one of them.


But, this has to be my favorite:

It is abundantly clear that President Obama is unwilling to fire back at his critics, who disrespect him and the office of the president. He wants to take the high ground, while his critics are ripping the ground out from underneath him. Instead of taking charge of his agenda, he is willing to let others blow him off to pursue their own

How delusional is Roland Martin? Let us see, he himself has played the race card about the tea party. President Obama slammed a private citizen basically to his face while at the correspondent's dinner when he spent a good portion of his speech going after Donald Trump. Remember when Bagdad Bob Gibbs showed some notes he wrote on his hand in order to stick it Sarah Palin? I guess Roland Martin forgot that. This president is one of the most thin-skinned we have ever had.

Some Notes from the Peanut Gallery

I have not been able to pay as close attention to the debt limit crisis as I normally would.  Life has gotten in the way.  Today I was trying to do some reading to see what I missed.  Not all that much really, they seem to be in the same place they were a few weeks ago.  Just closer to date of "doom" according to the left.

I did across an article about the Tea Party influence in this debate.  The article is about what one would expect on CNN.  But I always find the comments to be the best part.  I came across this one:

I have a few questions. 1. Since when did this country need a "Super Congress" to know the difference between spending within your means and spending out of control! ? 2. Since when did the "Tea Potty" think they were "The peoples Potty"? 3. And last but not least, just what makes the wealthiest so high and mighty that they, can't or won't, support the country that made them wealthy? Can the 2 seperate Republican enities explain these?

Just exactly what country are they serving? I know it can not be America! They are traitors, liers, and they call themselves faith based. These biggots are self serving with NO intentions to serve this country but only those outside of the lawmakers rhelm to make themselves more rich off the working peoples back. What a disgusting group of trash to represent this Country!

OK, 1. Apparently Congress does need someone or something to explain living within your means.  They have not been doing it for decades.  2. The Tea Party is mainly a group of everyday citizens saying they have had enough.  I have never been paid to go to any protest.  I have never been given money to get there, everything that I have done has been taking time off from work (I only work part time so it is easier for me) and getting myself to DC on my own.  Granted I don't live far so there is not much money involved here.  Really just parking and gas for me.  3. The wealthiest of Americans do pay the vast majority of the bills in this country.  I don't know what it will take to get the people on the left to accept that.  Almost half of the people in this country pay no income tax at all.  They pay payroll taxes and end up with a refund at the end of the year.  Who do you think is putting money into the treasury?  Do you think the money comes from the tooth fairy?  It is not unreasonable to demand that congress be responsible with our money.  Presently they are not.  We don't live within our means and that is the reason for the tea party. 

The vast majority of people I know that are involved in the tea party are middle class people who struggle with money issues.  Just like the majority of Americans.  I know of one who has told me on several occasions she really struggles with money every month.  Things are tight for her and her husband.  I know people in the tea party who are single and renters.  I know people who are just starting out in their lives.  Only out of college a few years.  I know several people who are in the medical field and what drove them to the tea party was Obamacare.  They know what is going to happen to our medical care in this country when this fully takes hold.  (If is more like it).  I know some military people who have defended this country for a small amount of money who are really worried about the direction we are going in.  One of which has spent time in a war zone.  His voice has the right to be heard. 

Yeah I agree that far too many people in congress make themselves rich off the tax payer.  You should be in the tea party not calling them racists.  We believe that too. 

Open your eyes to what is happening in this country and then maybe you can get your head out of your ass long enough to realize that Tea Party is trying to stop this country from spending more on interest than it does on education every year.  You are against fighting for that?  But, I am the stupid one?  Yeah, you jerk, we spend more on interest every year than we do to educate our young. 

So it Begins - The Palinazation of Bachmann

Everyone on the right knew that Bachmann would get the PDS (Palin Derangement Syndrome) treatment once her polls numbers started to climb.  Everyone on the right knew that her poll numbers would climb.  Not because she is some sort of lock for the nomination, but because Bachmann isn't afraid to say what the base wants to hear.  She stands up and says that Obama must be a one term president, she stands up and says that we, as a nation, are in real trouble if we don't get our spending under control.  She stands up; and the Tea Party and the religious right love her for it.  It was just a matter of time for her poll numbers to reflect that.

Well, she is now polling second in Iowa behind Romney.  She is only 1 point behind him and they have quite a lead over the third place Herman Cain.  Congresswoman Bachmann made her "official" announcement yesterday in her birthplace in Waterloo, Iowa.  A place that John Wayne's family did live in briefly by the way.  She personalized that town with stories of her time in the elementary school and the street she grew up on.  Stories of her mom and her dad, and wove that into a narrative about middle America and the dreams that we still hold dear.  Dreams that she hopes to get government out of the way so we can pursue again. 

I was reading some of the coverage as I missed most of the speech yesterday.  I came across this article on a CNN blog.  The post was more about Bachmann's dedication to her faith than the announcement.  The question they are asking is she the Evangelical Feminist.  Bachmann, like myself, is a Evangelical Lutheran.  She prays daily and believes that God is instrumental in how she lives her life and gives her guiding force for the direction her life takes.  A concept that the far left and at least some in media find abhorrent.  The article itself isn't overly anti-Bachmann nor is it overly anti-Christian. 

But take a look at the photo they decided to use:

This photo is so unflattering.  Regardless of where you may fall on the political spectrum and if you agree with her political stances, Bachmann is a very attractive 50-something woman.  I have more wrinkles than she does and I am a decade younger.  She obviously takes very good care of herself and this is the photo that they choose? 

This photo is designed to make her look bad.  Even though the coverage in the article seems fair minded, they have to get that dig in any way they can.  I know because that is what I have done from time to time.  I find the most unflattering photo I can find of say Nanny Pelosi to demonstrate my point.  So you can't convince me that she isn't the intention of CNN. 

Bachmann will made to look almost demonic because of her religious and political views.  Women in general get treated this way by the media and it just gets that much worse when that woman is pro-life, religious, and a member of the GOP. 

If you really want to see how we now have BDS (Bachmann Derangement Syndrome) go take a look at the comments under this article.  People are sick, especially when it comes to a person being open about their faith in God. 

As a side note, I love it when liberals tell the truth:  One commenter said:

A feminist believes women have the right to choose... therefore, Bachmann is not a feminist. Story done.

So, it is true that feminism is now only about one issue; abortion.  Thanks for the confirmation.

The CNN Debate

Just some quick thoughts as I don't have a great deal of time. 

I think that Michele Bachman did a great job.  She sometimes has a habit of getting her facts a little mixed up, but not tonight.  She showed that she is able to stay on topic and answer questions with quick soundbites that get to the point. 

I think that Tim Pawlenty was the big winner tonight.  He came across as likable, knowledgeable, and a good conservative.  Job well done. 

Newt showed why he has been described as the brain or the idea guy.  He is in his element in a debate format and tonight was no exception.  The big down side was that he outright lied in my opinion.  He is sticking to his ridiculous story that what he said about Paul Ryan was taken out of context.  It was a live interview Newt, we ain't buying what you are trying to sell with this one.  You just made yourself look dishonest. 

Herman Cain I think was one of the biggest losers.  Not because of his answers, just that he wasn't given much of a chance to speak.  The questions went mainly to Romney, Newt, and Pawlenty.  I guess these are the three that CNN has deigned the viable candidates for the nomination.  Overall his performance was strong, just not nearly enough face time. 

Ron Paul was Ron Paul.  I agree with much of what he would do on fiscal policy, but he loses me on social issues and foreign policy. 

Romney was doing his somersaults about Romneycare or as Pawlenty's newest phrase Obamney Care.  Not happening Mitt.  I am not buying it, you seem unwilling to sign a all out repeal and nothing less is acceptable.  Screw this waiver idea of yours. 

Rick Santorum also did pretty well, he showed he can debate with the rest of the field.  Santorum is out for me, I will not vote for him even if he is the nominee so I don't really care what he has to say. 

What I did find refreshing is that they talked about some of the third rail topics.  Ethanol and entitlement reform.  We need to open and honest to the American people, we are broke and it is time we take on the tough and scary subjects.  We are almost out of road and can no longer just the kick the can.  The right needs to talk openly and honestly about these topics and not allow the media and the left to turn this into throwing granny over the cliff scenario.  Oh, wait they already did that.
