I am guessing that McChrystal Will Be Annoucing His Retirment This Week

I am laying odds for Thursday.  What about you?
What a colossally stupid thing to do.

Well he is no politician, is he. I'm sure one of Obama's effeminate academics can take his place as general. No problem.

If he were politician he could get away with saying what he did.

I am stunned that a military man would make those type of comments on the record about the President. He worked many years and he just threw his life's work away. Dumb, dumb, and dumb

It reminds me of MacArthur.

So honsesty is stupid now? NO.

If the general is saying these things publically it signals to me the entire military leadership is seeing and feeling what the rest of us are and this spells big trouble for Hussein not for McCrystal.

Christopher:
You are missing the point. There is a chain of command in the military and a code of ethics, and he violated them.

He can be court martialed for what he said about the Vice President alone. No commissioned officer is allowed to publically say negative comments about the civilian leaders of the military. This includes the VP and the Sec. of defense among others.

Just because you agree with what he said doesn't mean that he had the right to say it. They do not have the same rights to free speech that we do.

Uniform Code of Military Justice’s penalty of court martial for “any commissioned officer [using] contemptuous words” against the civilian chain of command

He has to follow the chain of command, no one in this country should expect any less of our military.
