Questions for the President Part 2

I have some additional questions that I would like to ask President Obama:



Why do you believe that United States has the right to say what Israel's borders should be? Don't you think they have a much better feel for what their defense needs are then we do?


When Netanyahu was talking to the press in the oval office during a press availability, the camera panned over to your face. It looked like you had nothing but contempt for him. Is that true, and if so, why?


You have recently hired a Director of Progressive Media and Online Response. It would seem that this position is set up to do opposition research for your upcoming re-election campaign. Isn't that something that should be paid for by the DNC or your campaign and not the American taxpayers?


After the death of bin Laden, you said you didn't want to release the photos because Americans don't need to "spike the football". You and your administration then went out and talked about it in length and more detail than I personally felt was necessary. How would releasing the photos be spiking the football more than you already were. (I am against releasing the photos by the way).


Many people in the democratic party made a very big deal of the Seal Six team while President Bush was still in office. Some went as far to call them Cheney's murder squad. Do you find that to be hypocritical now that your party is lauding their accomplishment, or were they simply wrong when they said these things?


Come to find out, bin Laden was wearing only underwear (therefore making a suicide belt very unlikely) when the seals entered his bedroom and was unarmed. Was the mission always a shoot to kill? If so, was that done so you wouldn't have to make the choice of where to jail him and how to try him?


During the memorial service in Missouri after the damage from the tornado people in the audience were yelling "We Love You". Wasn't that inappropriate for the venue? If so, why did you say I love you back? This was meant to be a solemn service was it not?


Were you surprised at the reaction to your call for Israel to return to 1967 borders? Did you backtrack on that once you realized that you could end up losing financial support from the Jewish population?


Do you really believe that we can wait to make changes to entitlement programs? If not, what are you waiting for?

Larry Flint V. Trig Palin

"Sarah Palin is the dumbest thing. But I made a fortune off of her. [He made a porn film called Nailin' Palin, based on her]... She did a disservice to every woman in America. She knew from the first month of pregnancy that kid was going to be Down's Syndrome. It's brain dead. A virtual vegetable. She carries it to all these different political events against abortion, she did it just because she didn't want to say she'd had an abortion. How long is it going to live? Another 12, 15 years? Doesn't even know it's in this world. So what kind of compassionate conservative is she? I don't think anybody will want her near the White House."

One of long line of attacks on an innocent little boy, who happens to have Sarah Palin as his mommy. But to me this isn't about Sarah Palin. She is a big girl, she can take of herself. She has made choices to stay in the spotlight and as long as she does this will continue to happen. I am making no judgement, just stating the facts as I see them. This particular attack comes from the despicable Hustler founder, Larry Flint. What sometimes ends up getting missed during some of these attacks on conservatives and their families is that this is a common view of the left when it comes to disabled children. Kids who are less than "perfect" in the view of the world.



I am going to give a portrait of a beautiful little boy who happens to have a disability very similar to Trig's. A view that the left doesn't think about. A view that the left doesn't think this little boy's family has the right to feel blessed to have them in their family.


A woman who had been told that biological children were not possible due to past health problems. The doctors went as far to say that not even donor IVF would work; had she become pregnant she would most certainly miscarry. She was given pamphlets on adoption on the same day her blood tests came back saying that she was more than just peri-menapousal. Her boyfriend (now her husband) told her he had no interest in adopting. She seriously thought about leaving the relationship, but in the end realized that she could end up without a man who she really loved and knew loved her, and still end up with no children. While it was hard, she cames to terms with the fact children would not be part of her life. After almost a year of marriage she realized that her cycle had completely stopped. Her doctors had told her to expect this and was told she needed to make an appointment to get her hormone levels checked when it did happen to make some decisions on HRT.


She makes the appointment, has the blood tests and forgets about it. She already made the decision that she wasn't going to use HRT as she already had an increased risk of breast cancer. A few days later she comes home from work and hubby tells her the doctor called and wanted to speak to her immediately. The scary news that she thought she would hear was that her cancer had returned. Instead, she is told she is pregnant, her miracle happened. The doctor knew she was supposed to go on a winery tour in Napa a few days later, and he wanted to be sure he talked to her as soon as possible.


Due to the very high risk of her pregnancy, she saw the doctor more often than most other women. She refused to have the amnio, she didn't want to take the risk. The doctors didn't give her much of chance of going to term. The goal was to get her to between 32 and 35 weeks. Some of the blood tests had come back showing signs that the baby had some chromosomal damage. He would be "retarded". The couple was lucky in the sense that they got the news early on and were able to do the proper research to learn about what their son would be facing.


They were able to find a very good educational environment that would start working with him once he was six months old. The little man made his way into the world to two parents who never thought they would be ones. To a mom who prayed for a baby. They saw a beautiful baby who they fell in love with immediately. The first six months were not easy. Baby boy wouldn't hold his own bottle, made very little eye contact, and his parents were very worried. They heard all kinds of stories of what their child wouldn't be able to accomplish. Mom and Dad refused to give up. They continued to give as much love to that baby as they possibly could. Then he started in the therapeutic center. Very shortly thereafter, he started to hold his own bottle. While he still wouldn't hold eye contact with strangers, he started smiling when he saw his mommy and daddy. And the progress just kept moving forward. He wasn't supposed to walk or talk until at least three. He was walking shortly after his second birthday. While his speech was very slurred at first, he now talks up a storm. He is a very bright little boy who has so much sweetness in his heart. Sadly not everyone sees that sweetness.


During his summer break a few years back little man was put into an art camp. Structure is very important to him, he doesn't do well without it. Another thing that can be trying at times is that he needs a great deal of repetition in order fully understand. He was put into a class with children who were younger than him. Since he didn't know his colors and still can't count yet, he wouldn't have been able to keep up with his own age group. At the end of the camp one of the mothers had a pool party and gave invites to the counselor to give to all the parents. Little man already knows how to swim as he has a pool at home, and he become very friendly with another little boy there. Little man was very excited about going on a bus to the pool party and didn't want mommy to come on the bus. He was big boy. Mom got a phone call from the camp and it was explained to her that she needed to come pick up her son because he wasn't supposed to be invited to the pool party. The counselor sent home the invitation with him by mistake. Sadly for the woman who was giving the party mom made it to camp before the bus left. So she had to explain to mom why her little boy couldn't be included:

I didn't think that he would know how to swim. Besides, why would have a good time with kids who don't think like him?

Little man was crying and mom was trying to hold it together and not upset him further. It took every ounce of self-control she had not to smack that women silly. He asked his mommy why people didn't like him. It broke her heart to see him so upset. They spent the afternoon doing some fun activities on their own and had hot fudge sundaes. He soon forget about the insult. But mom did not. Mom also has been told to her face that she "no right" to bring that dummy into the world. She has been asked why didn't she have an abortion when she found out he was "ill". He isn't ill. He is perfectly healthy, mom tells them. His brain just works differently.


What these people don't see is the little boy who protected his friend at school when someone was trying to push her. They don't see the little boy who tells his stuffed animals stories before he puts them "to bed". They don't see the little boy who works so hard on a card for his mommy on Mother's Day, it takes him days and many drafts. They don't see how much he and his cousins adore each other. They don't see him with his dog. They don't see him with his sister after mom and dad decided to adopt a second child. The way he kisses her and says how much he loves her. The way he will rub his mommy's face when she gets one of her bad headaches. They just see the "retard". The baby that should have been aborted. The party of tolerance for everyone but for those who are the most vulnerable. The ones who don't see evil in the world. Mom wishes she didn't the evil in the people who think like Larry Flint.

Storm The "Genderless" Baby - Liberal La La Land Child Abuse

Baby Storm parents have told almost no one what sex it is. I say it, because there is no point trying to figure it out by looking at the picture, it looks like a chubby baby and could be either.

"We've decided not to share Storm's sex for now -- a tribute to freedom and choice in place of limitation, a stand up to what the world could become in Storm's lifetime (a more progressive place?...)."

The couple’s 5-year-old son, Jazz, “keeps his hair long, preferring to wear it in three braids,” his favorite color is pink and “he loves to paint his fingernails and wears a sparkly pink stud in one ear.” What’s more, the reporter describes a booklet Jazz wrote titled, “Gender Explorer.” Inside, it reads: “Help girls do boy things. Help boys do girl things. Let your kid be whoever they are!”

OK, gender is biological. It isn't a state of mind. You have a penis or a vagina. Yes, there are some rare instances that gender can be difficult to ascertain due to some sort of anolomy, but this is true of 99.9% of society.

A few months back I heard about a school in the Fort Lauderdale area that has no teachers, no set plan of any sort. The children can decide for themselves what they want to do. It teaches them to be enlightened. While this particular couple are from Canada, I believe, but if they lived in Florida this is where their kids would go to school. The father teaches at an alternative school that deals with gender, race, and of course, class. Heaven forbid these crazy liberals leave class out of the mix.

This is child abuse plain and simple. Sadly, they have two older boys who are not gender non specific, but dress like girls and paint their toenails pink. While I really don't have much of a problem with a boy playing with his mom's nail polish at this age, but I kind do have a problem with a five year old having waist long hair he wears in braids. This kid is going to be very confused as he gets older and realizes that the rest of the world is not as crazy as his parents. What the heck is going to happen when he reaches puberty and realizes he wants to start dating girls who also wear pink nail polish?

Progressive View of Herman Cain

I came across an article on Herman Cain by Dr. Boyce Watkins.  It isn't exactly what one may expect. 

Whether we like it or not, Herman Cain is expanding the definition of what it means to be black in America. He reminds us that the divides in America are driven more by wealth and class than by race or gender. America is more capitalist than it is racist, sexist or homophobic, so it is no surprise that even Sarah Palin went out of her way to mention how much she loves Herman Cain.

So it seems that Dr.Watkins is willing to be an honest broker that while racism does exist in this country, it is not the driving force in politics even though we have many examples of those who like to make it so.  But, don't get me wrong, he still plays the race card;

With popular Republicans such as former governor Mike Huckabee, Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels and Donald Trump bowing out of the election, Cain has the opportunity to take his appeal to the next level. It will be interesting to see if those on the far right truly have the stomach to treat Cain with decency, rather than throwing him under the bus as they did Michael Steele.

OK, first I never looked at Donald Trump as a republican let alone a conservative.  His only real appeal was to the birthers.  I have met Michael Steele on quite a few occasions.  He is a very nice man who was totally wrong for the job of RNC Chairman.  Steele likes the spot light.  It is part of his personality.  There is nothing wrong with that in the proper context, but the chairman of the party is more of a behind the scenes type of position. Not one of Steele's strong points.  Steele mismanaged the party's money among some other controversies during his tenure.  Remember the stripper bar tab?  Not something that represents the party in positive light.  While he didn't come out and say it, I am sure that Watkins believes that Steele was nothing more than the token black chosen after the election of the first black president.  If that were the case, it wouldn't have taken as many ballots for Steele to win the chairmanship. 

We all know that if Cain deviates even a bit from traditional Republican platforms (as did Colin Powell), he will be the target of right wing lynch mobs only reserved for black Republicans who don't know their place. He won't have the same latitude for reconsideration afforded other leading Republicans, such as Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney. Some conservatives are open to the idea of a black man giving orders, as long as he tells them to do what they were already planning to do in the first place.

Colin Powell is another man that I never considered to be a conservative, so when he came out with views that don't support conservative values or thoughts it didn't surprise me.  Do I think that he supported Obama due to color?  Maybe, maybe not.  Only he knows his own thought process.  What I do know is that some military people told me that they had real doubts about McCain because they felt he would continue and possibly increase our involvement in wars in the Middle East.  It is very possible that he went along with that thought process.  Powell was held responsible for the war in Iraq in some ways due to his speech in front of the U.N. while he was Secretary of State.  I don't think it is so far off to say that could have been part of his feelings of escalating our footprint.  Those are questions that only he can answer. 

I don't know how to express how wrong he is that Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich are getting some sort of pass from conservatives.  I don't know one single person who support either one of them.  How Romney keeps getting high poll numbers is just beyond my comprehension, except that it is a name that everyone recognizes. 

His main objection to Herman Cain is about policy or is it?

In case you're wondering, there is no way on earth that I would support Herman Cain for president. But my opposition to Cain has nothing to do with me thinking that he's somehow betrayed his race. Instead, it is my advocacy for progressive thought, racial equality and protection of the poor that leads me to believe that Cain is not the right man to run the country.


Unfortunately, quite a few members of the black community could care less about the poor and are so conservative that they'd rather see the nation become a dictatorship. This is one reason that Cain's candidacy, if couched in the right terminology, could threaten to crack the long-term love affair between African-Americans and the Democratic Party.

Not every black person is poor and liberal, and many of them sit down with their own version of Herman Cain for Sunday dinner every single week. While I humbly (and perhaps even myopically) stick to the words "probably not," the truth is that Herman Cain has the chance to reshape America.

What I find so sad about this is that he doesn't see that what he is saying is about race.  What he is missing is the fact that the country is running out of money.  So unless we start spending our money more wisely and more effectively we will be unable to help the poor.  Conservatism is not about leaving the disadvantaged to fend for themselves, it is about enabling them to get to the point that they no longer need government assistance and are able to help themselves.  Herman Cain would like to stop the alarming high rates of abortion in the black community.  Abortion kills more blacks than gangs.  Cain supports school choice in the poor performing schools, many of which are in minority communities.  Giving these children a better education will greatly improve the chances of lifting themselves out of poverty.  Cain's view of homosexuality is the norm in the black community.  It isn't that Cain's values are different than many within the black community, it is that the black community doesn't vote it's values.

Ed Schultz Suspended for Calling Laura Ingraham a Slut

“Remarks of this nature are unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” MSNBC said in a statement.



MSNBC said Schultz will address the remarks on his show Wednesday night, and begin his leave immediately afterward. He will return on June 6th.


“MSNBC management met with Ed Schultz this afternoon and accepted his offer to take one week of unpaid leave for the remarks he made yesterday on his radio program,” MSNBC said.

In the most surprising turn of events this statement came from The Women's Media Center:
 

“While conservative bloggers and watchdog organizations are highlighting Schultz’s remark, the Women’s Media Center also calls on MSNBC to suspend Schultz for his comments, since they not only attack Ingraham, but all women, Ms. Ingraham is no friend to the Women’s Media Center, but a sexist and misogynist attack based on her gender and not her political views or comments is harmful to women in media, politics, and beyond.”

Can't we just all get along?  Ed Schultz is an embarassment to his profession.

I have read on a few places that the heckler being removed is further proof of Israel's "crimes and hate".  I have been in the those seats, there are signs before you are seated that clearly state that you are not able to make noise.  You will be removed.  Nothing would have stopped this woman from standing outside with signs and protesting all she likes.  Rules apply to everyone, even the Israel haters. 

I just love Bibi. 

Cain Follows Up on Misstep with Hannity

Cain was scheduled to be on The Hannity Show anyway, but it gave him the chance to get out in front of his missteps yesterday.  He needs to bone up on foreign policy if he wants his candidacy to move along.  I personally don't have a problem with someone saying I would rather have all the information before I make a promise I can't keep.  But I don't think that is the popular opinion.  It seems to me that people would rather that politicians make something up.  Obama said he was going to do all these things about the wars, and has done none of them.  That is because once he got all the information he realized he couldn't do what he promised.

Herman, Please Hire Some Foreign Policy Experts

This was ugly.  There is no other way to word it.  I think it is pretty obvious that I support Mr. Cain, but he cannot expect to be president with performances like this.  This is not fatal, but it does need to be worked on.  It is obvious that he had no idea what Right to Return was nor did he know that Israel will never agree to it.  He has time to fix this, but this is what his competitors are going to use to make him look bad. 

15,000 for Herman Cain's Announcement Speech

There was an array of people in Atlanta today.  Young, old, black, white and everything in between.  He gave yet another inspirational speech.  His family is lovely.  They make an appearance at the end.  Mr. Cain also went out into the audience to shake hands and thank the people who came.  Obviously he couldn't greet every person, but he tried to meet as many as he could.  It was a great day. 

It's Official - Herman Cain for President

I had an amazing day in Atlanta today.  I wanted to watch Herman make history today, so I got in my car and drove to Atlanta for the day.  It was well worth it.  His announcement was very much like a tea party and family outing.  We had entertainment, prayer, song, and Herman.  What more can one ask for? 

I called someone today that I had given an envelope to more than a year ago.  I asked him to open it and read it.  It said, remember the name Herman Cain, he will be running for president in 12.  Herman is a very dynamic man.

Meet a Hero

Last night there was a fundraiser for TitoPac by the hostess with the mostess. You may remember Tito "The Builder" Munoz from the McCain Campaign and as a speaker at the last 9/12 march. Tito is a not only a very good man, but a personal friend of mine, who I have a great deal of respect for. He has stepped up to the challenge of to turn this country around. Tito was born in a socialist country and sees some dangerous signs of where our country is heading. During his travels he met this man:





You may recognize the man giving the speech, Mark Obenshain, state senator in Virginia. The Obenshain's are very involved in Virginia politics.



Luis is not even an American citizen, he just has a worker's visa. Yet he stands up for his principles as he is another man who was born in socialist country; Honduras. He knows the dangers and he doesn't want his children growing up in the same environment that he grew up in.

What is wrong with Conservative Men of Late?

Here is another man who I normally respect that has just gone around the bend. Ben Stein wrote an article regarding the imprisonment of Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the head of the IMF who has been accused of rape.

1) If he is such a womanizer and violent guy with women, why didn't he ever get charged until now? If he has a long history of sexual abuse, how can it have remained no more than gossip this long? France is a nation of vicious political rivalries. Why didn't his opponents get him years ago?

2.) In life, events tend to follow patterns. People who commit crimes tend to be criminals, for example. Can anyone tell me any economists who have been convicted of violent sex crimes? Can anyone tell me of any heads of nonprofit international economic entities who have ever been charged and convicted of violent sexual crimes? Is it likely that just by chance this hotel maid found the only one in this category? Maybe Mr. Strauss-Kahn is guilty but if so, he is one of a kind, and criminals are not usually one of a kind.

Oh, and he goes on:

3.) The prosecutors say that Mr. Strauss-Kahn "forced" the complainant to have oral and other sex with him. How? Did he have a gun? Did he have a knife? He's a short fat old man. They were in a hotel with people passing by the room constantly, if it's anything like the many hotels I am in. How did he intimidate her in that situation? And if he was so intimidating, why did she immediately feel un-intimidated enough to alert the authorities as to her story?

Since no one knows who this women is, she could be someone like me, who is 100lbs. It doesn't take much for a man to be stronger than me. Then he decides to talk about the alleged victim:

6.) People accuse other people of crimes all of the time. What do we know about the complainant besides that she is a hotel maid? I love and admire hotel maids. They have incredibly hard jobs and they do them uncomplainingly. I am sure she is a fine woman. On the other hand, I have had hotel maids that were complete lunatics, stealing airline tickets from me, stealing money from me, throwing away important papers, stealing medications from me. How do we know that this woman's word was good enough to put Mr. Strauss-Kahn straight into a horrific jail? Putting a man in Riker's is serious business. Maybe more than a few minutes of investigation is merited before it's done.

This is a very wealthy man who if he makes his way back to France will never see the inside of the courtroom and this possibly "lunatic" maid will never have her day in court. Did you forget about Roman Polanski, Mr. Stein? Just because he was denied bail doesn't mean he is not presumed innocent. Oh, I think it is time that you get that medication that was stolen from you refilled. It sounds like you need it.

Hugh Hewitt – Another to Add to the List of People Who Don’t Respect the Voices of the People

This is why the GOP needs to rethink its debate schedule and why the RNC should take over the operation of the debates and exile Cain, Johnson and Paul as well as every other candidate without a prayer of winning. (Santorum is a long shot, but he has a realistic though small chance of winning the nomination, while the others do not.) The seriousness of the fiscal crisis requires the GOP and its candidates to act seriously, and allowing marginal candidates to eat up time and distract from the enormous problems facing the country is not serious.


Gingrich and Romney sensed this and wisely avoided this event. Governor Pawlenty who needs to build name ID and a donor base probably has no choice but to attend them all.

I really like Hugh Hewitt and I generally agree with most of what he says. This I absolutely don’t agree with. It is not up to the RNC who gets into the race. It is up to the individual following the laws and the rules to enter. If a candidate files the paperwork and pays the fee, he has every right to enter the race. We should never be shutting down speech. We need to encourage as much free speech as possible. We also need to give the voters as many different points of view so we are sure we are picking the right person. On top of the fact that he putting Gingrich in a higher level than Santorum or Cain is simply laughable. Cain was the winner of the debate by most standards.

I don’t want the RNC making the decisions on who can enter a race, especially for president. One of the reasons that we are in the mess that we are in is because of the establishment GOP supporting people like Lindsey Graham. We get to decide who wins a primary. The RNC should be doing nothing to interfere with this process. We all know that they do, but they shouldn’t be.

Hmm, Makes Me Wonder

By now most have heard about the latest invitee to The White House by Michelle Obama. None other than rapper and “poet” Common. I went on you tube and went through the torture of listening to some of his music. I am no fan of rap by any stretch of the imagination, it just sounds like noise to me for the most part.


My understanding is that rap has become less violent and misogynist in the past few years, but I really don’t know if that is true or not. If that is true Common has missed the memo. Above and beyond the fact he talked about the death of President Bush, he is also violent towards cops and women.

What I would like to know is do they allow their two young daughters to listen to his “art”? If not, why are they giving this man such a platform?

Has Sarah Palin Already Decided Not to Run for POTUS

There is some interesting tidbits that would leave one to guess that Gov. Palin has already decided not to seek the GOP nomination for President. 


1. Fox News has given Gov. Huckabee until the end of this month to give them a decision on a possible run.  No such release has been made about Gov. Palin.  Although Fox News is now denying this report. 


2. During last week's Fox News GOP debate towards the end they asked the debaters about the possible candidates that did not attend the debate.  They asked about Michele Bachmann, Mike Huckabee, Mitt Romney, and Newt Gingrich.  They did not ask about Sarah Palin.  Since Fox employs the Gov. I can't see how media bias towards her could be used the reasoning. 


Has she told them at Fox News privately that she will not be running? 


Today, I read this story about Bristol Palin.  She and her two year old son will be moving back to Los Angeles and moving in with her former Dancing with the Stars co-star Kyle Massey and his brother Chris for a ten episode reality series for the BIO channel.  The series will revolve around her life while she is taking a job working with a so far unnamed charity and raising her son.  Why exactly the Massey brothers will be their roommates was not made clear.  The series is set to begin airing at the end of the year.  The episodes will then air for 10 weeks which puts the airing smack dab at the beginning of the primary process. I am not sure how voters will feel about voting for the mother of a reality tv star.  It may be a real turn off to some voters. 

If I had to make a guess, this would mean that Gov. Palin has decided not to run.  But Palin has never followed the convention method, so who knows. 

Because Nothing Says Happy Mother's Day like Abortion

At least that is what one can conclude from Nanny Pelosi's latest fundraising email.

I guess not even Mother's Day is off limits to push the abortion agenda.  How is this woman still allowed to accept communion at her Church?  My understand is that she does attend Mass at her local Catholic church.

Happy Mother's Day to all the women who have been an inspiration to a child.  Remember to thank the women in your life who also had an impact in your life, even if there were not your Mama. 

Herman Cain Declared Winner of South Carolina Debate

Herman Cain won over a great deal of people tonight if this focus group is any indication.  He also seemed to be the winner based on what I saw from traffic on twitter and facebook. 

Personally, I also was very impressed with Tim Pawlenty.  I thought much of what he said made a great deal of sense.  I especially liked that he flat out said he was wrong about cap and tax.  There is also a misunderstanding of his record on that as he only wanted to examine it, he never put into place.  Once the numbers came out he backed off.  He also backed off long before he made his way into presidential politics.  I am reading his book right now, I highly recommend it. 

History Will be Kinder to President Bush

I have always maintained that history would be much kinder to President Bush then the press and country was during his presidency. One of the most pointed thing in his legacy is the fact that President Obama has kept much of the apparatus on the war on terror in place after taking office, much to the chagrin of his left base and totally against the then candidate Obama. Candidate Obama thought it would be easy to try KSM in New York. Candidate Obama thought he could close Gitmo in a matter of months. Candidate Obama never would have admitted to keeping rendition in place. Candidate Obama would never have admitted to increasing the drone program into Pakistan. Candidate Obama never would have added more troops to Afghanistan. President Obama has done all of these things. Many of them were done kicking and screaming, but some have been done because once president he realizes that the responsibility is different. Once president he had access to security information that had been denied to him previously. Once president he was forced to realize that the American people are not as far left as he is. They had some say in terms of bringing KSM to U.S. soil for a show trial.



Since the death of UBL we have seen a great deal of media attention put back on the tragedies of 9/11. Time Magazine actually went back and looked up the kids who were being read to when Andy Card leaned over and whispered to President that America was under terrorist attack. Remember the uproar the left had when President Bush didn’t leap out of his chair and run out of the room? Remember the jokes and the ridicule? Remember the left dismissing the claims of President Bush that he was worried about upsetting the children? Turns out he was right, at least according to the kids present in that room. The kids are all teenagers now, and they tell a very different story of that morning and of a president who tried to remain calm. They say that him staying in the room was the right thing to do, as they could see from his expression something had upset him. Being small children they of course wondered if they had done something wrong and know that if he had run out of the room it would have been more upsetting to them, as at that age the carnage of that day was nothing something that they were not prepared for and could not comprehend.


It is well worth the read. History will be kinder to President Bush.

Is There Hope for America?

Today was a beautiful spring day in DC. It was warm and sunny, just the way I like it. I was sitting outside on the deck watching some of the neighborhood kids play with one another. They are generally good kids who play well together. They also don't wander, they know where they are allowed to play and stay between three yards, all of which can seen from each other. Today they were having some difficulties and there was some bullying going on. I was sitting there thinking maybe I should let them work it for themselves. It did not end up working out that way. They quickly got to name calling that then escalated to pushing and not wanting anyone to get hurt, an adult needed to step in.


I got to thinking about how this reflects the society that we live in. It is no wonder that kids bully each other, they just watch how adults behave and do the same. I have been very disappointed by the reaction to the death of Usama bin Laden. The name calling and finger-pointing started on my Facebook and twitter feeds within minutes of the news breaking. It seems we have a new class of people; the deathers. People who refuse to believe that Usama is really dead. The main reason they feel that way is because Obama happened to be in office when it happened.

The conspiracy theories are running wild and if you dare question these people on their own particular point of view you in return are called names and asked the question 'what type of conservative are you'. Last night while I was down at The White House I was told by some young kids that I was Anti-American because I didn't want my pictures taken with them in their ridiculous outfits that they were wearing.

It makes me wonder if this country will ever be able to turn things around. We are so polarized that we can't even bring ourselves to agree what a wonderful thing that Usama is dead. While of course I never expected the code pinker and truthers of the world to come around, but I had hope that the rest of us could. Sadly, I was wrong.

I am beginning to think that America is just doomed at this point as we really can't just agree on anything anymore. We have very serious problems in this country and the only way we are going to solve them is with mutual acceptance and teamwork. We, as a society, are in this together. I always had the belief that the things that bring us together are far greater than the things that divide us. I have been seriously questioning that of late.

This may be my last post for a while. I am so sick of the whole thing and just need a break. Of course my little run down to The White House early this morning has left me very tired and I may feel differently tomorrow, but maybe not.

Thank You President Bush

People gathered outside of the house of President Bush last night after the news of bin Laden's death to say "Thank You". 

President Bush put the apparatus in place that allowed it to happen. 

I dare the left to say otherwise.

Usama bin Laden is Dead - DC Celebrates Outside The White House

I heard the news that people were gathering outside of The White House to celebrate the news that the day our country has been waiting almost 10 long years for, Usama bin Laden is dead.  I decided to head down and check it out. 

It was sheer craziness.  After midnight on Sunday it took me more than half hour to find a parking space, not a normal thing at this time of the morning. 

The vast majority of people were college students, but a few of us older people showed up. 





I was pleasantly surprised to see this:

It was a young woman who brought this down and I had made a comment to her that I was very surprised to someone supporting Bush down here.  She told me that she is an Obama supporter, but understands that both men are responsible for getting bin Laden.

Of course the Code Pink side of the loony left was also there.  Several people were walking thru the crowd yelling at people that they were celebrating someone's death.  While normally I agree that cheering someone's death is ghoulish, I am willing to make an exception this time.  Good Riddens.  Personally I would have much rather that he surrendered and had to spend the rest of his days being guarded by some female guards and forced to watch home movies of the people he killed on a round clock feed, but that was not meant to be.  The reports say that he was given the opportunity to surrender and refused.  Ironically he died on the anniversary of the death of Hitler.  I guess May Day is a day to rid the world of the scum. 

I was also very happy to see the patriotic side of the younger crowd be so present.  It did my heart good to hear them singing the national anthem and waving the American flags.  It isn't always a side that we see of the young crowd in this country.  It is nice to know that actually does exist. 

God Bless our Navy Seals, the reports are saying they are the ones who carried out the mission. 

For those on the right, and you know who you are, turning this into something political; shame on you.  We should be all Americans for a few hours.  This is a happy day. 

In Search of the Redeeming Qualities of President Obama

I have been told by a group of people who I see often, all of whom are democrats, that I never say anything nice about President Obama. While I don't agree with his policies I acknowledge that is he is my president too. Therefore I should try to find the things that we can agree upon.


I personally believe that Obama, in his heart of hearts, knows that vouchers is part of the solution to the sad state of affairs that makes up our public school systems. When he first took office one of the first things on the agenda for Nanny Pelosi and Co. was to end the DC scholarship program. The president put his weight behind allowing the children already in the program to finish their education through graduation. I am sure that Nanny had to sallow hard, but she did it. Several thousand needy students were not cut off and could finish at the schools of their parent(s) choice. I also like the vegetable garden that students from around DC have come to work on. When you live in a major urban area gardens are not always possible, so this opens them up to a new experience. I know when I was young and my dad planted his garden, I loved to help and really enjoyed the fresh veggies. Something that did follow me into adulthood. I also give him credit for trying to give his daughters as much as normal a childhood that one can have living in a fishbowl. They both are involved in athletics and both the President and First Lady go and watch them play and seem to be involved in their activities. That is important to kids. They want mom and dad to watch them, it gives them a sense of pride and accomplishment. While these are scant and barely compliments, I have tried.


My issue becomes does President Obama acknowledge that he is my president too? I don't think so. We can point to his comments about the tea party and the right. Even he has invoked the race card. While I am willing to admit that some people don't like him due only to race, it doesn't seem to me that he is willing to acknowledge that the vast majority in the tea party don't care about his skin color. They don't like his policies. They don't believe that he has America's best interests at heart. They do believe he really did mean that he wanted to fundamentally transform America, and they don't like what he is trying to transform it to. While some go as far as to say he is a communist, I personally feel that he would like to see America become a quasi-socialist state like much of the European nations. The tea party people are standing up and saying hell no we won't go. With all the faults that America has had over the generations, it still gives the population opportunities that don't really exist in Europe. We acknowledge the faults, but hold dear the promise that is America. He doesn't see the promise the same way we do.


But after last night's little performance there can be no doubt in my mind that Obama doesn't acknowledge that he is my president as well. I am the "enemy" that must be belittled in order to be destroyed and discredited. While attending the annual White House Correspondence dinner the president made that crystal clear with his outright disgraceful attack on Donald Trump. I am no fan of The Donald. I have never been. I am not overly impressed by someone by the virtue of their wealth alone. All money really does is give one options. It seems to me that the option that Donald Trump chose is to be egomaniac who no real moral compass. His main goal in life is to promote himself to gain even more money that just increases his over-sized ego even more.


This dinner has always been a few moments where the press that cover the president to relax and have some laughs at each others expense. The President gives a short speech that normally pokes fun at himself and then a comedian comes out and tells a few more zingers at the expense of both the president and the media. People have a dinner, some good wine, and a few laughs and then go on their merry way. The vast majority of Obama's speech was allocated to going after Donald Trump. Trump was invited by, I believe, The Washington Post, and of course he never turns down an invitation to promote himself. So there stood the president tearing down a private citizen in full view of the media. While Trump has caused a headache or two for the president over the past few months, as an American citizen criticizing the president is not just a privilege, but a responsibility. It is a part of the checks and balances of the system. But this president just can't seem to take the criticisms and gets very personal at those who dare.

So the next time these people say to me I don't say anything nice about the president I will have to remind them I have taken my cue from the top. I also will ask them to point out when President Bush (whom they all HATE) ever went after someone who criticized him on a personal level. I don't think they will find one. President Bush put up with a great deal of hate from the left during his eight years in office and he while many of us complained he didn't fight back hard enough, I can honestly say that I will take his approach over the thin-skinned ego maniacal approach that Obama has chosen to employ.
