Montel Williams Blasts Obama Administration on VA Scandal - Video

Williams is a former Marine, so this is personal to him.  From what I understand he is taking a great deal of heat going after the Obama administration.  After all, it isn't politically correct for a black man to speak out about the anointed one.

About Megyn Kelly and White St. Nick

I just love all this.  I really do.  Megyn Kelly had a panel discussion on blog post that was written by a black woman and her feelings of inadequacies as a child seeing a white Santa Claus.  Her tongue and cheek suggestion was that we now make Santa into a penguin so that no one else is forced to feel bad about themselves as she did as a child.  

This discussion, per the usual, turned into calls of "RAAAAACIST" and of course White Privilege.  I wonder how many actually watched the segment or just read what has been written about it?  

St. Nicholas was white.  St. Nicholas is what Santa Claus is based upon.  That isn't up for debate.  It is history.  He was a historical figure.  The point of the segment was that just because something in history is uncomfortable, is that a good enough reason to change it?  Her answer is no, it isn't.  She is right about that.  

Across human history there are many things that are uncomfortable.  The crusades, slavery, and the holocaust just to name three.  Do we get to change what happened because someone is uncomfortable with the history of it?  I am white of European descent.  I am only one generation away from it in fact.  I am only the third person in my family to be born in this country.  Now, do I get to whitewash the history of European whites that held blacks in slavery just because I don't like the fact that they did it?  No, I don't.  That is our history.  The same way that blacks that come from African decent don't get to whitewash the fact that many blacks on that continent made money on selling their fellow countrymen into bondage.  That is their history.  

I was reading an article not to long ago on the 9/11 museum that will be opening at The World Trade Center.  Some people didn't want the hijackers mentioned at all, they wanted it to be about the victims only.  I say heck no.  We don't get to decide for ourselves what that day was and what it was not.  19 men hijacked planes and killed 3,000 innocent people based solely upon their sick religious views.  That is what happened.  It doesn't matter that some people may be uncomfortable with that pesky little fact.  Muslims have to deal with it.  Saudis have to deal with the fact that the majority of them came from that country.  It isn't up for debate, or at least it shouldn't be.  

She was making no statement on race.  She was talking about why do we, as a culture, want to change historical figures into a narrative that fits a more "modern, feel-good, politically correct" thing?  What right do we have to do that as a society?  It benefits no one to change our history.  

This has played out in bright colors this week with the death of Nelson Mandela.  I can't think of another recent example that showcases what Ms. Kelly was saying.  Upon his death he was either characterized as a saint or the devil.  The truth is he contained elements of both.  His history does contain acts of violence and innocent people being killed due to those acts of violence.  That cannot be left out of the conversation about his life.  But the other side to that coin is that he left the violence behind him once he was out of imprisonment and tried to lead a country out of a government that was based on oppression, racism, and nothing short of tyranny.  Now I don't agree with his socialist views of government, but I didn't live that life in that time.  I am sitting in the cheap seats and it is real easy for me to say what I would and would not have done in his position, living in that country, as a person of color, in that time.  Freedom isn't free.  We say that all the time in this country when it comes to conversations about our troops and America's standing in the world.  I can think of no example of when a country that was under a tyrannical regime working towards more freedom for its citizens that didn't involve bloodshed.  It isn't pretty, but it is reality.  If there is one thing that makes me crazier than anything else, it is when people don't want to deal with the realities at hand.  We don't get to change our history simply because we don't like it.  Unless of course you want to be intellectually dishonest and lazy.  

There was nothing racist about what Megyn Kelly said.  She wasn't saying that black children can't look to Santa Claus the same way white children do.  She wasn't saying that Santa is only for the whites of the world.  She was saying St. Nicholas is a historical figure and nothing in the world is going to change that fact.  Deal with it.  

Investigating Eric Holder

Believe me, I am no fan of Eric Holder.  I feel that he never should have gotten the job as Attorney General.  The Department of Justice has a bad habit of looking at everything on a color bar instead of justice.  The entire purpose of our justice system in this country is give equal rights to all.

Since Holder has taken over lawsuits against states to firm up their voter rolls have been dropped.  By law, every state across the union is supposed to update their voter registration rolls in order to get the money that the federal government gives them to help cover the costs for all federal level elections.  The department filed these suits against states that were not keeping up with their end of the bargain when Michael Mukasey was heading the department.  They were summarily dropped when Holder took over.  The evidence of how the department of "civil rights" is anything but.  While most of the people in this department are career lawyers, it still is a statement of the people who are running the department when eyes are closed to what they are doing.  Free and fair elections cannot happen if we don't have trust that the states are doing what they should be doing when it comes to removing ineligible voters off the rolls.

As much I would like to think that Eric Holder is going to be convicted of perjury, I just don't see it happening.  What Eric Holder actually said was that he wasn't aware of anyone wanting to prosecute reporters.  While it may be a parsing of words, there is a big difference being investigating a person and charging a person with a crime.

The real thing that should be investigated is who is the person who misled the courts?  By AG Holder's own testimony, they never had any intention of charging James Rosen with a crime, they just wanted some information that they could get no other way.  Someone stood in front of judge and asked for phone and email records of a private citizen who they never had any intention of prosecuting.  Not only that, they went judge "shopping" to find one that would allow them not to notify his employers and called him a flight risk.  This person should be fired for cause, therefore giving up all rights to the federal benefits, and also be barred from practicing law, ever again.

Now, I do think that since Eric Holder's signature is on the paperwork he can no longer be trusted by Americans to do what is fair and just.   If President Obama had any sense he would ask for the resignation of his attorney general.  Moving forward the citizens of this country deserve to have someone at the helm of this department that they believe is doing the work of the office, giving citizens the belief that our justice system is doing its job, upholding the law without regard to political beliefs, race, color, or creed.  The amount of power this department used to go after one person is exactly what our founders warned us against and tried to protect us from.

If this isn't Nixonian, I don't know what is.  Be very afraid America, be very afraid.  No matter where you fall on the political spectrum, this should outrage you.  This will only make our government workers more afraid to come forward with information that is being withheld from us "for our own good".

There is no low for the left - The Bitter and Amoral Attack on the Santorum Family's Mourning

Alan Colmes went lower than low with his attack on the way the Santorum family chose to mourn the loss of their baby boy; Gabriel, who died shortly after childbirth.  


I personally have never lost a child, but I have watched others who have.  My best friend died while we were teenagers and another woman I know lost a six week old to SIDS.  Mourning a child is a deeply personal issue and how a family that is grieving that horrible loss have the right to mourn that loss in the way they feel is best for their family.  Rick and Karen Santorum felt that their other children needed to be part of the process of saying goodbye to baby Gabriel.  They needed to see him and have a chance to say goodbye.  While it may not be the way that others would choose to handle it, it was their right as they are their children.  They hurt no one else, they broke no laws and even the hospital thought it would be good for them in dealing with their grief.  


What Alan Colmes is probably the most upset about is the fact that they didn't abort the child the moment they found out he wouldn't live.  But of course they said that their daughter Bela, who is now two, wouldn't live either.  


Any liberal who is not condemning these comments is a bad as Mr. Colmes is.  Alan Colmes has no right to tell a family how to mourn the loss of a newborn baby.  They said good-bye the best way they could and did what they thought was right by God and their other children.  


Shame on you Mr. Colmes,  shame on you.  

Marco Rubio on Presidential Politics and Newt's Immigration Stance

 I have this feeling Marco is going to be raked over the coals for his stance on immigration.  I happen to agree with him on most of what he says.  There are some cold hard realities to face; we do not have the political will to deport 11 million people.  The visa system is broken and doesn't work for the needs of the country.  If you are a low skilled worker from Mexico or South America and willing to come and work as migrant farm worker, the visa process is next to impossible.  That must be fixed.  The  borders must be secured.  We then need to figure out what to do with the otherwise law abiding people who have made a home in this country.  He is right, they shouldn't not get citizenship, but a worker's visa is a humane way of handling the problem.

Glenn Beck Show Coming to End

Rumors were flying that Beck would be leaving by Fox.  Many of the rumors were that he was being fired due to his poor viewership.  While his viewership has decreased over the years it still was very strong.  It is obvious he is not being fired as if that were the case he would already be off the air nor would he continue to be doing specials on the channel or adding content to the website.  So, I think we can put that rumor to bed.  Although I am sure those on the far left are still looking at this as some kind of victory. 

There are many on the right who are not thrilled with Beck.  One good example is Les who added this post on Left Coast Rebel.  He feels that Beck walked away from conservative principles for the almighty buck.  I don't disagree that Beck is enjoying the money he is making, but I also don't have a problem with someone using their skills to go out and make a good living.  More power to ya, Beck. 

I don't think it comes as any shock that I am fan of Beck.  Look at the web address of this blog, that will tell you all you need to know.  I know that I wouldn't be as involved had it not been for Beck, and I know many others who feel the same way.  I know several people who will be running for office in the next two years and to a small extent Beck's influence has been a part of it. 

Now, I don't watch his show everyday and I don't always agree with what he is saying.  I have also have been upset by a couple of quotes that he used without giving full context to what they meant.  He tells his viewers to do their own research, and I did.  He left some important information about some of his Soros quotes.  It certainly doesn't change my view of Soros, who I do believe has bad intentions for this country.  But, that is a post for another time. 

My personal opinion on what Beck is planning is that he wants to be completely independent and start up his own network.  But, that isn't an easy venture to undertake.  That takes millions upon millions of dollars and some backers.  That is what I believe is going to be working on.  He has his own website that gets a good amount of traffic I am sure, he has his radio show which is number three in the country.  He is only behind Rush and Hannity. 

Television news contracts have clauses in them about many different things, and I am sure that Beck just can't go and start something that will be a direct competitor to Fox right away.  He needs to transition away from Fox News slowly to allow him the freedom to start up his next venture. 

Here is an interview he gave with Fox Business Network earlier today.  I do believe that Beck not only believes in what he is saying, he believes that it is his responsibility to say it.  Good Luck, Mr. Beck.

12 in 12 - Taking a Look at Presidental Contenders

Fox News is doing a series called 12 in 12.  They are interviewing "candidates" for the upcoming presidential election.  Mitt Romney declined to interviewed.  So far they have done two so-called favorites. 

Mitch Daniels did amazing things as Governor.  He reduced the spending, and he reformed the state employees health care with market based solutions.  He doesn't seem to want to run, even though his name keeps coming up.  Another downside is that he did work for the Bush administration, which isn't exactly the best resume enhancer. 



Haley Barbour did an amazing job during Katrina.  His job was proof that New Orleans was much more complicated than the Bush bashing that went on during the crisis.  He just did the job and asked for the federal help right away, instead of having meetings about asking for help.  The down side with him is that he was a lobbyist for a while, that will work against him.  But his views on taxes and spending are solid, especially when you consider that Mississippi is a very poor state. 

Juan Williams' New Job

Juan Williams was fired yesterday afternoon for stating his opinion.  An opinion, that I might add, many in this country share;  lets say a few months after 9/11 and a person who dressed in clothing that lead you to believe that they are a Muslim is sitting next to you on a plane you wouldn't have a moments pause?  I would say that you are lying if you say that it wouldn't have mattered to you. 

Since 9/11 we have had the shoe bomber, the undies bomber, the Fort Hood Shootings, and the Times Square bomber.  We have read the news reports about the arrests made by the man who was buying bomb making materials in a store while being videotaped.  There was a recently a court hearing for a group of men in the Houston area who were making plans to make bombs.  Let's see there was another arrest a few years ago of men who were planning on bombing the Sears Tower in Chicago among other iconic buildings and bridges.  We also have the Times Square Bomber who told the judge that he lied when he took his oath for his U.S. citizenship.  At his sentencing he said that he was only the beginning of the violence that will be heading our way from the hands of terrorists that want to kill us in the name of Islam. 

There are reasons to take pause.  This is not something that is being made up, as some on the left would like you to believe.  We have the 9/11 truthers who don't believe that al Qeada even exists, it was manufactured by Bush to justify the war in Iraq.  Polls of Middle Eastern countries have consistently have shown that many in the Muslim world do not believe that bin Laden was behind 9/11 let alone any of the other near misses we have experienced since then.  These same polls show that many in these same countries believe that suicide bombings are justified.  That makes these types of conversations important to have. 

All Juan Williams did was express the obvious and for that he was fired.  Now, I don't agree with Juan Williams on virtually anything.  Just last night before his firing was announced, I heard him on Fox talking about how rent control is necessary and capitalism needs to have its limits.  He came stunningly close to saying that private property rights should be secondary to the needs of the poor.  Not something that I agree with on any level.  But, I am standing up and protecting his right to say it.  I also stand up for the right for the Maddow's of the world.  She is doing commentary, she gets paid for her opinion.  I think her opinions are crazy and I don't understand why anyone wants to watch her show, but that is for the free market to decide, not me. 

Less than 24 hours after his firing he was offered a $2 million contract with Fox News.  So, it seems to me that Fox is not only willing to have him express his leftist views, they are quite willing to pay well for it too.  Good for Juan.

These men voilated the law and the media is not talking about why they are not being prosecuted.  Had this been a white man wearing a sheet the story would be very different.  Whenever racism takes place it is a voilation of us all.  No one in this country should be made to feel that they can't vote, what color they are is of no matter.

They have clarified that they are not really interested in killing white babies, really just police.  That is much better!!

The Tactics of Diversion are not Working - White House VS. Fox News

As the saga between Fox News and the white house continue, I have been pondering what the real reasons for this are. I would have to fall on the side of diversion. While I agree that they seem like crybabies and need to throw a bone to the far left base, it seems to me that can’t be the only reason.



Today is a good example of why a diversion is a welcome thing. Iran has been offered a deal that would allow them to have the means to have nuclear energy and get the rest of the world off their backs; and they have, yet again, backed out. The questions of our troop’s safety in Afghanistan while the President decides whether he is going to listen to his hand-picked general that is on the ground continue. The unemployment rate continues to rise. An announcement from the administration today noted the fact that the stimulus has done all it is going to do. The votes for a public option are not there in either the house or the senate. None of this is good.


To further complicate matters, Time Magazine will be printing a piece on the president that includes sections of his college thesis. Again, not good news for the President; it calls the founding fathers “so-called” and basically says that the constitution is flawed and needs to be changed. So, the “fundamental change” he promised us is in jeopardy.


People have stood up. We have shown up at tea parties and town hall meetings. We are writing and calling our congressional offices to voice our concerns. The politicians only say they want involvement. The truth of the matter is that they would be much happier if we all just continued to bury our heads in the sand and let them run roughshod over the freedoms that we are guaranteed. If they take them away slowly, we may just not notice. That is what they were counting on.


The problem is that, as the republicans did eight years ago, the dems are now over-reaching and doing too much too fast. The founders of the country very specifically and smartly designed our government to move slowly. While it may be annoying at times, it is for the best.


Fox News is talking about these issues. I will be the first to admit that they lean to the right. But, leaning to the right doesn’t mean that they are liars or are falsely reporting the stories of the day. The reality is they are really just going after Beck and Hannity. Beck and Hannity are doing commentary. Both are conservatives, even worse Beck is a libertarian leaning conservative. That means he really doesn’t like anyone in the government. Both of them stand up five days a week and give their sometimes stinging criticism of what this administration is doing.


The fact that I can refer to Beck and Hannity by their last names and people know who I am talking about says everything that needs to be said. You can say that you don’t agree with them, but you know who they are. They both have a clear voice on what they believe and have the megaphone in order to say it. Beck hammered away at Van Jones and ACORN. He won those battles; at least for now. Van Jones is out of the white house and ACORN is going to be more closely monitored; at least for now.


The administration may think that they are doing a good job at diversionary tactics, but the facts are that the ratings of Fox News have increased. Which only means that more people are hearing the stories of what this administration is doing that is against the constitution and endangering our freedoms. More people are hearing about what is contained in the so-called healthcare reform bill. More people are realizing that it isn’t about healthcare; it is about consolidating power for the executive branch. This is something that the left hammered President Bush for. It isn’t healthy whichever party is doing it. Beck is pointing that out to his ever growing audience. This is exactly what the Obama administration doesn’t need. But as far as I am concerned, keep up the war. You are only making my job as part of the new “community organizers” easier.

And The Winner Is:

The New York Times has declared Fox News the winner in the ongoing drama with the White House.  This is a little before my time, but the NYT has a little experience with this.  President Nixon declared war on the paper in the seventies.  We all know how that turned out. 

Thou Do Protest Too Much

The Fox News Channel is being attacked yet again by President Obama. I am not exactly sure what his problem with Fox is. Well, I guess I do. The commentary done on Fox does lean to the right. That can’t be disputed. But to say “First of all, I’ve got one television station entirely devoted to attacking my administration”. Three of the main shows that get high ratings on Fox are commentary shows. The hosts are paid to give opinion. They are conservatives, what does the President expect them to say? Hey Mr. President, you going against everything that I believe in and I truly believe that your policies are endangering the future of the country, but great job.

The thing that I found funny about this is the fact that when President Bush was being reckless with spending, nominating Harriet Myers to the Supreme Court, giving bailouts to banks; they were saying the same type of things. This would lead one to conclude that the complaints are based solely on the conservative ideology and has nothing to do with the person. The same types of outcries were being made against a republican administration whose actions go against a conservative point of view.

President Obama has appeared on the Fox News Channel twice. He appeared once while he was in the senate, and once in the run up to election. I watched his interview with Bill O’Reilly. Bill was neither disrespectful nor underhanded during the interview. Fair questions on the issues important to the American people were asked. There was no outcry after the interview aired about unfair treatment. And I think we all remember after an interview between Chris Wallace and Former President Clinton the protests of bias and unfair treatment were loud and clear. Chris Wallace asked Clinton a very fair question regarding his administration’s record on Osama bin Laden. Apparently the former president felt that was an unfair question and stormed out of the studio after the interview.

Mr. President, please tell me what are you so afraid of? What exactly do you think that Fox is going to do to you? Won’t you just send out someone in your administration and use the line we have heard a little too often since your election; “we won”? Is it that you expect all news stations to swoon and get a tingly feeling up their legs at your every word? Your constant references to Fox News are unbecoming and have long since lost their humor. The constant attacks on a news organization are beginning to sound a little Nixonesque.
