Tea Party Movement & What The Dems Still Don't Get

Robert Menendez, the chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee has revealed his new strategy for the 2010 election cycle:

“Given the pressure Republican candidates feel from the extreme right in their party, there is a critical — yet time-sensitive — opportunity for Democratic candidates,” the DSCC writes. “We have a finite window when Republicans candidates will feel susceptible to the extremists in their party. Given the urgent nature of this dynamic, we suggest an aggressive effort to get your opponents on the record.”


The tea party movement does contain far right conservatives, that can't be denied.  But, what they still are not getting is that it also contains independants and moderates from both parties.  The public is smart enough to understand that the government is spending us into oblivion.  Many of the people are showing up because they understand that the federal government is putting the next generation into financial jeopardy.  They are afraid that America will no longer be the "land of oppurtuntity", and the "American Dream" is becoming out of reach. 

The tea party movement is so much more than republicans thinking that democrats are bad.  What they actually are saying is that Washington has become so out of touch with the everyday person that they no longer understand their jobs, to uphold the constitution. 

At some point, the government has to realize that the government is supposed to be about the people of the United States, not about party.  Americans want to be free to make their own choices and live their lives as best they can.  We also want our children to have a better and easier life than we have had. 

The democrat's plan is paint everyone in the republican party as a "birther".  Sorry, Mr. Menendez, I am not a birther.  I will not allow you to paint me as one either.  Yes, they exist; but that is a small minority that is no different than the people who think that President Bush blew up the twin towers on 9/11.  With over 300 million people in this country you are always going to find fringes that believe in extremes. 

The tea party movement rallied around Scott Brown.  Senator Elect Brown is not a right winged extremist.  His record clearly shows that he is a moderate republican cut from the same cloth as Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins.  Two people that your party is constantly trying to woo. 

You are making a big mistake Sen. Menendez because you are proving the point of the tea party movement.  That you simply just don't get it.  We want accountable, limited government.  Something that, based on your statement, you obviously cannot provide. 

Coakley Campaign Pushing Back With a Little Help from the DSCC

Last night senate candidate Martha Coakley held an expensive fundraising dinner at Sonoma's (one of my faves btw) in Washington DC. The fundraiser was attended by what else but lobbyists. Coakley was asked by Fox News what she was doing in Washington and told Griff Jenkins that she was there for a pre-planned "Unity" event.



John McCormack from The Weekly Standard was asking why she was holding a fundraiser with healthcare industry interests. He also was trying to get some clarification on her statement in Monday’s night debate that there are no longer any terrorists in Afghanistan. The reporter was giving her a chance to step back from a stupid comment. If there no more terrorists in Afghanistan who is that is killing our serviceman there? Who killed those CIA agents?



Coakley was not all that interested in answering any questions from him. The reporter was doing what reporters do, and followed her trying to get his questions answered. While asking his questions he was then pushed into a metal railing and fell to the ground. Unfortunately for the campaign there are pictures and video of the event. The AP was able to get a good shot of the man with Coakley helping the reporter up.



It seems that this man is none other than Michael Meehan, who was loaned out to the campaign from the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. Nice, the DSCC is now pushing reporters to the ground for having the audacity to ask a candidate for statewide office a question. How dare he?



The Weekly Standard has been unable to confirm that the man who pushed him is indeed Michael Meehan; below are some pictures. You can decide for yourselves if it is the same man. Looks like him to me.
