Do You Shake Your Garbage Collector's Hand? Union Attack Ad on MItt Romney

This guy is upset that Mitt and Ann Romney don't come out and shake their hands while they are out collecting garbage.

I have never met my garbage collector.  I am normally busy when they come around and most of my neighbors are at work.  My garbage is collected about noon or so, if I am not mistaken.

Now Ann and Mitt do pay property taxes on this home.  This is their home in California, which they don't live in full-time.  If I am not mistaken those taxes are quite high.  Those taxes pay his salary as well as his benefits.   If this is the worse thing that someone can say about Mitt Romney, I would say that he is someone that belongs in elected office considering some of the other imbeciles  we deal with.

Gov. Walker on his Recall Win

My question is do the unions who pushed this recall have to pay back the state for all the money it wasted on this?  His reforms are working.  No teachers lost their jobs, their unemployment level has gone down, they have decreased property taxes.  People are not stupid.  They can see for themselves that things are headed in a better direction under his leadership.

Yeah, The Right Is Over-reacting about Unions

It is high time that the department of Justice get involved and stop the union bullying and violence.  They are out of control. 

Unions now Targeting Target

The unions have decided to go after Target to force them to unionize.  You know there is a reason that every large retailer that unionizes goes out of business.  They can no longer stay price competitive during times of recession.  Have you noticed over the past two years that stores have fewer employees during non peak hours?  If they are union they are not able to cut hours or benefits in order to weather the storm. 

But why let those pesky little facts get in the way.

Remember That Emailed Death Threat to WI Lawmakers? Unions Various and Sundry

The news came that an arrest has been made to the e-mailed death threat that was sent to republican lawmakers in the Wisconsin legislator.  Sadly, not only is she young (26), but she is teacher.  Not just a teacher, but an early education teacher.  Don't remember this story? 

WE want to make this perfectly clear. Because of your actions today and in the past couple of weeks I and the group of people that are working with me have decided that we’ve had enough. We feel that you and the people that support the dictator have to die. We have tried many other ways of dealing with your corruption but you have taken things too far and we will not stand for it any longer. So, this is how it’s going to happen: I as well as many others know where you and your family live, it’s a matter of public records.


We have all planned to assult you by arriving at your house and putting a nice little bullet in your head. However, we decided that we wouldn’t leave it there. We also have decided that this may not be enough to send the message to you since you are so “high” on Koch and have decided that you are now going to single handedly make this a dictatorship instead of a demorcratic process

If you and your goonies feel that it’s necessary to strip the rights of 300,000 people and ruin their lives, making them unable to feed, clothe, and provide the necessities to their families and themselves then We Will “get rid of” (in which I mean kill) you

What is really sad is sad fact that she more than likely will not lose her credentials and will be allowed to continue to be around very young children.  She is working with pre-school aged children.  This woman has no business being around young children.  On top of the fact that she is obviously deranged, she isn't too bright to think she wouldn't be caught.  Hasn't she ever heard of IP addresses?

What liberals refuse to see when it comes to unions is that they are not interested in helping the "average working person" they only care about power and money. 

The unions are trying to boycott Koch's businesses, but are finding out that the Koch's actually have a good working relationships with unions in the private sector.  Conservative objections to unions have to do with how they hold taxpayer hostages with their demands.  It has nothing to do with the workers themselves. 

A number of organizations are advocating a boycott of the products that come from companies owned by the Koch family. This is problematic for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that it could potentially hurt the wrong people.


The Koch brothers own Georgia Pacific. It is an American consumer goods company that makes everyday products like facial tissue, napkins, paper towels, paper cups and the like. Their plants are great examples of American advanced manufacturing. Incidentally, GP makes most of its products here in America. The company’s workforce is highly unionized. In fact, 80 percent of its mills are under contract with one or more labor union. It is not inaccurate to say that these are among the best-paid manufacturing jobs in America.

Read the whole post here, it was written by the man who does the bargaining for paper workers.  There is no reliable connection to the Koch brothers and Gov. Walker of Wisconsin.  Their PAC gave him a minuscule part of the money he raised (less than 1%) for his election bid, and they have never met.  Yet, the unions are pushing unsuspecting people into boycotting Georgia Pacific products that will only end up hurting the very workers they say they are trying to protect.  People who are some of the most highly paid manufacturing workers in the country.   Yeah, boycott that company.  You will cause layoffs for people who have nothing to do with what is going on in Wisconsin and make no difference to the bank account of the Koch's.  Good idea.  Even this man goes a long way in verifying the story that the Koch brothers are not at all what they are being made out to be.  The left just may have to find another boogey man.  What the record shows is that the Koch's businesses follow the law and believe in compliance with the law.  As American citizens they have the right to exercise their rights and get involved in the political process.  Their PAC is something that is not directly tied to their businesses.  It is a personal venture that they have every legal right to do.  The political process in only a very small part of the charitiable works that they involve themselves with.  The vast majority of their money goes to medical research, hospitials, and the arts. 

This presents a dilemma and a paradox. While the Koch brothers are credited with advocating an agenda and groups that are clearly hostile to labor and labor’s agenda, the brothers’ company in practice and in general has positive and productive collective bargaining relationships with its unions

And let us not forget that if you have the audacity to follow the law and get rid of illegal workers this is what the left will do to you:

Seriously, I can't watch this often enough.  He is a self proclaimed socialist that believes that Noodles and Co. is a dictatorship.  He also talks about studying history.  He obviously has not done a very good job at studying because socialism has never worked anywhere in the world.  It always has failed.  At least he works at a restaurant and isn't a teacher.  Hey, dude - when you are selling something it is called capitalism.  Just thought I pass that on to you.

Herman Cain & Tea Party Converges on Wisconsin Capitol to Support Governor Walker

The Tea Party has the Governor's back.  There should be no surprise that this was going to happen.  Governor Brown campaigned on these issues.  He was very straight-forward about what his plan was and what it would involve. 

The unions need to stop lying to people.  They are not being asked to lose any pay or lose any benefits.  They will only be asked to pay a larger percentage of their benefits.  They will still be paying lower than average amounts. 

I have also heard people say that the governor didn't do enough to negotiate with the unions.  I have one question for them.  How exactly do you negotiate with people who last summer allowed people to be laid off because they were unwilling to give up their insurance coverage of Viagra?

I am not saying I want this man to run for president, but I do love how he just tells it like it is.   The gravy train is over.  It doesn't matter if you are in union or not, we all have to pay our share to get out of this mess.  While this police officer has put his life on the line to protect the people of New Jersey and for that we all should be grateful, but welcome to the real world.  The rest of us are paying more for insurance and many of us have not gotten a raise at all.  Some of us don't even have a job.  We cannot keep paying these high cost benefits to public service unions without them pitching to help with the costs.  Like I said, the gravy train is over.  The unions got so greedy and the sadly the states went along with it so now it is time to pay the piper. 

A little Blue Pill for Me, No Job for Thee

The teacher's union of Milwaukee is reaching a new low; and it is not easy for teacher's union to reach new lows.  The union has filed a sex discrimination case in order to get the district to start covering Viagra again.  That's right, they want to make sure that male teachers are getting some. 

The district is in a financial crisis so bad that they have already laid off 400 teachers and may well need to lay off some more.  The Viagra coverage will cost close to a million dollars per year.  A million dollars that could easily be used to keep teachers employed.  But, no they want their erectile dysfunction pills more.  I am no doctor, but I have never heard of Viagra being used for anything other than sexual recreation purposes. 

The suit claims that since they cover estrogen replacement therapy for women it is discriminatory.  Ok, not to get too graphic here, but I went through menopause early due to my ovarian cancer.  I would like to see a man going through night sweats and hot flashes then tell me that ERT is about having sex.  It is not, the therapy does have some additional benefits that could potentially help a woman in the sexual department, that is not why woman take ERT.  The problem is worsened by the fact that insurance does cover penile implants and pumps.  So, men can still find ways to scratch their itch without increasing the costs to the district. 

This is one of the most ridiculous things that I have ever heard of.  Our country is basically bankrupt and the unions are worrying about Viagra?  They can still get off if they so chose, they can pay for it themselves.  Unions just continue to ask for more and more and are never willing to give up anything.  This is playing out in state after state.  New Jersey asked the unions to forgo a wage increase and pay 3% towards their health benefits and they refused.  States are drowning in red ink and the teachers think they should have to make no sacrifice whatsoever. 

If our country is going to get back into a steady footing where are debt is concerned, everyone will have to give up something.  I, for one, will pay a higher tax rate as long as spending cuts are put into place.  As Americans we need to be together in this.  All of us must give a little to get something for the future generations.  It is just that simple.

This union is striking and protesting.  They don't have enough people to fill the picket lines, so they have hired non union help that they pay minimum wage.

Liberal Logic - Teacher Unions Edition

I was reading a post by a fellow blogger who is a conservative and a public school teacher.  She referenced an article on Pajamas Media.  The article is about a comment that was made by President Obama in regards to the Rhode Island firing the entire staff of a public school that has been failing for years.  President Obama's comment seemed to back the move and this of course is upsetting the unions.  The article itself was interesting, but one of the comments is what really caught my attention:

I am so disgusted by all this teacher bashing! These are our best and brightest, and they have dedicated themselves to serving our children. Has the author of this article have no shame? I know that we have some problems with some of our schools, but mass firings and “union breaking” is never the answer. Here’s a few simple steps we can take to improve education now:

1. Raise teacher pay by at least 15-20%. That will attract more talent.


2. Grant teachers a better benefit package than most currectly enjoy. There’s no reason why people who have dedicated their lives to children cannot have 100% of their health care (families included) paid for. I’ve also endorsed a special retirement fund for teachers that the Federal govt can invest in. Possibly an additional $300 monthly, per teacher, into a special IRA account. Of course, we’ll need strict government over-sight and accountability of such a fund.

3. More time off. The fact of the matter is that most teachers are over-worked and under-paid. End the traditional school year in early to mid-May. That will give teachers a well-deserved extra month or so to re-charge their batteries. Teaching children is a very difficult job, especially when the classroom is filled with inner-city children from broken homes (i.e. the Newark and D.C. school systems). 

4. More administrators to help teachers. I always advocated a “teacher first” policy, in the sense that the “first” employee of any school should be the teacher. If a teacher needs help, each should have their own administrator at their beck and call. Admimistrators should be paid well ($65,000+ yearly), but not included in the special teacher retirement fund.

5. Finally, we should institute a “six-month” tenure called for by Medea Benjamin. Once a teacher has been employed full-time for six months, automatic tenure should set in. This will show that we are dedicated to our teachers, which will entice more productivity.


With these simple changes, we can fix our school systems within 5 years, save money and contribute to the fight on racism and global warming. It will just take some courage.

Where to begin.....
Contribute to the fight on racism...I am not trying to say that racism doesn't exist, but what exactly should tax payer money be doing to fight racism? 

Have you read all the information about the scandals around the data for global warming?  The science is far from settled. 

Six month tenure?  You get a job for life after working for six months!!!  What sort of craziness is this thought process?  A teacher (who could be as young as 22 with no job experience) should be allowed to never be fired before they even have finished one school year of teaching simply based on the fact that they have chosen an admirable profession?  What kind of sense does this make?

Ending the school year in mid May.  Now, I have never taught school and I am sure that it is a stressful job.  But so is being a doctor, a nurse, a police officer, a social worker, heck even when I was working in the direct mail fundraising field I was stressed out, after all I had meet to constant deadlines. Working in a retail store is a very stressful job; should they get three and half months paid time off every year as well? 

You want the government to have strict oversight of an additional IRA fund?  They had strict control over Social Security, how has that worked out? 


An administrator at your beck and call.  Does every teacher get their own administrator, or do they have several teachers?  If so, how they would be at the "beck and call" if they have more than one?  One of these teachers may have to wait a half hour.  I don't think James would find that half hour wait acceptable. 
 
I am in no way saying that teachers don't deserve gratitude, as they do.  James is correct that it is a difficult job, that doesn't mean that they should never be fired if they do a bad job.  Look at the teacher who writes loser on the top of papers he is grading.  I am sorry, James but this man doesn't deserve to keep his job especially since he has been talked to about this previously.  He thinks it is ok to call 6th graders losers.  It is not ok. 
 
Teachers salaries are not that terrible.  I am not saying that they shouldn't be better, but in Virginia the average salary is almost $44,000 and it is higher in Northern Virginia, where costs of living are higher.  You will never get rich being a teacher, but you can live on $44,000.  The median income in Virginia is $46,055.

AFL-CIO Admits to Sheep Membership

There is an interesting article on The Huffington Post. The premise of the article is that the reason Martha Coakley lost was due to lack of union support, more accurately, the democrats not utilizing the unions to their benefit.


"Data points provided independently to the Huffington Post show that union voters in Massachusetts were 15 percentage points more likely to vote for Attorney General Martha Coakley if they simply had been asked"

They need to be asked? "Coakley won union voters who had heard from their union by 10 points, while losing those who said they had not heard from their union by 5 points."

This is from data collected by the AFL-CIO. I am very surprised that they want to be so open about the fact that the members of these unions are just sheep who don't have minds of their own.

One must also question how they know so much about how their members voted. Are the people volunteering this information? It seems that after every election the unions have detailed data. This raises a very red flag for me. I personally don't have a problem telling someone who I am voting for, but I know plenty of people who do.

The article goes on to say that had Coakley's campaign reached out to the unions they would have mobilized for her. Didn't they know there was an election? It certainly got a great deal of coverage the last two weeks. I can only imagine how many commercials were on television during the last few weeks.

Saul Alinski wrote the book on American radicalism - two books, in fact: a 1945 best-seller, "Reveille for Radicals" and "Rules for Radicals" in 1971. The "Reveille" title page quotes Thomas Paine... "Let them call me rebel and welcome, I feel no concern from it; but I should suffer the misery of devils, were I to make a whore of my soul."






Saul Alinsky, who was a labor and civil-rights activist from the 1910's until he died in 1972, has written here a guidebook for those who are out to change things. He sets down what the goal is: a society where people are free to live, and also aren't starving in the streets. A society where there is legal and economic justice. Then he sets out to say how to get there.






Alinsky spends a lot of time critiquing the idea that "The end does not justify the means." What end? What means? He feels that there are circumstances where one can and should use means that in other circumstances would be unethical. I am not sure I agree, but Alinsky certainly speaks with the voice of experience.






Alinsky's goal seems to be to encourage positive social change by equipping activists with a realistic view of the world, a kind of preemptive disillusionment. If a person already knows what evil the world is capable of, then perhaps the surprise factor can be eliminated, making the person a more effective activist. Alinsky further seems to be encouraging the budding activist not to worry to much about getting his or her hands dirty. It's all a part of the job, he seems to say.






Alinski, the master political agitator, tactical planner and social organizer didn't mince words...






"Liberals in their meetings utter bold works; they strut, grimace belligerently, and then issue a weasel-worded statement 'which has tremendous implications, if read between the lines.' They sit calmly, dispassionately, studying the issue; judging both sides; they sit and still sit.






"The Radical does not sit frozen by cold objectivity. He sees injustice and strikes at it with hot passion. He is a man of decision and action. There is a saying that the Liberal is one who walks out of the room when the argument turns into a fight.






"Society has good reason to fear the Radical. Every shaking advance of mankind toward equality and justice has come from the Radical. He hits, he hurts, he is dangerous. Conservative interests know that while Liberals are most adept at breaking their own necks with their tongues, Radicals are most adept at breaking the necks of Conservatives.






"Radicals precipitate the social crisis by action - by using power. Liberals may then timidly follow along or else, as in most cases, be swept forward along the course set by Radicals, but all because of forces unloosed by Radical action. They are forced to positive action only in spite of their desires ...






"The American Radical will fight privilege and power whether it be inherited or acquired by any small group, whether it be political or financial or organized creed.


"He curses a caste system which he recognizes despite all patriotic denials.


"He will fight conservatives whether they are business or labor leaders.


"He will fight any concentration of power hostile to a broad, popular democracy, whether he finds it in financial circles or in politics.


"The Radical recognizes that constant dissension and conflict is and has been the fire under the boiler of democracy. He firmly believes in that brave saying of a brave people, "Better to die on your feet than to live on your knees!"


"The Radical may resort to the sword but when he does he is not filled with hatred against those individuals whom he attacks. He hates these individuals not as persons but as symbols representing ideas or interests which he believes to be inimical to the welfare of the people.


"That is the reason why Radicals, although frequently embarking upon revolutions, have rarely resorted to personal terrorism."


Alinski practiced what he preached. He said, "Tactics means doing what you can with what you have ... tactics is the art of how to take and how to give."






He uses eyes, ears and nose for examples...


Eyes


"If you have a vast organization, parade it before the enemy, openly show your power."


Ears


"If your organization is small, do what Gideon did: conceal the members in the dark but raise a clamor that will make the listener believe that your organization numbers many more that it does."


Nose


"If your organization is too tiny even for noise, stink up the place."






Alinski devised and proved thirteen tactical rules for use against opponents vastly superior in power and wealth.






1. "Power is not only what you have but what the enemy thinks you have.


2. "Never go outside the experience of your people.


3. "Wherever possible go outside of the experience of the enemy.


4. "Make the enemy live up to their own book of rules.


5. "Ridicule is man's most potent weapon.


6. "A good tactic is one that your people enjoy.


7. "A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.


8. "Keep the pressure on.


9. "The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.


10. "Major premise for tactics is development of operations that will maintain constant pressure upon the opposition.


11. "If you push a negative hard and deep enough it will break through into its counterside.


12. "The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.


13. "Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.


"The real action is in the enemy's reaction. The enemy properly goaded and guided in his reaction will be your major strength. Tactics, like life, require that you move with the action."

Alinski was hated and defamed by powerful enemies, proof that his tactics worked. His simple formula for success...


"Agitate + Aggravate + Educate + Organize"

Another Day, Another Radical - Craig Becker, Union Official

Here is yet another radical that is up for nomination to high level position. Craig Becker is up for a position on the Nation Labor Relations Board, a part of the Department of Labor. This board oversees secret ballot elections and resolves issues of unfair labor issues. This board has a great deal of power over how unions are administrated in businesses all across the country. Mr. Becker is the former attorney for both the AFL-CIO and the SEIU. In his own words unions are:


“formed to escape the evils of individualism and individual competition”


He goes on to say unions:


“their actions necessarily involve coercion”


“‘Employees' only choice, explained Mr. Becker, should be over which set of union officials get ‘exclusive’ power to negotiate their wages, benefits, and work rules.”


He supports home visits during the voting process, and allowing outside attributors to force contracts on workers without an up or down vote. His feelings about unions is that we should have only the choice to what union we join, if we refuse he should be able to pick that union for us.


Becker helped force tens of thousands of workers into state dictated unions. For example, Los Angeles SEIU Local 6434’s 2007 LM-2 report revealed that almost 63,000 people rejected membership in the union but are still forced to pay dues.


I happen to live in a right to work state, so I cannot be forced to join a union nor can I be forced to pay dues. That is not the case in some states, especially in the Northeast. If Mr. Becker has his way the laws of the northeast will be imposed all across the country.






His nomination was voted out of the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions committee yesterday. He will be coming up for an up and down vote on the senate floor. Please contact your senators regarding this nomination.

Reporting from Sacramento -- The Obama administration is threatening to rescind billions of dollars in federal stimulus money if Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and state lawmakers do not restore wage cuts to unionized home healthcare workers approved in February as part of the budget.Schwarzenegger's office was advised this week by federal health officials that the wage reduction, which will save California $74 million, violates provisions of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Failure to revoke the scheduled wage cut before it takes effect July 1 could cost California $6.8 billion in stimulus money, according to state officials.


The news comes as state lawmakers are already facing a severe cash crisis, with the state at risk of running out of money in July. The wages at issue involve workers who care for some 440,000 low-income disabled and elderly Californians. The workers, who collectively contribute millions of dollars in dues each month to the influential Service Employees International Union and the United Domestic Workers, will see the state's contribution to their wages cut from a maximum of $12.10 per hour to a maximum of $10.10. The SEIU said in a statement that it had asked the Obama administration for the ruling.
The cut was highly contentious during last winter's budget talks. Republican lawmakers insisted that the rapidly growing, multibillion-dollar state program, In Home Supportive Services, be scaled back significantly.Democrats fought major reductions in the program, which they say is a cost-effective alternative to nursing-home care, but ultimately compromised.Reversing the wage cut would require a two-thirds vote of the Legislature, meaning Republican support would be needed. Schwarzenegger on Wednesday sent U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius a letter urging the federal government to reconsider. "Neither the Legislature nor I make decisions to reduce wages or benefits lightly, but only as a last resort in response to an unprecedented fiscal crisis," Schwarzenegger wrote
