Quote of the Day - Cindy Vinson Edition

"Of course, I want people to have health care," Vinson said. "I just didn't realize I would be the one who was going to pay for it personally."

Cindy is a little unhappy with her new insurance rates.  Oh my.  I guess she bought into the whole free health care thing, didn't she?  I would like to know who exactly she thought was going to pay for it?  Oh, I know, the health care fairies.   

Welcome to reality Cindy.  She will be paying $1800 more per year, which includes her maternity care.  It isn't likely she needs maternity care considering she is in her sixties and retired, but the government knows best.  So pay up Cindy.  This is what you voted for when you pulled the lever for Obama.  

She is lucky, another Bay area resident will be coughing up and additional $10K per year for his family of four.  It isn't like he needs that money for food or maybe sending his kids to college on day.  Since he is in mid 50's, I would think he doesn't need maternity coverage either.  But hey look on the bright side, you may need Viagra soon and I think that will be covered.

Drudge Hints at "Bombshell Tape" - Election Game Changer? - I Think Not

Apparently President Obama made some sort of speech while still a senator.  It is purported that he says:

  'Need help with basic skills, how to shop, how to show up for work on time, how to wear the right clothes, how to act appropriately in an office'

If they are expecting that to be a game changer, they are fooling themselves.  I can think of a million examples of the people on the left thinking that the rest of us need government to tell us how to run our lives.
Here is just a short list of things I can think of off the top of my head:

1. Michelle Obama editing a web page that describes the proper way to grocery shop.  After all, you are too much of an idiot to be trusted with that chore on your own.
2. Mayor Bloomberg making certain sizes of sodas illegal in New York City
3. The Chicago school systems (among others around the country) not allowing parents to pack little Johnny a lunch.  After all, you may not do it right.
4. The video that Reason TV did at the Democratic National Convention where one of the woman said we should have choice as long as the outcome is "good" and the government should have a say what those choices are.  You are too dumb to decide for yourself what is a good choice, you need them to help you decide.  

Look at how people have just sat down and shut up when trans fats, salt, and sodas were taken away from them in New York City.  I will tell you what, if a public school tried to tell me that I couldn't pack a lunch for my child, I would be there with pitch forks and torches.  Since that doesn't seem to happen, people just allow the government to make these choices for them.

The people on the left will not only not see anything wrong with that statement, they won't understand why I object to it.

A game-changer?  unless there is something more, hardly.

You Can't Fix Stupid

I am sure many of you have seen or heard about the father of the year who tied up his one-year-old child with duct tape.

The genius then decided to photograph it and post it on Facebook under the caption:

The photo went viral shortly after being posted.  I saw it a few nights ago and asked the person who posted it to tell me it was photoshopped.  No such luck.  This child abuser will be dealt with by the police and luckily for that poor little girl, child protective services has gotten involved and God willing she will never have to be subjected to this again. 

But what I found just as disturbing as a father doing this to his helpless child is this quote from a friend of his:

 "[He was] being playful with his child, people play with their children differently."

Mr. Curry is now in the cross hairs of law enforcement and child protective services.  But his friend, JeVanna Cubbins, is out running loose in the world.  You can't fix this kind of stupid.   Let's just all hope this woman can't be bothered to vote.

Well, the really sad state of this poll says that it really wasn't.  It doesn't breakdown what offices these people hold, while that matters, it is still very scary that how badly they did. 

But those elected officials who took the test scored an average 5 percentage points lower than the national average (49 percent vs. 54 percent), with ordinary citizens outscoring these elected officials on each constitutional question. Examples:



•Only 49 percent of elected officials could name all three branches of government, compared with 50 percent of the general public.


•Only 46 percent knew that Congress, not the president, has the power to declare war -- 54 percent of the general public knows that.


•Just 15 percent answered correctly that the phrase "wall of separation" appears in Thomas Jefferson's letters -- not in the U.S. Constitution -- compared with 19 percent of the general public.


•And only 57 percent of those who've held elective office know what the Electoral College does, while 66 percent of the public got that answer right. (Of elected officials, 20 percent thought the Electoral College was a school for "training those aspiring for higher political office.")

Does the left want to rethink the jokes that they are making about Bachmann arranging lectures on the Constitution?  Seems to me they are sorely needed.
