Huma, The Enabler, Stands By Her Man

Apparently Anthony Weiner has not cured his fetish of sending pictures of his penis to women he doesn't know. Knowing this information he and his wife Huma decided to the enter the race for the democratic primary in the New York City Mayoral race. It is pretty much a given whomever the democratic candidate for mayor is, wins the election.  There are notable exceptions, but not many.

Yesterday during a press conference Weiner's wife Huma not only decided to stand by her man, but also spoke. She talked about how hard it was on her marriage, how they have gone to therapy to deal with their problems, but she has been able to forgive him, for herself, for him, and their son. Well how nice for her. I am not going to sit in judgement of someone else's marriage. She wants to stay with a man who was having phone sex with another woman while she was taking care of infant, that is her choice. It isn't a choice that I would make, but hey to each their own.

During her press conference yesterday she also talked about how they discussed these issues before making the decision.  You decided to go ahead anyway even when you knew that the public wasn't aware of the latest of his phone pals?  Did she think it wouldn't come out or did she just not care?  I suppose all this negative press that her son will one day have access to doesn't matter.  What kind of mother wants her child to read those kinds of stories about their father?  I know I sure wouldn't.  This man has some deep psychiatric problems.  I don't think anyone can deny that at this point.  I am not a big believer in the label of sex addict, but in this case it just may fit.

She also stood up in front of the press, and the entire country for that matter, and talked about how this happened "to them".  No, sweetie, this isn't something that happened to you.  This is something that you and your husband brought onto yourselves.  No one forced you two to enter the race.  It is not like their aren't other people running in the primary.  No one was beating down your doors on bended knee begging you to come and save New York City because no other qualified democrat was wiling to take on the job.

This is about two people who are so hungry for power and prestige that they will willingly throw away their pride and dignity to achieve it.  A man who can't control his urges and then so easily lies about those urges cannot be trusted.  He is also putting himself in the position to blackmailed.  How exactly is this the right thing for New Yorkers?  It also goes to show how little they think of the voting public.  You are so stupid that you can't see for yourselves that this man is not qualified to hold public office.  You will just buy into the rhetoric that they are fighting for the middle class.  By democrats own definition of "rich"  they are.  So what do they know about your plight?

The keys to Gracie Mansion are more important than shielding their son from having an archive of tawdry information available for his reading displeasure.  That tells you everything you need to know about both of these people.

Huma, the put upon wife, has enabled her husband's behavior.  She is not worthy of any sympathy.  Any and all pain he brings into her life and that of her son falls squarely on her shoulders.  No wonder the founding fathers warned us of the perils of power.

The Incredible Ego of Anthony Weiner

As we all know Anthony Weiner has decided that he wants to be New York City's next mayor.  Now let's be honest here, he won't be all that much of  a step down from Nanny Bloomberg, but he really does expect people to forget his perv past.  Apparently he doesn't even like it when a democrat questions him on it.  District leader Chris Owens asked:

“I have a three-word question: How dare you?”

“I am outraged and disgusted by you.  Both by what you did and by the fact that you have the arrogance to run for mayor.

“I want to understand how you explain to us how you used a public facility to tweet offensive material to . . . minors you did not know, you then lied about it . . . and now you come back.”

His response:

“I appreciate the question Chris, and I know some people may feel that way.

“I think it might be influenced in part . . . [because] I supported Yvette Clarke over you when you ran for Congress [in 2006.]”

“I apologize to you, but now people have to decide whether or not that disqualifies me.
“Frankly, everyone wasn’t going to vote for me whether I did that or not.”

But he fully expects people to vote for him in spite of it:

When asked about how he handle a teacher accused of doing the same type of thing his response was:

“If you believe that my personal failings disqualify me, then don’t vote for me. I’m going to win this election and I’m going to govern this city really well. You’re supporting another candidate who’s not going to win.”

Sadly I am not even stunned by this.  I should be, but I am not.  This is what our government has come to.  We elect people who have shown through their actions that they can't be trusted.  The truth is this, we get the government that we deserve.  When we have candidates that can text obscene photos of their private parts to underage strangers and they truly believe that they still have a political future there can be no wonder why our country is in such a mess.

Elected officials are entrusted with tax payers dollars, they make choices that affect how we live our daily lives, and expecting them to be someone who has character and sense of decency isn't a great deal to ask.  We all make mistakes, we all have things in our lives that we wish we could take back, but sexting pics of your penis and various stages of undress, while in a building that is paid for by the tax payers, really is a step too far.  The fact that he even may have a chance to become an elected official again is nothing short of tragic.

Do we really have any chance of turning this ship around if this is the type of people we elect?   Congressman Mark Sanford should not be in congress and Anthony Weiner shouldn't be the next mayor of New York City.  Morality matters, no matter what letter you put after your name.

Yep, this is really happening in the United States.  I don't feel sorry for the people who live there, they did this to themselves.  But the many tourists shouldn't be made to deal with this insanity.  

The Ugly Politics of a Tragedy

New Jersey and Parts of New York City are quite literally a disaster area.  Hospitals are without power after the back-up systems also failed.  The National Guard had to carry the patients out to relocate them to another hospital that can give them care.  There is little power, train stations are flooded, tracks are littered with debris (such as boats), some track is simply missing.  There are people in  New Jersey that have lost most of what they own.  Think about that, all their family photos, mementos, their keepsakes of people who have passed away; things that can never be replaced.

Chris Christie is being given sh*t about saying that President Obama has been available and given him the resources he needs to help the citizens of his state rebuild their lives.  I am floored.  This is how far people are willing to go to play politics days before a presidential election?  A very sad state of affairs, very sad.  No, it is shameful.

While of course going to survey the damage is nothing more than a photo-op, but the reality is this; had he not gone and done that photo-op he would be lambasted for that.  Sadly, we have gotten to the point in this country that no matter who is president when these tragedies take place they are a in a no-win situation; damned if they show up, damned if they don't.

Tucker Carlson has gone as far as to say that Christie can't stand Romney and he is saying this to get back at him for some reason that he doesn't clearly define.  Others have said he is positioning himself for a run for the presidency in 2016, therefore it is in his interests for Governor Romney to lose.

It wasn't all that long ago that people were talking about Christie was going to be the VP pick, and what a mistake that would be.  Christie was a supporter of Mitt early on, giving him calls of RINO for turning his back on the more conservative candidates.

Lets look at the facts, Christie has travelled around the country to campaign for Mitt.  It seems to me that people are taking their hatred of President Obama out on Christie.  The truth of the matter is, the president does very little when it comes to a disaster.  Most of the work is done on the state level.  The president signs a declaration of major disaster that allows FEMA to start flowing federal money into the state.  But the real work is done by NGO's such as The Red Cross, The United Way, and countless others.  The calls for the National Guard comes at the state level.  The federal government can do nothing without permission at the state level (Remember Gov. Blanco during Katrina dragging her heals?).

Yes, there is an election in five days.  Yes, I personally believe that President Obama being re-elected would be a horrible for this country.  Yes, Governor Christie is not a conservative.  None of that changes the facts that we should be thinking about the people who are living in the aftermath of the storm before we think about the politics of it all.

I think that the people who are criticizing Christie who is dealing with an overwhelming situation should STFU.  He is the one that is walking around looking at the affected areas with the residents and listening to their tears and stories of grief.  I watched a little of it on the news yesterday and I had tears streaming down my face watching this woman talk about the things from her deceased husband and son that were lost.  She is devastated.  While it is true that she should be grateful that she survived, it doesn't make her loss any easier to deal with.  Her emotions are raw.

I was appalled at how the left politicized Katrina and turned President Bush into a murderer and uncaring monster to score political points. I am equally appalled that it seems the right is bound and determined to do something similar to Governor Christie for simply saying that President Obama has helped to give him the resources he needs.

This is not about politics.  This is about a tragedy of almost biblical proportions.  Real people are in pain, almost sixty people lost their lives, the temperatures in that area are dropping in the overnight, and these people are without heat and basic necessities.  The water systems are not working correctly in some areas, which can cause major health problems.  People are living in makeshift shelters, trying to get over the trauma of losing most of what they own.  There will be people who will be unable to work and will not get paid.  In these times when people are already struggling to pay the bills, think of the long-term effects that can have on their lives.

Get over yourselves.  This isn't about politics, this is about helping your fellow-man.  If you are unable to help, then the least you can do is shut up.  This is a time to come together and do what we can to help those who have lost everything.

This has just furthered my belief that politics are ugly and downright inhumane.

Freedom Tower Taking Shape

It has taken for what seems like forever, but the new Freedom Tower is now etched on the New York City Skyline.  The Steel has reached to the 87th floor.

It is good to see this project coming along.  America may have been kicked on 9/11, but we will survive and this tower is a testament to that.  

Alleged Bomber in Custody

The authorities have in custody an American citizen from Pakistani descent for the failed bombing attempt in Times Square over the weekend.  Shahzad Faisal  was picked up while he was trying to flee the country at JFK Airport.  He was headed to Dubai. 


Faisal is a 30 year old man who is from Connecticut.   It is interesting that he has waited two days before trying to leave the country.  He would have to known almost immediately that the bomb didn't go off.  So that leaves the question what type of help did he receive over the past two days and by whom.  It has always been a hallmark of al-Qaeda to have multiple attacks. 

We must give a big thank you to the NYPD and the FBI - they have done a great job getting this crazy man into custody.  We will be hearing much more on this in the days to come.
