Things That Make You Say Hmm...........

There are Lay away Santa's popping up all over the country to help people pay for toys that are on lay away.  Yet we continue to live in society where Christmas is a dirty word.   Many retailers won't even use it.  But, they sure like profiting off of it don't they?

Tim Tebow is brutally ridiculed for his Christian beliefs.  I guess the better role model would be James Loney who was recently pulled over for suspicion of drunk driving after causing a multiple car accident.  He was passed out in his car and when he woke up he fled the scene, but only after hitting yet another car.  When police tried to give him a breathalyzer he bit off the mouthpiece and spit it at the cop.  But no worries, he can keep his million dollar contract.  The Dodgers announced it won't affect his contract.

The U.S. national debt has been increasing by an average of more than 4 billion dollars per day since the beginning of the Obama administration.

If the federal government began right at this moment to repay the U.S. national debt at a rate of one dollar per second, it would take over 440,000 years to pay off the national debt.

If Bill Gates gave every single penny of his fortune to the U.S. government, it would only cover the U.S. budget deficit for about 15 days.  So, can we stop with the stupidity that taxing the rich would take care of our problems.

The U.S. Senate in all of its brilliance feels that we can pay for a payroll tax break by taking the money from new home buyers.  Yet, democrats will continue to tell you that they have not raised taxes on the middle class.  Why exactly do we think that putting money into Fannie and Freddie is a good idea?  Didn't this last housing bubble do enough damage?

Things That Make You Say Hmm

If Warren Buffet was so concerned that he is not paying enough in taxes why doesn't he change his pay structure? Isn't he CEO or something? I thought I heard that somewhere.

Al Gore is going to have a 24 hour climate-denier-athon to show people where the money is coming from for the scientists who are "deniers". Is he also going to include a graph of how his bank account has gotten larger and larger by the people who are true believers?

The rumor is that Michele Bachmann is going to hit Perry on his statements on social security reform. Didn't she say less than a year ago that it was? Sorry Michele, but you should be ashamed for not being more honest with the American people about the much-needed reform of our entitlement programs. I expect that level of dishonesty from Romney.

Speaking of Social Security, Chris Matthews, in all of his infinite wisdom, has decided that Social Security can't be a Ponzi scheme because it mandatory and Ponzi schemes are voluntary. Doesn't that make it even worse than a Ponzi scheme?

The left is blowing a gasket over Herman Cain's tribute to the victims and rescue workers on 9/11. Would it have been better that he didn't even acknowledge the day? Nothing in his video even remotely hinted at policy, just a tribute to America and the victims of the day. Or was it just his singing of God Bless America that they found so insulting?

Things that Make You Say Hmm

The teachers in Wisconsin will still have no deductible and their payments will still be less than 28% of what federal government workers pay.

The media has been pretty much silent when it comes to the pro union protesters who carry signs with images of Hilter and Mubarak.

Jesse Jackson once complained that abortion was black genocide and used Margaret Sanger's words as proof.

"Public sector unions insist on laws that serve their interests -- at the expense of the common good." - F.D.R.

Things that Make You Say Hmm

The State of Illinois just raised taxes by 67%.  How much would they have gone up if Chicago had gotten the Olympics?

Death threats against Palin is said to be at "unprecedented levels".  It must be because of the violent tea party.

Senator Webb is not happy with the President's job on healthcare "You can't turn something that complicated loose on the United States Congress".  Yet, he voted for it and doesn't seem to have a position on repeal.

The University spent $60,000 for the T-shirts given out at the memorial service for the victims of the Tucson shooting the other night.

Since the shooting Democrats have been talking about introducing legislation that will restrict speech in order to keep our freedoms.

The Dems would like to change the seating at the State of the Union.  Instead of boy/girl they want dem/repub.  Yes, that will bridge the divide.

Things that make you say hmm - President Clinton Edition

"DSCC funds go towards efforts to unseat far-right Republican senators like admitted sinner David Vitter..."

A line from a buckslip included in the fundraising appeal from none other than President Clinton.

I did fundraising for a really long time, they need to rethink including this line with a letter from President Clinton.

Things that make you say hmm - Liberal Charity Edition

Tax returns for the President and the Vice President were released on Thursday.

The Obama's gave slighty under 6% to charity

The Biden's gave a whopping 1.44% to charity

I gave 15.6%.   The most of which went to keep Washington DC kids in private/charter schools from a voucher program.  A program that democrats stop funding when they took control of Congress.

Hmm, The Obama's and the Biden's certainly are more generous with my money than they are with their own.

Things that make you say hmm - Income Tax Edition

Fiscal year 2008 7.75 billion hours spent filling out tax forms

$31.5 billion spent on tax software, photo copies, accounting services and other tax related services

For the fiscal year 2009, 1909 forms listed on IRS.Gov

$159.4 billion - the amount that corporations spent on tax compliance in 2008

24,000 - The amount of pages needed for General Electric to file its 2008 tax return

In 2009 45 countries streamlined or lowered coporate tax rates.  The U.S. was not among them

In 2009 it is estimated that 47% of U.S. households will pay no federal income tax

The top 5% of taxpayers contribute 60% of revenue

The top 10% of taxpayers contribute 75% of all revenue

Hmm, if this doesn't make someone to take a serious look at the flat tax I don't know what will.

Also, Mr. President, exactly how is it that the "rich" are not paying their fair share?

$47M - the amount that Romney care is over budget for 2010

$900M - the amount that Romneycare is estimated to cost in 2011

Things that make you say hmm

In the senate healthcare reform bill doctors will be fined if they administer too many tests.  Why am I being told that there will be no rationing?  Doesn't it make sense that doctors will not give some necessary tests if they are going to be fined?

Have you noticed that since healthcare reform is on the front burner, you no longer hear stories about soliders being turned down for some medical treatments by the VA?  These stories were all the rage when the Iraq war was the front burner story.  Could it be that so that we won't realize that the VA is a government run healthcare system that is a broken system that doesn't work very well?

Sen. Blanche Lincoln - D of Arkansas is polling behind all four of the republican contenders.  Her seat has been moved from clear advantage to incumbent to narrow advantage from veteran election forecasters.  Keep those faxes and emails to her offices coming.  This could make the difference between real reform and what Pelosi and Co. are trying to shove down our throats.

The National Institute of Health is spending more than a half million dollars to study whether teenagers living in urban areas that carry guns and drink are more likely to be shot.  Gun toting drunk teenagers; hmm, wonder how that is going to turn out.  Give me the $650,000 because I can tell you that the answer to that question would be yes.

President Obama announced today he wants to see how election fraud issues are handled in Afghanistan before making a decision on troop levels.  Will it matter who is the president if the Taliban and/or al Queda takes over again?

Another campaign promise has been waylaid.  Then Sen. Obama felt that President Bush was not being aggressive enough to stop the genocide in the Darfur region of Sudan.  He has announced a program that has more carrots then sticks.  The Sudanese government has taken advantage of every incentive offered, yet have not kept their end of the bargain to make changes.  Much like the North Koreans.

Asian countries seem to have no qualms using images of the holocaust as a form of advertising.  A wax museum used a picture of a saluting Hilter as a billboard.  After compliants from both the Germans and Israelis it has been taken down.  Hey, Maybe Anita Dunn should live there, they most likely love Mao as well.

Carbon tax credits sell on the European commodities market for $20/share.  The cost of carbon credits from the Cash for Clunkers program in the US was about $500.  A really good use of our tax money wouldn't you say?

Things that make you say hmm, healthcare reform edition

Here are some things that I have been pondering about lately.  Let me know what you think.

The Baucus bill in its current form will put much of the costs on the states. Does that mean that President Obama will be able to say that he kept his promise of no new taxes on middle class American’s even after my state taxes increase?

Are the states going to be forced to accept these additional costs? Doesn’t the 10th amendment mean anything anymore?

Why should I pay higher taxes starting in 2010 when the program doesn’t start until 2013?

Is it fair that the people of Nevada are exempt from much of the additional costs for three years because Harry Reid is in a tight re-election race?

If Nevada is exempt shouldn’t California be exempt as well? California’s economy is in real trouble. If that is the basis of the exemption shouldn’t all states that have deficits be exempt?

If all states that have deficits are exempt wouldn’t that mean almost all states would be exempt?

Are you comfortable with the bill saying that people can be jailed for not having health insurance?

Wouldn’t it just be cheaper to give the people in the country without insurance money to pay for health insurance?

If there is so much waste in Medicare/Medicaid why isn’t being fixed?

Why are the penalties higher for having pot than for Medicare fraud?

Sen. McCaskill told Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday that almost $1 billion could be saved by Medicare not paying for the scooters that senior’s with walking issues use.

Is it fair to assume that all people that have medical debt never pay it off? If that is true, then I must be an idiot. I paid all my medical bills when I was sick.

Is it just me?

President Obama during the run-up to the election hammered home the point that Iraq was a war of choice and Afghanistan was a war of necessity. So why is it that 8 months after taking office he still doesn't have a plan?

President Obama said during his interview with George Stephanopoulos yesterday that if you have to look up the meaning of taxes in the dictionary you are really stretching it. If it meets the definition than isn't it actually a tax?

President Obama didn't realize that ACORN was getting a lot of federal funding. Did he not read the bills he voted on while in the senate?

President Obama doesn't think that an obviously corrupt organization like ACORN getting millions of tax dollars is a high priority.

Attorney General Holder has never read the report regarding the CIA investigations already done regarding the interrogations of alleged terrorists. Wouldn't you think that he should have read the report before deciding to start another investigation?

President Obama has no interest in increasing the size of government. HUH? Is he delusional?

Samantha Power, the women who was fired from the Obama campaign for calling Hillary Clinton a monster in an interview, is now a member National Security Council and is married to Cass Sunstein.

A letter in today's edition of the Washington Post came from a man who is upset about a cartoon about Michelle Obama taking an armoured limo to the farmers market. He described the first family as living under siege due to the right winged nuts. Did he think that Laura Bush would have been able to walk across the street on her own? Clearly this is part of the problem. Did they forget what was said about President Bush?

22% of Fox News Channel viewers consider themselves independents. Why wouldn't the President not want to reach those people?

With all the interviews that President did yesterday, he was only asked about ACORN by ABC. Did the rest not think this is an important story?

Things that make you say hmm

During a debate between the candidates for Virginia's governor yesterday Democrat Creigh Deeds said:
"No, I'm not going to raise taxes. But I am the only person on this dias who will sign a transportation plan that will raise new money."
How exactly are you going to raise money without increasing taxes?

Yesterday the first lady made a stop at the local farmer's market to promote healthier eating habits. She is an advocate for lower income people having access to healthy and organic foods. She spent $5 for a dozen eggs. Does she think that lower income people can afford to spend $5 for eggs? I am not lower income, but I am not going to spend $5 for a dozen eggs.

The DNC has an ad out featuring Glen Beck. Is he running for something?

Nancy Pelosi stated the other day that the rhetoric sounds familiar. She is referring to the riots after the verdict of the murder trial of Harvey Milk's killer. Harvey Milk was murdered because a man was upset at not getting his job back. What has that got to do with what is going on today?

Have you noticed that the number of uninsured has dropped from 50 million to 30 million? Has the twenty million gotten insurance in the past few months? And why exactly is the press not asking what happened to these twenty million people?

The Danish tourist agency did a video featuring a young women holding a young baby asking for the father to contact her. She met him at a bar and didn't remember his name. So, are they trying to say that they have a bunch of loose women who drink too much so it is a good vacation spot for young horny men?

Even Jay Leno and John Stewart are turning on ACORN.

Today Michelle Obama met with democratic woman activists. In her speech she talked about how all women need to work for health care reform. So, I guess as well as being racist and I am not a good woman now too.

Nancy Pelosi has a new fundraising ad out, The September Money March. Hmm, where ever did she get the idea about a march?

Not one single arrest was made at the DC March last weekend. If we were angry and violent wouldn't at least one person have been arrested?

Things that make you say hmm

President Carter's book Peace Not Apartheid is recommended reading of Usama bin Laden.

Speaking of Mr. Carter, in an interview with NBC Nightly News he says:
"...the overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity is based on the fact that he is a black man, an African American..." That must be it. One of the people I trust most in the world is black; ssh don't tell him that I don't like him.

David Axelrod and company seem to be toning down the language used to describe the protesters; we are just wrong. This is step up I guess. We are no longer angry mobsters or terrorists, we are just misguided. Thanks for clearing that up.

Hey, I agree with President on something: Kanye West is an ass.

I was at fundraiser tonight. A columnist from the Washington Post told me that there were only about 65,000 people at the protest on Saturday. Hmm, we stretched from the Capitol building to the Washington Monument. We must have been pretty fat to need all that space for only 65,000 people.

Scooter Libby was at the fundraiser as well. He seems to have put all the unpleasantness behind him and has gotten back into the swing of his life. Good for him.

Charlie Gibson didn't know about the ACORN videos; he thinks it should just be left to the cables.

MSNBC is saying it is being done by conservative activists to demean President Obama.

Things that make you say hmm

A miracle happened. I finally found something that I agree with the President on. Yesterday during a radio show he told a caller that the takeover of financial sector happened under a conservative administration. On that we sort of agree. It did start under the Bush administration. My question becomes is that fact supposed to make me feel better? To me, that is a child’s answer. Is that the logic we should use to raise our children? Well mommy, Jimmy is allowed to stay out after dark so I should be able to as well.

AARP has spent $5.3 million on ads and direct mail to promote the healthcare bill. Didn’t they say they weren’t endorsing the legislation?

President Obama’s approval rating among democrats has fallen 13% points since January.

NBC has 29 items in their gift shop promoting President Obama. Such as the Yes We Did T-shirt. Yeah, they are not in the tank.

Senator Kennedy wants to change the law in Massachusetts to ensure that the Governor will get to appoint an interim Senator in case of an opening. Teddy is the one who championed this law. But I guess that since at that time there was a Republican Governor who would have replaced Senator Kerry had he won the presidency; it was ok. So let me get this straight Teddy; it is all about you. What is best for the actual voters doesn’t matter, just what benefits you and the Democratic Party is what is important?

Export/Import Bank is guaranteeing $2B in loans to Petro Bras for offshore oil drilling in Brazil. Again, it is ok for others to drill but not us? Doesn’t the left realize that offshore drilling is still offshore drilling? How can the argument still be believed that this is about the environment? Oh, by the way Petro Bras made billions in profits last year. Why are subsiding a foreign oil company anway?

In the most recent ratings of cable networks:
#2 Fox
#24 MSNBC
#26 CNN

MSNBC gets more viewers than CNN? That is truly stunning to me.

Jayson Blair, the disgraced NY Times reporter, is now a life coach.

Can someone please explain to me what "Wee wee'd up" means?

Things that make you say hmm

Finally, the oil off the shores of Florida will drilled for. Too bad we will paying the Russians to use it.

Dr. Ezekial Emanuel, special advisor to the President, thinks that doctors take the Hippocratic Oath too seriously. Really?

Oh, it gets better - Dr. Emanuel views on the elderly - “Treating 65-year-olds differently because of stereotypes or falsehoods would be ageist; treating them differently because they have already had more life-years is not.” Watch out AARP members. Can you say rationing?

Oh, by the way he doesn't like babies all that much either.

How come the French can use nuclear energy safely, but we can't? What do they know that we don't?

Sen. Spector says that they (Congress) needs to make decisions quickly, that is the reason that they don't read the bills. Maybe, just maybe, you can make the bills less than say 1000 pages and you will have time to read them and waiting a day or two wouldn't hurt.

Rep. John Conyers finds it odd that people want him to read the bills before voting on them. “I love these members, they get up and say, ‘Read the bill'... What good is reading the bill if it’s a thousand pages and you don’t have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you read the bill?” Umm, Congressman Conyers YOU HELP WRITE THE BILLS AND YOU ARE A LAWYER.

Things that make you say hmm

The healthcare bill in the senate contains an Office of Civil Rights.

ACORN may be getting as much as $5M in the senate healthcare bill.

The Senate healthcare bill contains money to train medical personnel. This money will have strings attached. Schools must have a ratio of minorities. Without the correct ratio, schools will lose funding. I thought this bill was about healthcare?

A democratic aide has told Politico that Barbara Boxer personality is abrasive and it is her way or no way. Ya think?

The New York Times called President Obama out on his claim last night about saving more than $2 trillion. He included funds for keeping troops at the 2008 levels in Iraq for the next 10 years. President Bush signed an agreement to have the troops removed before leaving office. The money would not have been spent anyway. Another words, he lied.

6 Million of the people that President uses in his number of uninsured are eligible for Medicare, but never signed up. 10 Million Of these people are in the country illegally.

The CIA had a secret plan (that was talked about in The NY Times) to kill top Al Qaeda members. THE HORROR!! Apparently this came as a surprise to congress.

In the latest Fox News Opinion Dynamics Poll 40% of people believe that taxes will not go up to pay for healthcare reform. Who are these people and what is wrong with them?

Things that make you say hmm

No firm number is known, but it appears that the Obama administration has 18 “czars”. This number is larger than the Romanov Dynasty in Russia, and almost as many as the 300 year history of Russian Czars. This is dangerous. These people answer to no one. There are no checks and balances.

In California, farms are being driven out of business due to severe water shortages. The water shortage is due to a fish on the endangered species list.

During the election cycle I heard Michelle Obama being interviewed saying that “Barack just gets it.” During her time in Russia, she was taken on a walking tour of some forests. She carried a purse that cost almost $6000. Does she get it? People are unemployed and losing their homes. It isn’t a very good idea to flaunt your personal wealth at this time of economic crisis.

$1.6 Billion is in the house version of the health care bill aimed at such things as walking paths, lighting of parks, and farmer’s markets. The senate version has no cap on amount spent. This is to lower obesity rates in this country. Farmers Markets will not decrease obesity among the poor; they can’t afford to shop at them. The poor rates of obesity are higher than the rates of the rest of the country, because they can’t afford healthier foods.

“Frankly I had thought that at the time Roe was decided, there was concern about population growth and particularly growth in populations that we don’t want to have too many of.” Justice Ruth Bader-Ginsburg. What populations is she referring to; minorities, the poor, or maybe the disabled? This is a truly scary statement.

Speaking of Justice Bader-Ginsburg, she has endorsed Judge Sotomayor in an article to appear in Sunday’s New York Times. Her endorsements are largely targeted at her Wise Latina comments.

European Countries, such as Sweden and Germany are lowering the amount of government spending to GDP ratios. The US is increasing.

If GM is now partially owned by American tax-payers, do I get an employee discount?

Counties that voted for John McCain are getting less than 50% of federal dollars compared to counties that voted for President Obama.

During the election process, the Obama campaign called the economy the worst since the Great Depression. VP Biden recently stated that they underestimated how bad it was. What kind of sense does this make?

Boston Crème Donuts which is based in Delaware is changing the corporate articles to be based in Canada by the end of this year. US tax rates for corporations will be rising; Canadian tax rates will continue to drop over the next three years. How may do you think will be following that lead?

Things that make you say hmm

The census questionnaire that we all are receiving next year is 28 pages. How many pages does it take to find out how many people live in your house? The constitution only requires a head count.

Barney Frank is still taking no responsibility for his actions in the housing crisis. Last night he told Bill O’Reilly that he only wanted to subsidize rental properties for the poor. In 2002 when the Bush administration was questioning Sallie and Freddie solvency his statement was very different. “Not facing any kind of financial hardship…” in 2003 He wanted to “roll the dice a little bit…” THANKS BARNEY.

The Atlanta 4th of July Tea Party permits have been pulled. The permit originally gave them permission to gather at property owned by Simon Properties. The owners of Simon Properties are very large donors of President Obama. They are currently looking for another place to hold the demonstration.

85% of the revenue from the cap & trade tax will go to special interests. This money had to be promised in order to get it a vote on the floor of the house tomorrow.

$27.5 billion is the amount for the stimulus package due to go shovel ready road projects. Remember, the bill that HAD to pass immediately. Only $191 million has been given to the states. Less than 1%.

Cap & Trade bill effect on your family:
Median electric bill $99.70 before bill - $180 after bill
Median water bill $68 before bill - $105.40 after bill
Median gas bill $167 before bill - $272 after bill

Cap & Trade will be voted on in the house tomorrow. Please call your Congressman

The Iranians have been disinvited to our 4th of July parties. Well, that will teach them!!

Things that make you say hmm

ACORN is changing it's name to Community Organizations International. Yes, that will solve the problems.

ACORN is suing the members of ACORN 8 and past whistleblowers.

5 of the top 10 attorneys (including the Attorney General himself) at the Justice Department cannot work on Guantanamo detainee issues due to conflict of interest problems. They represented 17 detainees while working for Covington & Burling. Who exactly is working on these issues then?

Approx. 200 Yemeni detainees will be sent from Guantanamo to Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia has a record of letting them go once they are "cured". Also, Saudi Arabia was put on the US List of countries that violate human rights one year ago. We can't keep them in Cuba because of human rights violations, yet we will send them to a country that does torture? This is respecting human rights?

Jennifer Daskal a new employee at the justice department sat in at a meeting at the white house for the families of the victims of the USS Cole bombing. Jennifer Daskal is a former attorney for Human Rights Watch. Her job there was to work for the release of the terrorists at Gitmo. Can you say conflict of interest?

During this same meeting the justice department was unable to tell the victims families definitely if we are at war with al Qaeda.

Rick Maya resigned his position of executive director of St. Hope. In his letter of resignation he talked about Mayor Kevin Johnson's ethical violations. These are the same violations that the fired Inspector General Walpin's report charged. Seems to back up the charges in Walpin's report. The FBI is now investigating for obstruction of justice charges due to deleted emails that were under subpoena.

The US Naval ship that is following the North Korean ship that may contain nuclear components is named USS John McCain. Does anyone else see the irony in that?
