The one and only poll being done by a national pollster has been completed:
Coakley - 50%
Brown - 41%
Undecided - 7%
Favorable/Unfavorable numbers:
Coakley 21% very favorable 22% very unfavorable
Brown 25% very favorable 5% very unfavorable
Independants numbers are as follows:
Coakley 21%
Brown 65%
These numbers are important as the fact is that people who have very strong opinions are the ones that are going to show up in special elections.
One of the fascinating things about these results is that Kennedy won this seat with 69% of the vote, so Martha Coakley only getting 50% of the vote is surprising. This is a very blue state.
MA's healthcare was reformed in a way that is much like the national bill that is presently in congress. The numbers for this is another view of what is going on with this election:
32% consider the reforms sucessful 36% consider the reforms a failure 32% undecided
National Healthcare Bill numbers:
36% strongly oppose 27% strongly favor
The most important number of all is: People who are certain that they will vote brings Scott Brown within 2 points of Martha Coakley.
All and all, I would say that these are pretty positive numbers for Scott Brown. After all, President Obama won the state with 62% of the vote.
I just read on Hillbuzz that Rasmussen did not mention that Joe Kennedy is running. They wonder if he will steal enough votes from Coakley to push Brown to victory. Could get interesting.
A belief in the written constitution. The belief that we are responsible for ourselves and for our families. The belief that we are allowed to fail. The belief in a strong national defense are a few of the things that make me just a conservative girl.
