Another One Bites the Dust - Chris Dodd Retiring

You have no idea how happy this makes me. I grew up in Connecticut, so this man was my senator virtually my entire life while living there. Now, I am 100% positive that he pressured into doing this. Dodd has an ego the size of all outdoors. He wouldn't have done this on his own. The polls were all against him, he had almost no chance of re-election. CT is another true blue state, and the powers that be didn't want to see the reliably liberal seat fall to republican hands. Now that he has dropped out, it will be harder for the republicans to take over the 30 year ultra-liberal seat.

The part of CT I lived in leans more conservative, Dodd doesn't normally win Fairfield County. I had told some friends that I would spend every weekend in CT working to get him out of office. I am not going to kid myself into thinking that a republican will be able to take this seat. It is very smart move for the Democratic Party, as the seat will more than likely stay in hands of the liberals. There are not really blue dogs in CT. That beast doesn't really exist there. My family there must be doing cartwheels. YEAH!!!!

Yes, say hello to Senator Dick Blumenthal!

Republicans had a good chance of winning this seat. Now the contest is over. I just wish I could get the McMahon interview tomorrow morning.

I don't think it's fair to count out the Reps just yet. We'll see how the election goes. If whoever wants to replace Dodd is the same liberal douche that he was, they might not buy it. Not saying they won't, but it could happen.

It is unlikely. Like I said, I grew up there. For the republican party it would have been much better if he decided to run.

The majority of the people who live in the state are progressives. Although, when Lieberman ran as an independant, it was against a VERY far left guy.
