Quote of the Day - Al Gore Edition

I get the criticism, I just don't agree with it.
Al Gore when asked about the hypocrisy of selling Current TV to al Jazeera, an organization that is funded by oil money.  How nice for him. I guess with tens of millions of dollars, it makes it easier not to see what everyone else does.

PSA from Milwaukee Sherriff Gets Him in Hot Water - Video

Many feel he is trying to encourage vigilante justice.  Protecting yourself in your own home isn't being a vigilante.  Asshats.

The Pro Abortion Crowd Lowers Itself Even Further - Video

This is one of the most repugnant things I have ever seen.  Happy Anniversary "Baby"?  Really?  He even uses the word baby several times throughout the video.  Disgusting, really disgusting.

I am also appalled that they used a black man when you consider that 1 out 7 black babies in this country is now aborted.  Like it or not, the facts are the facts, one of the reasons that the black community's numbers have not increased is because they are killing their own before they even have a chance of life.  That's right, the black community has killed off half of its population through abortion.  That is genocide, pure and simple. The next time some black leftist starts in with how they have no power, just remind them of this pesky little detail.

Oprah and Lance - The Interview

Last night part I of the Oprah "No Holds Bar" interview with Lance Armstrong aired. I found myself compelled to watch.  I don't think it is a big secret that I am a huge sports fan.  I can't say I like all sports, but I do like many.  Cycling is not something that I would watch, ever.  But, as a cancer survivor I was always in awe of Lance Armstrong.  He was a hero to me.

Which of course was mistake #1 that so many of us around the country made.  But he wasn't just hero for winning, he was  a hero because of all the people who he did help with LiveStrong, and LiveStrong will continue to help; at least I hope they will.

But the arrogance of the man is truly stunning.  A few highlights lowlights:
LA: "I didn't know everybody. I didn't live and train with everybody. I didn't race with everybody. I can't say that. There will be people that say that. There will be people that say, 'OK, there are 200 guys on the tour, I can tell you five guys that didn't, and those are the five heroes', and they're right."
OW: How were you able to do it? Walk me through it. Pill deliveries, blood in secret refrigerators… how did it work?
LA: "I viewed it as very simple. There were things that were oxygen-supplying drugs that were beneficial for cycling. My cocktail was EPO, but not a lot, transfusions and testosterone.
"I thought, surely I'm running low [on testosterone following the cancer battle] but there's no true justification."
OW: Were you afraid of getting caught? In 1999 there was not even a test for EPO...
LA: "No. Testing has evolved. Back then they didn't come to your house and there was no testing out of competition and for most of my career there wasn't that much out-of-competition testing so you're not going to get caught because you clean up for the races.
"It's a question of scheduling. That sounds weird. I'm no fan of the UCI but the introduction of the biological passport [in 2008] worked.
"I'm paying the price and I deserve this. That's okay. I deserve it.
"My ruthless desire to win at all costs served me well on the bike but the level it went to, for whatever reason, is a flaw. That desire, that attitude, that arrogance."
There is a part of me that really feels that society is just as much to blame as Lance Armstrong is.  I am in no way trying to remove his responsibility for what he did, but this made me think:
LA: "I understand that. And while I lived through this process, especially the last two years, one year, six months, two, three months, I know the truth. The truth isn't what was out there. The truth isn't what I said, and now it's gone - this story was so perfect for so long. And I mean that, as I try to take myself out of the situation and I look at it. You overcome the disease, you win the Tour de France seven times. You have a happy marriage, you have children. I mean, it's just this mythic perfect story, and it wasn't true."
Now, it is perfectly true that Lance did a great deal to keep that myth going and was also responsible for helping to create it, the fact remains that our society wanted him to be "perfect", wanted him to be the "hero", the man we could all look up to and strive to be like.  There is this prevalent  thing in our society that we look at sports people as some kind of hero's.  Little kids grow up thinking "I want to be like Mike".  That isn't just unhealthy for our children, but it is also very unhealthy for that person as well.  The expectations of having to stay on that pedestal must be very exhausting, as well as almost impossible to do.  I mean just look at Joe Paterno.  Now, I personally know Penn State grads who refuse to accept that Paterno had anything to do with the cover-up and he was just the fall guy.  I think the evidence is quite clear that he was more than that.

Our children hear so little about the true heroes in our society, the first responders, the people who volunteer their time at homeless shelters to help the needy, the teachers who use their own funds to help keep the classroom stocked with the proper supplies,  the neighbor who comes and brings the little old lady who can't get out much on her own, some soup when she is ill, and countless others that do the right things everyday without any press and without huge payoffs from corporate sponsors.
I think one of the biggest lessons of this whole mess is that our society continues to put our admiration in the wrong places.  Lance Armstrong never deserved all the praise he got even when people didn't know he was cheat and a liar.  He rode a bike well.  Granted, that isn't something that I could do, but can he make a really good cheesecake that people just love to eat?  I can.

It is time that we start teaching our children to value different things.  To strive to be a good person, not the best athlete.  We should be teaching them to be kind and considerate, to realize that there is a whole world out there we people are less fortunate than they are, and it is the not only the right thing, but the Godly thing to try to help.

I sincerely hope that LiveStrong will survive this.  I am glad that he walked away from the board so that the work can continue.  We need research into cancer, we need services for people who don't have family members to help them during their illness, we need a place that people who can't afford the expensive medications to turn to so that their much smaller life compared to Lance Armstrong can continue.  That smaller life usually isn't as full as the arrogance that Lance has so clearly demonstrated and is now paying the long over-due price for.

R.I.P. America – All My Babie’s Mamas Set to Air on Oxygen

Just when you thought we couldn't go lower than Honey Boo Boo, comes this news:

The moral decline of our country continues and Oxygen is willing to capitalize on it.  Some rapper that I have never heard of, Shawty Lo, 35 (aptly named wouldn't you say) has 11 children with 10 different woman.  At least 7 of which are willing to be filmed in this degrading series about their lives and most inappropriately the lives of their children as the new hit reality series.   Oh, and let us not forget the 19-year-old girlfriend who will be joining in on the fun too.  Hey if she marries the man she will have a step child that is the same age as her.  Ooh, a dream come true.

Apparently he still continues relations with some of these women and obviously they all know about each other.  It will be a day in life of man trying to juggle 11 children and 10 woman.  What is not entertaining about that?

I really enjoy the nicknames he has for the little women:
E’Creia — “First Lady Baby Mama”
Angela — “Fighter Baby Mama”
Amanda — “Jealous Baby Mama”
Sujuan — “Wanna-be Bougie Baby Mama”
Tamara — “No-Drama Baby Mama”
Serena — “Shady Baby Mama”
Liana aka Pebbles — “Baby Mama From Hell”
Tamara is so low drama that she is allowing herself and her child to be exploited on national tv for money.  Yipee!!!

Of course there are the family groups that are collecting signatures to ask the station not to air this trash, but my question is where are the feminist groups and their outrage?  I mean I would think that they would fit to be tied over this, what exactly is empowering about hanging onto some man who obviously isn't all that concerned with the best interests of these women?  At least one of these women had a second child with this man.  She didn't seem to mind being treated like trash, or maybe she was stupid enough to think he would change his ways if the second child came along.

Where are the black groups such as the NAACP?  How can this possibly be considered something that should be looked at as entertainment?  The black community does have a huge problem with single parenthood.  70% of all black babies are born to single mothers.  Study after study has proven beyond all doubt that raising a child in a single parent home is more likely to lead to a life of poverty.  After all there are only so many rappers with his level of sexual desire to go around.  Not all black women will find such a "good catch" as these women have.  Doesn't this play into the stereotypes that we hear complaints about from civil rights "leaders" all the time?

I think the black community needs to have a physician heal thy self moment and take a serious look at how they are willing to portray themselves and the culture they are creating for the next generation.  I also think that people who work in the entertainment industry needs to do the same.  I also think that anyone that is willing to watch this exploitation of women and children needs to seek treatment at their nearest mental health facility, do it quickly, please.

My Apologies

I want to say that I am sorry for the lack of postings of late.  But, I do have some very good reasons.
I have been kind of in a funk of late, so that explains part of it.  But not all.

I also have taken some much-needed personal time to make some decisions in my life.  Big ones in fact.

I have come to the conclusion that I really need to simplify my life and start doing more things for myself.  So, I have decided to make some changes in not just how I live, but where I live it too.  I will be moving back to my home state of Connecticut.  Something that I never thought I would do, but here it is.  Never say never I guess is the lesson here.

I have been running myself ragged for the past several years trying to get certain things accomplished and one of the goals I was working towards has become out of reach for me.  So I had to re-evaluate what my goals should be.  In that thought process I realized the need to go home.  To be around people who have known me since I was a little girl.  People who really love and care about me.  People who understand what it is that I am looking for on a longer term basis for not just myself but for the people who love and care for me.

I want to clear my head of the distractions that I have allowed to take over in the past five years and concentrate on the things that really matter.  Living a life of giving and surrounding yourself with people who will always have your best interests at heart; family and loved ones.

Now I will still remain politically active, I will just be doing it from a different location and being in a place that gives me far more comfort than the craziness of the DC area.

So please be a little more patient and I will be back to posting regularly.  I still have some logistical things to work out, but I will return to normally scheduled programing soon.

Quote of the Day - Linda Weiss Edition

"So great to see you back! Your wife and son are beautiful! Please let me apologize again for any pain I caused you or the beautiful Huma ... it was unintentional ... I still think you are our liberal hero and we need you back in politics!!"
Linda Weiss, who sold her story about being sexted by Former Congressman Anthony Weiner, leaves this message on Weiner's holiday photo on his facebook page.

This is feminism today.  Yeehaa.
