The Radical Left is at it Again - Immigration Protesters Don't Know Who Marco Rubio Is

Sigh.  There was a rally about illegal immigrants, excuse me, undocumented workers and the people protesting holding signs about Senator Marco Rubio but they don't know who he is.

I am shocked, shocked I say.

Someone needs to explain to these people that Rubio is working on policy that will give them a path to citizenship.  Stooges.

Quote of the Day - Judge Hinkle Edition

“leaving an ineligible voter on the list is not a solution.  People need to know we are running an honest election."
Judge Hinkle, A Clinton appointee, on the lawsuit filed by DOJ to stop the state of Florida from purging illegals off its voter rolls.

DOJ and Holder are having a bad week.  The judge will allow the purge to continue.  As he should.  There should be no chance that an illegal is voting in our elections, or at least to close to no chance as possible.  Voting is right in this country, but that doesn't mean that you can do so illegally.

Immigration - My View

There is a great deal of back and forth about the Supreme Court ruling that was released Monday.  Arizona passed a law that was viewed by the right as help to the federal government to deal with the problem.  The left viewed it as, what else is new, racist.  A key provision in the law was upheld by the court.  States can ask about legal status of any person that has made contact with the police for any lawful stop.  That was 8-0.  Even the "wise Latina" realizes there is nothing wrong with the police asking about legal status to a person who is being questioned by the police.  The court struck down three other provisions.  One involving the warrantless arrest of someone with "probable cause" if law enforcement believes they have committed an offense that is punishable with deportation.  I can't even begin to say how glad I am that was struck down.  Under no circumstances do I want police officers to have that kind of power.  I am unwilling to give up my civil liberties for a terrorist or an illegal alien.

What the court really did was force the hand of congress.  We need immigration reform in this country.  We needed it yesterday.  The congress has been dragging their feet on these issues for decades.  For a variety of reasons.  Someone of which lay squarely on the soldiers of the far right.  Even the mention of limited work visa's is called amnesty by some.

We cannot continue on the path that we are on.  Something must be done.  Here is my view of what we should do.
Anyone that is currently in the country illegally must register at their most local immigration office.
Back taxes must be estimated and paid.  If you are unable to pay in full, a payment plan must be put in place.  If you do not pay on time every month you are deported.

You must have gainful employment

You must pass a written and oral test to prove you are proficient in the English language.

You must return to country of origin to start process of getting a visa.  We can make exceptions in cases of civil war and other levels of unrest in your country.  They will be handled on a case by case basis.  If you cannot afford to return to your country, you can find a charity that will help you with that.

You will not be given citizenship.  You will go to the back of the line.  You will wait seven years for citizenship from the date of your legal status goes into effect.  No credit will be given regardless of how long you have in the United States.

If you have been convicted of a violent felony, you will be returned to country of origin.

You will pay a fine not less than $5,000 to cover your costs of the visa.

You will not collect any entitlement for a period of five years with the exception of unemployment that is paid for by the insurance of your former employer.

You will sign an agreement that you will not seek any social security payments for money that was earned before legal status was given even if you paid into the system with fraudulent numbers.

The borders will be secured

Anyone caught crossing the border after this time will be detained and face a deportation hearing

We will overhaul the visa system.  We will give two-year work permits for low-skilled workers who want to work as a migrant farm worker.  (The majority of these people don't want to stay in the States, they come and work and return home)

High-skilled workers will be given higher consideration for visas.

The quotas for Mexico and South American countries will be higher.  We will offset these numbers by reducing the numbers of other countries.  TBD

Let's face the facts.  We will not deport all the illegals that are in the country.  It will not happen.  Maybe it should, but it won't.  So let's get a comprehensive reform plan into place that actually takes into account the workforce that we have, and the workforce that we need.

I have a friend who is from Columbia.  He came here many years ago.  He didn't have much of a problem getting a visa.  He is happily married, a father of three, a small business owner, a homeowner, and a former candidate for state senate.  Today, he would never get into this country.  No visa for him exists.  He has family that can't get a visitor visa to come see him.  One of his family members that would like to come is a small business owner back in Columbia.  He has a good life there, he has no desire to live here.  But he can't even come for a two-week vacation.  That makes no sense.

The time has long since passed that we admit our problems with the illegals is something that we have done to ourselves.  We have porous borders and a broken visa system.  It is next to impossible for a low skilled worker from Mexico to get a visa into this country.  It is very easy to say when you are on this side of the border that you wouldn't break the law and come here.  If you have to feed your children when there are no jobs, you may just make the same decision that they make.  It is the system that is broken and causing the problems.  We have built incentives for people to come here illegally.  Until we get rid of those, the problem will not be solved.  The problem will not be solved until we fortify the border.

The time has come that we stop arguing and get the job done.  Fortify the border, fix the visa system, and make a common sense approach to the people who are otherwise law-abiding citizens.  Immigration makes us better and stronger.  This problem is easily solved.  It is pure politics that is stopping this.  The time has come for congress to act.

Activism Alert - Immigration Rally at Supreme Court 4/25

Arizona's immigration law, SB 1070 has wound its way through the court system and will be heard by the Supreme Court on 4/25 (Next Wednesday).  The Greater Phoenix Tea Party has asked any and all local groups who care about the rule of law to help support the law by rallying in front of the court on that day.  The American Council for Immigration Reform will also be bringing people.

There will be a counter rally to be attended by Casa de Maryland, The New York Immigrant Coalition, and the New Sanctuary Coalition of New York City are scheduled to bus in people.

If you are able to make the rally, the Greater Phoenix Tea Party would greatly appreciate it.

Teacher Suspended for Telling Disruptive Student to Return to Mexico

The headline sounds worse than it is.  This is a kid who isn't in a public school to system to learn, shown by his behavior.  He was told he get the forms in Spanish, all he had to do was go to the office.  He kept telling her he is Mexican.  So, if you are a Mexican, go back to Mexico.  It seems pretty simple to me.  This child was causing other students to have their learning time disrupted as well.  There was a time when children actually respected their teachers.  I guess that is just another relic of a time gone by.

H/T The Conservative Lady.

Marco Rubio on Presidential Politics and Newt's Immigration Stance

I have this feeling Marco is going to be raked over the coals for his stance on immigration.  I happen to agree with him on most of what he says.  There are some cold hard realities to face; we do not have the political will to deport 11 million people.  The visa system is broken and doesn't work for the needs of the country.  If you are a low skilled worker from Mexico or South America and willing to come and work as migrant farm worker, the visa process is next to impossible.  That must be fixed.  The  borders must be secured.  We then need to figure out what to do with the otherwise law abiding people who have made a home in this country.  He is right, they shouldn't not get citizenship, but a worker's visa is a humane way of handling the problem.

Allred Releases Complaint Against Meg Whitman - Something Doesn't Pass the Smell Test

First, I will at least Gloria Allred this; she didn't put down the home address of the lying felon of a maid.

But if you look closely at this, Nicki, the lying maid says that she requested her last pay one month before she was fired. Hmm.

She also has said in this complaint that she has no record of her hours. If she didn't keep records, how would she know how much she is owed? Hmm.

This is a woman who presented a false drivers license and social security card and once she finds out that Whitman is running for governor she goes to her and asks for help to get legal status in the country and instead gets fired. What kind of creditability does this woman really have? This is politically motivated and anyone who doesn't see that just doesn't want to.

Diaz Santillan's attorney, Gloria Allred, said that Whitman did not send a gift when her maid's baby was born, never called or sent a card, and never called to find out how she was doing during the eight months she was at home with the baby.

Oh, poor woman. She didn't get a baby present. What an evil witch Meg Whitman is. Silly me, I was under the impression that employers were not required to give you gifts. The last employer I had that did give me gifts, I had to pay taxes on them. I wished they had kept them. On top of the fact that the Meg Whitman was under no legal obligation to give her job back after an eight month leave. The law only requires that a similar job be held for 90 days, and it is unlikely that the Whitman's would not have been required to even do that, as you need to have a certain number of employees to fall under that law; I believe it is fifty employees.

This rings too much like class warfare. Nicki the lying maid was paid $23 per hour; a very good wage for a part time job. But of course, the Whitman’s have boatloads of money, so they must be evil. The continued meme of the left, anyone who has money is bad. Let’s forget the fact that the Obama’s are rich, one of Obama’s bff, Valerie Jarrett is also quite well off. Let’s not talk about how she has made some of that money by being a slum lord. We’ll just look the other way on that, as they are progressives, and it’s all ok then. After all, she is not an evil republican.

"It is not fair that we work hard and then get thrown away like garbage with no thought about what will happen to us," Diaz Santillan said.

The problem is that Nicki the lying maid would still have a job had SHE not told Meg Whitman that she was in the country illegally. She cannot now say that she thrown away like garbage. She basically thought to herself, that she could blackmail the Whitman family into helping her getting a green card.  Since it didn't work, she has decided to throw Whitman under the bus.

Nicki the lying maid never spoke to the Whitman's about her pay, never complained about the hours she was working, and in her application form that she filled out she said was willing to do driving and run errands.  Yet, she expects everyone to believe her story four weeks before election day.  Well, good luck with that Nicki the lying maid.  I ain't buying what your are peddling.

Gloria Allred - Nicki the Maid is Rosa Parks?

Gloria Allred is delusional.  Here is some info from immigration attorney's:

"There is no additional legal obligation for an employer to follow up or respond to SSA with new information," said Gening Liao, a labor and employment attorney at the National Immigration Law Center in Los Angeles, which defends immigrants.

Liao added that it is "very important that the employer does not take adverse action against the employee" merely based on a letter from Social Security.

Nor was Diaz under any obligation to pursue the matter, Liao said. Correcting a mismatch is "primarily for the benefit of the employee," she said, to make sure they can collect all the benefits due them for their work.

Once the election is over is Allred and Co. going to care about what happens to this woman?  She could not only be deported, she could end up in jail as she is admitting to a felony.

October Surprise a Few Days Early - Whitman Being Hit with Charges of Hiring Illegals

Gloria Allred, publicity whore and attorney has lodged charges against Meg Whitman; republican candidate for governor of California.  The charges are that Whitman knowingly employed an illegal alien and that this woman was mistreated and underpaid:

Allred said that during Diaz's years of employment, Whitman caused her "to feel exploited, disrespected, humiliated and emotionally and financially abused."

Yet, Nicki Diaz worked for the Whitman's for 9 years.  If she felt all these things why did she continue to work for her?  On her employment application she gave plenty of other references, so she didn't seem to have a problem finding work.  She also was being paid $23 per hour.  Hardly a sum that I would say is putting her in a position to feel financially abused.

The problem is that Whitman has copies of her employment application that contains not only a valid drivers license it also has a copy of a social security card with the maid's name on it.  A social security number that is obviously falsified.  Ms. Diaz received the job through an employment agency as well.  One would logically think that the employment agency would be responsible in part for checking for the legal status of the people it sends out for employment.

Allred is known as a democratic supporter and is on record for giving money to Jerry Brown, the democratic candidate for governor.  Allred is nothing more than cheap opportunist that has a bizarre view of the world.  She is the attorney for two of Tiger's mistresses, one of which is now trying to sell a sex tape of the two of them.

I truly feel sorry for Ms. Diaz in the respect that it seems very odd indeed that she comes out with these accuastions less than six weeks before the election.  Her employment was terminated more than 14 months ago, in June of 09.  She is being used by someone who is afraid that Brown will lose the campaign.  I also feel sorry for her that doesn't realize that she has admitted to a felony by coming forward; she falsified a social security number.  She has put herself into a position that she can be jailed and/or deported.  Of course, this is California we are talking about, so it is unlikely anything will come of it.  As I am sure that Allred explained to her.  So much for upholding the law, Gloria.

Dem Congressman Donnelly Takes Swipe at Pelosi & Co.

This is a man who voted for TARP, the stimulus, and healthcare; but he chooses to attack the administration on illegal immigration.  Interesting.

The Senator and Peggy West - Senator Kyl Sends Geography Challenged Peggy West a Map

Senator Kyl was equally appalled that Peggy doesn't know that Arizona is a border state, so he decided not only to write her a letter, but also included a map for her future reference.  He also highlighted the state of Arizona for her.  Just in case she misses it again.

Can you imagine how mortified she must be right now?

It is stunning that we are electing people like this.  Wake up America, this is why this country is heading towards bankruptcy, we elect idiots!!

Mark Levin, Jon Kyl and Obama's comments on Border Security

There are some interesting things in this interview.  From people that I have spoken to that work on the hill, they have all said that Senator Kyl is not one to make things up.

Liberal Logic - Hilda Solis on Illegal Immigrants

What about Illegal doesn't the left understand?  If you don't have documentation it is against the law to be working in this country.  So how can they not be paid fairly?  This is one of the most moronic things I have ever heard said.  Someone really needs to get dictionary and the copy of the law that forbids employers from hiring people without a visa or social security number and explain it to her.

I doubt it will help, but at least that way she may get a clue.

Do Illegals Really Do Jobs that Americans Won't Do?

So much for the "Doing Jobs Americans Won't Do"  While I will be the first to admit that is the case in some instances, but it isn't true in all cases.  We need to stop allowing people to make that statement like it is fact.

Will it take Mass Causalities? It's not just Hispanics Crossing our Borders

Protecting our borders is the job of the federal government, it is about time that they start doing it.  Stop playing political games and fix this problem before we have another 9/11.  People will be much more apt to accept a worker's program if we know that our borders are secure.

ICE's Response to Arizona Illegal Immigration Law - Morton Doesn't Want To Enforce Law

The Obama administration seems to be taking the discussion on the illegal immigration law in Arizona to a whole new level.  Today, John Morton, an offical at ICE, told a reporter in Chicago that ICE may not neccessarily process illegal aliens turned over to them from officials in Arizona.

"I don't think the Arizona law, or laws like it, are the solution,"

Now, does an ICE official have the right to decide which laws they get to follow?  I would like to think that they can't.  John Morton may personally feel that the law is wrong, but should that mean he doesn't have to follow it.

The federal government has every right to take this to court.  While I am not one that normally favors lawsuits, but in this case I believe that this needs to be fast tracked to SCOTUS and let them decide.

What I would like to know what he feels the solution is?  While many on the right say deport them all, the reality is it isn't practical.  But part of the solution must be to secure the border.  The American people will much more likely to accept some sort of worker program if we know that the feds will actually do the job and not keep allowing people to slip through our borders illegally.  We went through this amensty thing already.  We allowed the illegals that were currently in the country to establish legal status, and we now have approximately 20 million more illegals.  That is what the American people don't have an appetite for.  Especially when you add terrorism into the mix.  How do we know these people who are coming in from our southern border are not coming to kill Americans in mass numbers?

Even if you ignore the terrorism angle, you can't ignore the costs to states.  A new report released for the state of Arizona is as follows:

$1.6 billion from Arizona's education system, $694.8 million from health care services, $339.7 million in law enforcement and court costs, $85.5 million in welfare costs and $155.4 million in other general costs.

But it is very telling that this administration's answer is just to ignore the law.

Calderon Continues his US Immigration Law Bashing & The Dems Are Loving It

The fact the President Calderon is bashing the new immigration law really doesn't come as a surprise.  After all, his country's economy would be in even worse shape if it not were for the billions of dollars that are sent back to Mexico from illegal aliens.  He is trying to protect his own in manner of speaking.

What I find so offensive about this is the standing ovation.  Especially when two of the people who were applauding, we none other than Janet Napolitano and Eric Holder.  Both of which have admitted that they have not bothered to read the bill.

I have an idea, let's adopt Mexico's immigration laws:

“Having traveled into Mexico last year to various cities on the Baja Peninsula, a distance of more than 1,000 miles round-trip, we were stopped more than 20 times at various checkpoints. At most of those stops, we were told to exit the vehicle and we were subjected to rigorous inspections. Where does Mexican President Felipe Calderón get off with his hypocritical outrage at our Senate Bill 1070?”

The Mexican government will bar foreigners if they upset “the equilibrium of the national demographics.”

If outsiders do not enhance the country’s “economic or national interests” or are “not found to be physically or mentally healthy,” they are not welcome. Neither are those who show “contempt against national sovereignty or security.” They must not be economic burdens on society and must have clean criminal histories. Those seeking to obtain Mexican citizenship must show a birth certificate, provide a bank statement proving economic independence, pass an exam and prove they can provide their own health care.
