What, Israel Doesn't Warrent a Mention as a Community That Experienced Terrorism?

“As we commemorate the citizens of over 90 countries who perished in the 9/11 attacks, we honor all victims of terrorism, in every nation around the world, we honor and celebrate the resilience of individuals, families, and communities on every continent, whether in New York or Nairobi, Bali or Belfast, Mumbai or Manila, or Lahore or London.”

From the White House "guidelines" on how to commemorate the tenth anniversary of 9/11.

I don't know about you, but I don't think I need Obama to tell me how I should mark the day.

Hmm, do you think leaving out Jerusalem was just a oversight?

Saved by a Jew - Hamas Turning On Their Own

This doesn't go into why he was attacked by Hamas, but it is not uncommon for members of Hamas to go after people they believe are not living every moment to go after Israeli's.  This is what the people who defend Hamas don't understand.  They are not interested in peace.  They are not trying to help the people in Gaza.  They are imprisoning them and making their lives more difficult than they need to be.

Rosie O'Donnell Says Helen Thomas is Right

Rosie, Rosie, Rosie.  You are so lost it is quite sad.

The Jews were in that land before Islam even exisited.  The Jews have been in that land for thousands of years, and the Israeli state was on its way to existance before World War II.  The Jews were pushed out of that land by the Romans, The Turks, and The Philistines.

So when the Jewish State of Israel came into effect, they were really just returning the land that was theirs thousands of years earlier.

I also find it hilarious that progressives are foaming at the mouth about political correctness.  Pot meet kettle.

Quote of the Day

"The reason mankind has to hope that the world, its leaders, its newspapers, its so-called human rights organizations and the United Nations are right about Israel is quite simple: If Israel is the decent party in its war with the Palestinian Authority and Hamas -- and nearly all the world's countries, nearly all the world's media and the United Nations are morally wrong -- what hope is there for humanity? If the world's moral compass is that broken, are we not sailing into a dark age?"

Actions Speak Louder than Words - Hamas Turns Away Aid From Flotilla

CNN.com is reporting that Hamas has turned away the aid that was delivered by flotilla earlier this week.  This truly speaks volumes.  Hamas is really not interested in helping the people of Gaza.  Hamas' true goal is the destruction of Israel; plain and simple.

Hamas is saying they are turning it down because Israel is not giving them everything.  There doesn't seem to be any reports to confirm or deny this charge, but even if Israel has not finished inspecting everything and was turning over what it did inspect how does that change the needs of the people living there?

I am sure they were people who were doing nothing more than trying to help people in need on those ships.  People who rightly believe that the people of Gaza are living in a hellhole and need humanitarian assistance.  The unemployment rate in Gaza is over 40% and the vast majority of people who live there are completely dependant upon aid that is given from different sources around the world.  It is a horrible way to live.

That being said, Hamas is one of the main reasons that they live that way.  One of the ways that organization such as Hamas and Hezbollah operate is to make the people feel that they are on their side.  They put bomb making factories in heavily populated areas to provoke Israel to destroy those buildings and then go to the people who are now homeless and continue to blame Israel for the their fates.  Look what those dirty Jews did to your home, you don't a job because the Zionists and their American benefactors.  Until this narrative changes, peace is not possible.

The Gaza citizens need to be freed alright, they need to be freed from the grips of Hamas who don't have the best interests of the people at heart.

World Jewish Congress Open Letter to President Obama

This letter will appear in both The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post today.  I don't think they are happy.

Dear President Obama:

I write today as a proud American and a proud Jew.

Jews around the world are concerned today. We are concerned about the nuclear ambitions of an Iranian regime that brags about its genocidal intentions against Israel. We are concerned that the Jewish state is being isolated and delegitimized.

Mr. President, we are concerned about the dramatic deterioration of diplomatic relations between the United States and Israel.

The Israeli housing bureaucracy made a poorly timed announcement and your Administration branded it an “insult.” This diplomatic faux pas was over the fourth stage of a seven stage planning permission process – a plan to build homes years from now in a Jewish area of Jerusalem that under any peace agreement would remain an integral part of Israel.

Our concern grows to alarm as we consider some disturbing questions. Why does the thrust of this Administration’s Middle East rhetoric seem to blame Israel for the lack of movement on peace talks? After all, it is the Palestinians, not Israel, who refuse to negotiate.

Israel has made unprecedented concessions. It has enacted the most far reaching West Bank settlement moratorium in Israeli history.

Israel has publicly declared support for a two-state solution. Conversely, many Palestinians continue their refusal to even acknowledge Israel’s right to exist.

The conflict’s root cause has always been the Palestinian refusal to accept Israel as the nation state of the Jewish people. Every American President who has tried to broker a peace agreement has collided with that Palestinian intransigence, sooner or later. Recall President Clinton’s anguish when his peace proposals were bluntly rejected by the Palestinians in 2000. Settlements were not the key issue then. They are not the key issue now.

Another important question is this: what is the Administration’s position on Israel’s borders in any final status agreement? Ambiguity on this matter has provoked a wave of rumors and anxiety. Can it be true that America is no longer committed to a final status agreement that provides defensible borders for Israel? Is a new course being charted that would leave Israel with the indefensible borders that invited invasion prior to 1967?

There are significant moves from the Palestinian side to use those indefensible borders as the basis for a future unilateral declaration of independence. How would the United States respond to such a reckless course of action?

And what are America’s strategic ambitions in the broader Middle East? The Administration’s desire to improve relations with the Muslim world is well known. But is friction with Israel part of this new strategy? Is it assumed worsening relations with Israel can improve relations with Muslims? History is clear on the matter: appeasement does not work. It can achieve the opposite of what is intended.

And what about the most dangerous player in the region? Shouldn’t the United States remain focused on the single biggest threat that confronts the world today? That threat is a nuclear armed Iran. Israel is not only America’s closest ally in the Middle East, it is the one most committed to this Administration’s declared aim of ensuring Iran does not get nuclear weapons.

Mr. President, we embrace your sincerity in your quest to seek a lasting peace. But we urge you to take into consideration the concerns expressed above. Our great country and the tiny State of Israel have long shared the core values of freedom and democracy. It is a bond much treasured by the Jewish people. In that spirit I submit, most respectfully, that it is time to end our public feud with Israel and to confront the real challenges that we face together.

Yours sincerely,

Ronald S. Lauder

Bibi Shamed - Is Israel Ready to Bomb Iran?

Bibi Netanyahu left Washington, DC earlier this week in shame according to world newspapers. It was been widely reported that trouble has been about the announcement of additional settlements in Jerusalem. Jerusalem has always been and will continue to be one of the most difficult issues when it comes to lasting peace with the Palestinians.

Apparently it had become so contentious that Bibi felt he needed to go back to the Israeli embassy to use the phone, as he was not comfortable and felt that he may be eavesdropped on. Of course, that has not been said publically, but it is a pretty serious charge if true.

The Israeli's have been very consistent about one thing, the willingness they show for peace talks revolves around how secure they feel at that particular moment. The Israeli's are not feeling very secure right now. Iran is getting closer and closer to nuclear weapons and the capacity to hit Israel. Why exactly would they feel secure at the moment?

Does anyone really believe that President Obama has publically dissed Israel over a few apartment buildings? Was the real reason that Netanyahu was in town was to tell the President they are ready to bomb Iran? It seems very unlikely to me that we would put Bibi in the position of worldwide embarrassment over some apartment buildings, especially when you consider the proof that the announcement for the building permits was simply bad timing, no ill will was intended. If it is indeed true that Israel is moving closer to taking real action with Iran, the very last thing we should be doing is put them in a position that they don't trust us.

Amin al-Hussenini

President Obama gave a speech on relations between the Muslim world and the west. While I didn’t watch the speech I did read the transcript and saw some clips on the news. As I expected, it was a good speech. The President is a very good orator, and no one can say he is not. It is one of his strengths. History on the other hand is not.

While I agree with part of what the President said, some of what he said is historically inaccurate. The problems between the Jews and the Muslims started long before the State of Israel. Before Israel even existed the Palestinians were working towards the demise of the Jews. This is an uncomfortable fact that all too often ignored. Be honest, did you learn this in school?

Yasser Arafat’s uncle, Amin al-Husseini, instigated the death and destruction of the Jewish people as early as 1920 and his name came up during the Nuremberg trials. Allegedly he visited the gas chambers in Auschwitz, and there are pictures of him with Hitler. To this day, he is celebrated as a hero. The anti-Semitism has existed long before 1948. If we do not make this part of the conversation, how are ever going to past it?

I think the President should take a history course of the Middle East and inspect the roots of the hatred towards Israel before he makes another such speech. Too many people around the world do not understand the core roots of the problems with that region and say the European guilt of the holocaust is the only reason for the State of Israel. The historical records just don’t back up these claims.
