I liked this. Most of the time this stuff is hokey, but something about it made me smile.

Quote of the Day - Diane von Furstenberg Spokesperson Edition
"We’re actually not quite sure how Ann obtained the dress”Ms. Furstenberg is a big fan of Obama, so it seems that Ann Romney wearing one of her designs at a recent campaign stop isn't happy news. I guess it never occurred to them that she went out and bought it and didn't expect some sort of discount because her husband is running for president.

Of Dog Whistles and Other Such Things
I have enjoyed the spin on the left about the convention this week. The outright falsehoods that are going on about the auto plant in Wisconsin has been quite amusing. The video and newspaper reports that prove that the plant was indeed still making cars when President Obama took the oath of office doesn't seem to deter them. I guess Romney's underwear is truly magic since the videos dated long before he choose Paul Ryan as his running mate.
The outright disgusting behavior that was shown towards Mia Love and Condi Rice was very sad, but even worse, it was expected. The cries of the female version of Uncle Tom was heard loud and clear. We get it, you don't like any person of color being conservative. They are not allowed to think for themselves. They must follow your vision, because after all, you are the party of tolerance.
The left got their pants all twisted by Ann Romney's line of 'I have a real marriage'. She wasn't talking about gay marriage. She was talking about the same thing that every other married couple knows to be true, marriage is work. The movies and the fairy tales don't tell you that when you are growing up. She had five children to raise with a husband who travels. She has dealt with real tragedy in her life. The loss of a child, numerous health problems in breast cancer and the knowledge that she will be dealing with MS for the rest of her life. She has come out the other side of those things with her marriage in tact. That is not an easy thing to do. The rates of divorce in our country prove that.
Chris Matthews schooled me this week on the words that I am not allowed to use. Chicago means racist. Golf means racist. All that secret code, oh my. Al Sharpton has decided that the fact that Romney has a proven and clear record of putting minorities and women in positions of power and authority is a negative. I am not even going to try and figure that out. In his world up is down and black is white. The only people who can legitimately put minorities is someone who shares his world view. If not, I guess they are just pandering. Some have gone as far to say that proves that they are racists. Paul Ryan's college girlfriend who happens to be black is also somehow proof that he really doesn't like black people. You figure it out, it just makes my head hurt.
But this has to be one of my favorites of the week.

But that line about how when America needs to accomplish something great, "you need an American"? Dog whistle to the birthers? Now, take a look at what he actually said:
Tonight that American flag is still there on the moon. And I don't doubt for a second that Neil Armstrong's spirit is still with us: that unique blend of optimism, humility and the utter confidence that when the world needs someone to do the really big stuff, you need an American. She is just pulling this crap out of thin air. He didn't say when America needs to accomplish something, he said when the world does. He was talking about American Exceptionalism. Something that Maria Cordona obviously cannot even begin to understand. The left doesn't see America in the same vision that I and others on the right do. They just don't. They don't view our place in the world as something special. We are just one of many to them. We should be more like Europe to them. Why they don't just pick up and move to Europe is something that I don't understand. You like it there so much, pack your bags. No one is stopping you. I will help you pack.

Ann Romney GOP Convention Speech - Video
This was the speech of her life. I thought she did wonderfully. My regular readers are well aware that I really like her much more than her husband. She comes across as very down to earth. Her #1 goal had to be to humanize her husband, I thought she nailed it. She has a grace about her. She will make a great first lady. This is a woman who has dedicated her life to charitable causes, her husband, and her family. While they may not be the choices that every woman would make, there is nothing wrong with those choices. They must have done something right, their sons have grown up to be productive, happy, and healthy adults.
MSNBC's spin was out there. That tells me that she did well. Scroll down to see what Juan Williams has to say. You will laugh and laugh.

Juan Williams Doesn't Believe that Ann Romney has had Struggles
Yeah, cuz living with MS and surviving breast cancer is easy. Taking care of five young children was a piece of cake. Money doesn't make your life easy. Money doesn't give you happiness. You may have more options then people without it, that is true, but everyone has problems. Everyone has struggles. Was Sunny Von Bulow happy? Gloria Vanderbuilt had a very stormy childhood because of her parents.

Cavuto Destroys MSNBC - Video
Apparently, Mr. Cavuto is also a suffer of MS. He didn't take to kindly to MSNBC's admitted socialist Lawrence O'Donnell's unwarranted and dishonest attack on Ann Romney using horse riding as a way to help deal with her MS.

The Los Angeles Times Beclowns Itself - Story on Ann Romney's Horse Riding Habits
You can't find the president's college records (when somehow they have been able to find every other major candidate's) but they did find out Ann Romney's Pricey, Private World of dressage.
Mrs. Romney believes that riding horses helps her with her MS. I think it is irrelevant if there is scientific evidence of that, because she believes it helps her. If she is feeling better emotionally it will help her physically.
The L.A. Times is correct in the title that horse riding is a very expensive sport/hobby. But they are not asking anyone else to pay for her to ride her horses. She is paying for this herself. How she spends her money is her business.
They then move onto a lawsuit that was filed over the sale of one of her horses that she was having difficulty riding. The horse was checked out by a vet before the sale and was given a clean bill of health. Shortly after the sale the new owner noticed some problems with the horse and felt that she was misled before the sale. The case was settled last September.
But the intrepid reporters found the story and decided to run a feature on it. No, there is no media bias. After all, The Los Angeles Times is the newspaper that has audio of Obama speaking at a dinner that reportedly contained a great deal of Israel bashing. After all, a candidate for president bashing one of America's closest ally's is far less important than Ann Romney's, who is running for nothing, sale of horse that developed health problems after receiving a clean bill of health from a vet.
The seem to help people realize that the Romney's have a great deal of money. Boy, that was a newsflash. Thank heavens they cleared that up for us.

Happy Mother's Day from the Romney Boys. Tribute To Mom Ann Romney
I am sure I will say this many times between now and November. I like Ann Romney much more than Mitt. She seems like a very nice, down to earth woman who loves her family and wants to try and help the country get back on track.

Ann Romney Speaks to NRA Convention - Video
They may as well use her. I think she is likable and genuine. Her husband I am still not thrilled with. But I do really like her.
If you are so inclined, here is Mitt's speech too.

More of Hilary Rosen's "Poorly Chosen" Words
I am raising children too. But most young American women HAVE to BOTH earn a living AND raise children. You know that don't u?I can't speak for Ann Romney, but I can speak for myself. No most do not. Many choose to work. It is now the expected thing to do. The fall back position as it were.
Let's take some examples. You for instance. You stayed home for a period of time. But your former partner always had a very good career. You could have stayed home the entire time and didn't. I know, I know, you were saving the world by going after kids illegally downloading Miley Cyrus.
Soledad O'Brien has I believe three or four children. Her husband is a very successful investment banker. I think he could swing the expenses on his own.
Meghan Kelly is married to an executive of an Internet Security company and retained two residences when they began dating. I have this feeling that he could afford for his wife to stay home.
Barack Obama weighed on working mom's of late. About how Michelle had to work. Yet he was making a measly $167K when he was a US Senator and she still went to work. I guess living on that salary for a family of four is really impossible. The taxes in Illinois must even higher than I thought.
Paula Zahn's ex-husband was quite wealthy. She worked when her children were small.
I know plenty of women who could stay at home, but choose not to. I had one tell me that they couldn't afford to go to Europe every year if she didn't work. She might also have to forgo the new Coach handbag she got every season too.
When you work and are paying for daycare, transportation costs, a wardrobe for your job, possibly dry cleaning costs, lunches, snacks, and all kinds of other expenses, you will find that often it costs just as much to work. How much are you really making after paying all these additional expenses?
You can live without 300 channels on cable. You can live without the really fancy smart phone. You can live without the extra bathroom that you get with a bigger home, You don't have to go on expensive vacations.
It is called prioritizing. It is called budgeting.
I don't deny that some women have no choice but to work outside of the home. But there are plenty of women who don't. They have bought into this narrative that in order to be fulfilled you must have two degrees and a fancy office. That staying home and being the caretaker to your children somehow makes you less than. You are somehow not being the proper role model to your children.
I can guarantee you, your kids can live without the really expensive sneakers and the trip to Europe in return for you showing up at every school play, every ball game, and being there when they get home from school.
Every child wants to feel that they are most important thing in the world to you.
Hilary, the sad part of what you have done over your career is that you have actually limited women's choices, instead of expand them. Those are the words that you should rightly feel were poorly chosen. The ones you hurled at Ann Romney were meant. You see, you stayed home for a brief period of time. Ann made a life being a mother. Something that someone like you just can't understand.

Quote of the Day - Ann Romney Edition
“I made a choice to stay home and raise five boys, believe me, it was hard work."Ann Romney in response to Hillary Rosen's comment she never worked a day in her life.

Ms. Rosen you stay at home with five growing boys for lets say two weeks. You will be on your knees begging to go back to "work". Twit

Quote of the Day - Hilary Rosen Edition
His wife has never actually worked a day in her life.Hilary Rosen, board member Center for American Progress and Obama Campaign Liaison.
Lets see, she raised five children. She has worked on the following charities:
Director of Best Friends; an inner city project designed to work with at risk children.
Ten Point Coalition, another charity that works with urban at risk children.
She received a lifetime achievement award from the Charity Operation Kids in Salt Lake City
She also sat on the board of United Way of America.
But no, she never worked a day in her life.
