Of Course President Obama is Disappointed by the World - He Doesn't See Reality

A biographer has told the world that he feels that President Obama is disappointed in the world.  Really?  Well my most obvious response is that many in the world are very disappointed in him as well.  But there is more to this.  He is disappointed in the world because he views with rose-colored glasses on how the world should be instead of what it actually is.

He truly believes that if we just make the minimum wage a little higher people will get lifted out poverty.  Although we have raised the minimum wage throughout the years and we still have poverty.  So the latest is a "living wage".  Which is just another myth that will never work on a national level.

If the government just gets involved we can make the world more "fair".  He doesn't seem to understand that life isn't fair, nor will it ever be.

If the rich just give more of their money, the poor will get more.  Again, this is just another myth.  President Obama is a perfect example of that.  He has made less money in 2013 than he did in 2014, I didn't get more because he has less.  Nor has anyone else.

He never seems to understand that many of the people who are stuck in cycles of poverty are so because they make bad choices.  Now, I have this crappy part-time job.  Many of the people I work with are on some type of public assistance.  Yet they have smart phones.  I don't have a smart phone.  I can't spend over a hundred month on the bill.  I don't live in the projects because I spend my money differently than they do.  I make different choices.  I am not trying to disparage the poor, but studies have shown over and over again that they very successful people makes choices in their lives that allow them to become that way, while the poor make very different choices that also allow them to stay in their circumstances.  It may not be the way it should work, but it how it works.  This is reality.  You want to change the cycle of poverty, teach them how to make better choices.  Giving them enough money to survive does nothing except allow that cycle to continue.

Obama thinks if the U.S. is just nicer the problem of radical Islam will magically disappear.  No it won't Mr. President.  These are people who are true believers in the ideology.  Most of them are willing, no eager, to die for what they believe in.  They look at becoming a martyr as the very best thing that Allah has to offer.  Until that is marginalized within the Islamic community it won't change.  You cannot "Co-exist" with someone who wants you dead.  This is reality.

President Obama doesn't seem to think that real evil exists in the world.  Putin may not be evil, but he certainly does believe that Mother Russia should rise again.  He and buddies on the left scoffed at Gov. Romney when this came up at the debate.  The running joke was the 80's wants their foreign policy back.  It was Romney who saw the reality and those on the left that see the world as they think it should be instead of how it is.

Yes the world disappoints President Obama.  Maybe, just maybe, if he stopped seeing those rosy hues, he can begin to understand that life isn't fair.  Evil does exist and those evils have to be confronted with strong leadership, not the moving red lines that those in Syria are laughing about all the while killing their own people completely unabated.

Just Another Day in Progressive La La Land

As most of you are aware, I live in very progressive area of Virginia. Sometimes it is all I can do to keep myself from screaming. This is one of those times. As you may have read, I have befriended a young woman who finds herself in the horrible situation of being homeless. I have been trying to do my best to help her. Well, her blog has become somewhat of a sensation with my progressive neighbors. Mind you, they have done next to nothing to help her, but they like reading about her plight.

Today, I was outside in my yard. For some reason I thought I would get fresh air out there. But I quickly realized that no fresh air was to be had. One of my neighbors decided to stop over and talk to me about my new friend. She really didn't want to talk so much as to lecture me. I was told what a great disservice I am doing this "poor little waif" by not encouraging her to get help from the people who can really help her; the government.

So the air just become more dense as this conversation continued. Now, I have some health issues that I am dealing with so there is no room at the inn. I wish that there were, but I cannot have her move in with me at this moment in time. Issues that I might add that the progressive next door is well aware of. So she was telling me that I needed to get on her the list for housing by the government. Ok, that list dates back to 2006 (must be Bush's fault) and they are no longer adding names. Then we moved onto food stamps. Ok, you cannot get food stamps if you dont' have an address. Her using a false address is a felony. Since she is not an illegal alien she would actually be punished if she got caught. OK, Next? There was no next really, except for an additional lecture on my lack of real compassion. After all, I am conservative. What could I possibly know about compassion or really helping someone? I need to leave it to the progressive experts.

Now, let's see I helped her get a job, albeit a temporary one, but a job nonetheless, that not only gives her some money to keep gas in her car and the ability to buy food it also gives her a sense of accomplishment everyday. She also has learned something about herself watching after these kids. She realizes how much she really loves being around children. This is a new experience for her. One that will make the transition into motherhood a little easier.

Now, what exactly has my neighbor done? Oh, that would be nothing. She has a good-sized home and her children are older. After all the girl is out tramping around nightly(she has done things in my pool, that I have not even done), so they have room in their house. (Ok, maybe the tramp remark was a little much, but if the shoe fits..........). She has not offered to help find her job, she has not offered to give her a place to stay on a temporary basis, she has not (as far as I know) hit the tip jar on her blog. Yet, I am doing the girl a disservice. I am trying to provide a safety net for her until she can get back onto her feet. A safety net that her precious government was unable to provide. She applied for help and was rejected at every turn. I guess the rich have not paid enough in taxes to cover the "little waif". Hey, you high income earners (which by the way she is one), get out your wallets.......the safety net isn't quite as safe as she thought. You need to pay more. Taxes, we need more taxes. Like I said, no fresh air to be found.

Oh, it was really hazy, hot and humid today too.

Just How Progressive is Northern Virginia?

I saw this at Tyson’s Mall tonight.  For those that don’t live in Northern Virginia, Tyson’s Mall is what Sarah Palin would call Hoity Toity.

My real question is why they do this.  Doesn't make more sense that the hybrids do more driving to cut down on emissions?  They should put all the gas guzzlers right next to the stairs and make the greenies walk.  That would cut down on more emissions wouldn't it?

Conservative Principles Vs. Progressive Principles

I came across a lovely post about the differences between the worldview of government based on conservative principles vs. progressive principles:

#1 Social Justice

A primary goal of progressive policies is to guarantee social justice, which can be generally defined as treating everyone equally well, and correcting “the system” to ensure that equality. Basically, an individual is not responsible for his/her relative position economically, and to assert as much is to “blame the victim.” As such, the function of social justice is to blame the system and those who control it (source).

Examples: Abiding by this principle, progressives work to eliminate concentrations of wealth and power in society, and believe that government should regulate economic activity to promote the common good. This is demonstrated in policy by a wealth redistribution plan that takes a larger percent of taxes from wealthy individuals, and spreads the wealth to lower income citizens through a variety of welfare programs. Social justice is also a factor in progressive policies that encourage open borders and illegal immigration (since, for example, Mexicans can't control where they're born) as well as support for things like slavery reparations.

The Conservative View: Conservatives, in contrast, are not big believers in social justice. We believe that principles like equal opportunity and individual responsibility are sufficient to level the economic and social playing fields. These principles conflict with the concept of social justice because they don’t assume problems are systemic, and they don’t presume that government can guarantee equality.

The Moral Equivalency of the Progressive Left

I stayed up way too late last night watching the live stream from the Wisconsin state house after the union vote. So I am tired and a tad cranky today from a lack of sleep. But, I was transfixed to the stream. The union members completely lost their minds and the moral equivalency that was being used was quite amusing while being sad all at the same time.

There was a young woman who worked as a stage hand. She is obviously a union member. What I found so interesting about her was the fact that she said it looked like she was going to have to work seven days now. At first I thought she was thinking that she somehow was going to forced to work seven days a week. I was thinking what a brainwashed dingbat. Then I realized what she meant is that today was her day off and she was called in by her union to show up at the Capitol building to protest. The law has nothing to do with her or her job. Nothing will change for her. This law was about government unions, not about stage hands.

Doesn't this just prove what conservatives are saying about unions? The power that unions have is acute in this country that the average taxpayer is not on an even playing field. What is going on in Wisconsin has very little to do with the teachers. This is about the unions realizing that the political power they hold over the democratic party is beginning to be marginalized, and that is being viewed as a mortal threat to them. A local radio station in Milwaukee got a hold of a copy of an email sent to the law makers in Wisconsin:

WE want to make this perfectly clear. Because of your actions today and in the past couple of weeks I and the group of people that are working with me have decided that we’ve had enough. We feel that you and the people that support the dictator have to die. We have tried many other ways of dealing with your corruption but you have taken things too far and we will not stand for it any longer. So, this is how it’s going to happen: I as well as many others know where you and your family live, it’s a matter of public records.

We have all planned to assult you by arriving at your house and putting a nice little bullet in your head. However, we decided that we wouldn’t leave it there. We also have decided that this may not be enough to send the message to you since you are so “high” on Koch and have decided that you are now going to single handedly make this a dictatorship instead of a demorcratic process

It goes on to talk about bombs being set to go off in different areas of the city to target not just the law makers but the families of the law makers as well. The sender of this email also doesn't seem to care about going to jail because they are going to martyr themselves for the 300,000 people who will no longer be able to survive due to this passage of this law:

The teachers paychecks will go down, but only due to paying more for benefits. Their pay scale remains unchanged and they are still going to be paying less than the average person pays for their benefits package and this is a benefits package that is also much better than the average person receives. These changes are something that they already agreed to. Again this is about power. If the state allows teachers to decide for themselves if they want to join the union and pay more than $1,000 per year in dues the unions could easily not allow the union to stuff the coffers of the politicians. Unions give more than 98% of the donations to the democratic party.

Better and more effective classrooms and student achievement is too high of a price to pay to give up collective bargaining rights? This is what this about. It isn't about the kids, it isn't about the pay scale, it is about power.

I also was following along on twitter last night.

RT @shoq: DEAR AMERICAN PROGRESSIVES: #WI was your 9/11

Yes, you are reading that correctly. The vote last night is the equivalent to 9/11 to the progressive left.

Do conservatives really need to say more? The veil is being lifted and the true picture is not pretty.

Cross posted at Potluck
If you and your goonies feel that it’s necessary to strip the rights of 300,000 people and ruin their lives, making them unable to feed, clothe, and provide the necessities to their families and themselves then We Will “get rid of” (in which I mean kill) you

Creeping Progressivism and the Catholic Church

I came across an article today regarding the shrinking numbers of attendees to Catholic Churches in Europe today. Not only are they losing parishioners, they are in dangerously short supply of priests as well. Within the next decade the numbers will become an alarming shortage in Germany and Switzerland among others.

In order to nip this problem in the bud some theologians have gotten together and created an open declaration to phase out the celibacy rules for priests. I am not Catholic so to me this isn't a big deal. My pastor is married with children and I don't feel that has affected his job performance in any way. Actually, I think his family adds a great deal to our church community. But, I can't speak for other Catholics and the views that they will hold on this issue. Although, there is no biblical reasoning for this. It seems that even the Pope at one time agreed with this sentiment, so maybe this could happen down the road.

The issue is that they are not stopping at allowing priests to marry. They additionally would like to see the Catholic Church ordain women. Again, not really a big deal to me, I have never had a woman as a head of my church, but I don't think it would hurt anything. They further this by wanting the church to recognize divorce and allow same-sex marriage. I would think that devout Catholics need to stand firmly against this.

Some good news/bad news is that the Catholic Church does have numbers that are growing. The areas of the world where the numbers are going are mainly in South American Countries. The bad news part of this is the fact that many of those churches have been taken over by the "Social Justice" side of the Catholic Church. Churches that preach Social Justice pervert the Gospels. It is that plain and that simple. No where in the bible does it say that you are required to give to the state to help the poor. While there is plenty about helping the less fortunate and tithing, but it is to be done by the individual, not by the state. The roots of social justice Catholicism is communist based.

+Social Justice Prayer+

Almighty and eternal God, may your grace enkindle in all of us a love for the many unfortunate people whom poverty and misery reduce to a condition of life unworthy of human beings.

Arouse in the hearts of those who call you Father a hunger and thirst for social justice and for fraternal charity in deeds and in truth.

Grant, O Lord, peace to souls, peace to families, peace

The Four Main Aspects of Social Justice

1.SOLIDARITY

Living as though other people and living things matter. Examples of this would be:

FASTING in solidarity with the hungry, the oppressed etc

LIVING SIMPLY. Do I really need all those gadgets coming out in the stores? Recycling where you can; being a good steward of all our natural resources and of our planet that God has given us.

PRAYING for the poor, the homeless, for an end to sweatshops, etc.

2.EDUCATION

We are obligated to educate ourselves and others about social justice. Read all you can about the subject. Study all you can about all the social issues facing us in the world today. Spread the word about these issues. Examples :Global Warming, the natural disasters, sweatshops, the death penalty, opressed and persecuted Christians in the Sudan etc. ...............everthing!

3.COMMUNITY ORGANIZING

Get involved in the community! Join or start a food pantry. Start a neighborhood watch program if one is needed. Start or join a group in your parish that studies the issues of the community/world and decides what can be done about the problems facing us. Start a volunteer voter registration group. Organize the community in consolidating the efforts of giving its help to the poor. Join Habitat for Humanity etc. etc. ...Just do it!

4.ADVOCACY

This is giving a voice to those who have no voice, that is, the poor, the sick, the shut in, the unborn, the dying, the disadvantaged, the immigrants, those imprisoned, the homeless, racial minorities etc. We are called to speak out! Write a letter to the editor, join a march, call your elected officials and let them know how you feel. Very often legislation gets passed to the disadvantage of many, because the elected official simply didn't know how people feel about the subject. This is because no one bothered to call!

to our country and peace among nations. Amen

These people have characterized Jesus as a "Liberal Jew" and I have even seen Him called him a communist. No where in the scriptures will you find justification for either of these statements. Jesus very clearly defined the separation of church and state.

“Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s
Matthew 22:21

Again, I am not a Catholic and I have no dog in this fight, but if I were a Catholic I would be standing firmly against it this. This is nothing more than creeping progressivism. This is an attempt to turn the church into yet another feel good no real responsibility for your choices kinda place. Sort of like your local pub; you just show up where everyone knows your name and you'll meet someone named Norm. Accepting Christ into your life is not meant to be easy. Living your life in the image of Him gives your life an anchor and direction. It forces you to take a good hard look at yourself and to take responsibility for your own actions. By making it that you are responsible for someone else's salvation it then in turn makes them responsible for yours as well. Which means you can then justify cheating here and there and say to yourself 'well my neighbor will do the heavy lifting' and then allowing yourself to live however you choose. Once that starts to happen you have lost your moral compass.

Much of the problems with declining numbers in the Church seem to coincide with the revelations of sexual abuse of minors within the ranks of the church. While it is perfectly understandable that people may feel wary of the hypocrisy that the church had shown by not taking care of the problems swiftly and severely. This doesn't mean that you completely change the entire institution. If we start dumbing down the Church what is really left? Where does the faithful go?

Warning Labels and The Constitution

This book is a product of it's time and does not represent the same values as if it were written today. Parents might wish to discuss with their children how views on race, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, and interpersonal relations have changed since this book was written before allowing them to read this classic work.
