Keith Olbermann and Current TV Parting Ways - Olbermann Fired Again

Apparently, this isn't going to be a nice break-up.  The Gorical doesn't think he should have to pay out the balance of his contract worth about an additional $40 million.  Eliot Spitzer will be taking Olbie's time slot starting tonight at 8 pm.  

We created Current to give voice to those Americans who refuse to rely on corporate-controlled media and are seeking an authentic progressive outlet.  We are more committed to those goals today than ever before.

Current was also founded on the values of respect, openness, collegiality, and loyalty to our viewers. Unfortunately these values are no longer reflected in our relationship with Keith Olbermann and we have ended it.

We are moving ahead by honoring Current’s values. Current has a fundamental obligation to deliver news programming with a progressive perspective that our viewers can count on being available daily — especially now, during the presidential election campaign. Current exists because our audience desires the kind of perspective, insight and commentary that is not easily found elsewhere in this time of big media consolidation.

As we move toward this summer’s political conventions and the general election in the fall, Current is making significant new additions to our broadcasts.  We have just debuted six hours of new programming each weekday with Bill Press (“Full Court Press, at 6 am ET/3 am PT) and Stephanie Miller (“Talking Liberally,” at 9 am ET/6 pm PT).

We’re very excited to announce that beginning tonight, former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer will host “Viewpoint with Eliot Spitzer,” at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT.  Eliot is a veteran public servant and an astute observer of the issues of the day. He has important opinions and insights and he relishes the kind of constructive discourse that our viewers will appreciate this election year.  We are confident that our viewers will be able to count on Governor Spitzer to deliver critical information on a daily basis.

All of these additions to Current’s lineup are aimed at achieving one simple goal — thegoal that has always been central to Current’s mission:  To tell stories no one else will tell, to speak truth to power, and to influence the conversation of democracy on behalf of those whose voice is too seldom heard.  We, and everyone at Current, want to thank our viewers for their continued steadfast support.

Olbermann and MSNBC Say Farewell

Keith Olbermann aired his final show on MSNBC tonight.  Apparently a deal of some sort was made earlier this week.  Olbermann will paid out for his contract for the next two years and will be unable to appear on television until that contract comes to an end. 

If you want a good laugh, go read the comments on HuffPo.  Apparently the world is coming to an end. 

Some have decided that boycotting Comcast is the way to go.  Others are unsure if Olbie's replacement, Lawrence O'Donnell is sufficiently liberal enough.  After all he said he wasn't a liberal, he's a socialist. 

Rumor is that he was indeed fired because he didn't play well with others.  Shocker!!!  I mean really, who would think that a man that arrogant would be difficult to get along with.  I never saw that coming. 

Apparently, the meme that Comcast likes republicans isn't going to work to well:

Political Contributions.  So, it isn't that Comcast likes the GOP, they just aren't that into poor ol' Olbie. 

After the Vitriol, After the Hate

Two full days have almost passed since the shootings in Tucson.  Over the weekend we saw the ugliest side of left possible.  You can go over to Michelle Malkin to see some of the lefty hate over the years.  The vast majority making Sarah Palin's map look like child's play in comparison.  The right has reacted by pointing out all of the hate that comes from left.

Some have called to hit back on the left and to hit back hard. A few other voices have said that may not be the best way to handle this. I will have to go with the minority. My reasons for that are really quite simple. The truth is that majority of the country doesn't pay attention to this kind of thing. The hate machine is big fat turn off and people just tune it out.


Matter of fact they turn it off to the point that they become disgusted with both the right and left. The vitriol has gotten so bad with this shooting any rational person will come to the proper conclusion; the far left is crazy and will do anything to put people on the right down, and the media is all too willing accomplice. This can only help the right as long as they don't go as far. The very last thing we should be doing is making a bad situation worse. Let the left stew in their own juices and pay the price for the disgusting display they have put on for the past two days. The truth about the gunman is out, he is a crazy lunatic that was in no way motivated by politics, be it right or left. By most estimates it seems that he is a schizophrenic.  And, as a wise man has said, crazy isn't an ideology.

Personally, I would rather spend my time and energies talking about the heroism that was on display on Saturday, people running towards the gunman to stop further carnage. A husband who jumped on his wife in order to save her from the bullets, who sadly gave his own in order to save hers. Let’s think about the father who is in mourning over the loss of his 9 year old daughter and still asking that we don’t walk away from the openness that our government provides. I would like to think that Americans can and will overcome the craziness and horror of Saturday, and that we can do it without showing the hate that the likes of Krugman, The Daily Kos, Jane Fonda, and Keith Olbermann can't seem to resist. They have shown their true colors, we don't need to add anything. They have done a good job all on their own

NBC News Says that Olbermann is a Impartial Journalist? Olbermann Suspended

NBC News has suspended Keith Olbermann without pay for giving political donations to democrats during this last election cycle.  There has been some controversy going on around the blogosphere about his hypocrisy for blasting Fox News for giving money to the Republican Governors Association. 

OK, below is the NBC News policy on political contributions: 

Anyone working for NBC News who takes part in civic or other outside activities may find that these activities jeopardize his or her standing as an impartial journalist because they may create the appearance of a conflict of interest.  Such activities may include participation in or contributions to political campaigns or groups that espouse controversial positions. You should report any such potential conflicts in advance to, and obtain prior approval of, the President of NBC News or his designee.

In what universe would Olbermann be considered an impartial journalist?  He in no way hides his far left views.  This is like being surprised that Hannity  or Rush voted for republicans on Tuesday.  It makes no sense. 

What I find more disturbing is the fact that NBC is putting him in a category as a journalist.  He is nothing more than liberal hack that spits out far left views on his show that is not exactly a ratings blockbuster. This is a man who was heard laughing in the background during an "interview" that Chris Matthews was performing with Congresswoman Bachmann on election night.  He isn't a journalist and NBC News trotting out this policy as a statement to justify it's suspension has to make one think what type of organization are they running if they call this man a journalist.  It is just further proof that the News needs to be removed from NBC News.   The people of this country should be very afraid if Olbermann is now what we are calling impartial journalists in this country.  This is not something to celebrate, no matter what you may think of Olbermann and his views. 

Keith Olbermann's Continued Delusion - His View of a "Tea Party" World

I would love to hear how this horrible incident can be considered a tea party world.  But, those pesky little things like facts don't stop him.  In a Tea Party World your taxes would cover this as this is a constitutional responsibility of government.  Also, this area seems to be an area that is governed by democrats.  The congressman is John Tanner who was elected in 1988, so how this is view of what the tea party wants doesn't make any sense whatsoever.  But, then this since when did that stop Olbermann? 

What happened to this poor man is exactly what the tea party is fighting against.  If the tax dollars were used correctly we wouldn't be having these types of issues.  Keeping this man's home from burning to the ground is exactly what we pay taxes for. 

Keith Olbermann, The Lunatic Left, & The CIA

Keith Olbermann has really hit an all-time low.  He has said that the CIA purposely did not follow up on the undies bomber to make President Obama look bad.  So, this lunatic believes that the professionals who risk thier lives to protect the American public would allow 300 innocent people to die, give al-Qaeda huge visibility and the jihadists additional recruiting tools just to make Obama look bad.  There is no way that they would have known that the bomb detonator would fail.  Or, does this guy think that they made sure that the bomb wouldn't go off before helping him onto the plane? 

He is either saying that they were willing to let 300 people die or that they helped him while making sure the bomb wouldn't go off.  Those would be the only two logical choices. 

This man is a lunatic.  There is no other way to describe this type of thought process.  Let's just say for the sake of arguement that the CIA did want to make President Obama look bad, there is no other way to do this?  Does he really think that they don't speak to the press as an anoymous source?  They could easily leak something that would be embarassing to the administration.  I am sure that Leon Penatta has given them plenty of ammo, since he has no experience whatsoever in the intelligence field. 

The people who work at the CIA do the jobs that they do for a lower salary then they would make in the private sector, live a life that is full of secrecy, and gets little to no glory.  We should be heralding the people who are willing to do this for a living, not accusing of them of attempted murder.
