So says Glenn Beck. It is no secret that Beck doesn't like Newt; no, it is more like he can't stand him. That is fine, he has the right to his opinion. Beck doesn't think that there is a big difference between Newt and President Obama. He feels that they are so much alike that if a tea party member supports Newt it must mean that they don't like Obama due to racism.
“If you have a big government progressive, or a big government progressive in Obama… ask yourself this, Tea Party: is it about Obama’s race? Because that’s what it appears to be to me. If you’re against him but you’re for this guy, it must be about race. I mean, what else is it? It’s the policies that matter.”
The stretch in logic that one must make to come to this conclusion must mean that Beck is a contortionist. Look Newt has issues. He has done many things that upset social conservatives, he has upset the republican establishment (not to say to that is bad thing), he has upset moderates, and he certainly has upset the left (again, not a bad thing).
But, to think that Newt would have done the things that Obama has done over the past three years is simply ludicrous. Would we have Obamacare? Would we have had almost a trillion dollar in stimulus that really only stimulated friends of the far left? Would he have signed Dodd/Frank? I don't think any of these things would have happened.
Does he really want me to believe that Newt's supporters are racist? Newt also has done some very good things in his career. He led the first republican comeback of the House of Representatives in four decades. When others said it couldn't be done, he did it anyway. Many of the things that are traditionally credited to President Clinton; such as welfare reform and a balanced federal budget, were done under his watch.
So let me ask you a question Mr. Beck, why should I believe that you are a conservative when you pulling the race card from the bottom of the deck? How is what you just said any different than what the left does anytime you criticize President Obama?
This is not the first time that Beck has played the race card. Let's hope it is his last.
Glenn Beck is all up in arms that the House Ethics Committee has barred some members of congress from going to his rally in Israel later this month.
On the air, Beck said he‘d heard it was Boehner’s office that was not approving members of Congress to attend the event, with 35 representatives at one point planning to attend before being told they’d been rejected by the House and would have to self-fund the trip if they wanted to go.
Beck wondered whether the congressmen were barred because “it is me as someone who holds the Republicans’ feet to the fire” or as retribution for voting against the debt ceiling deal.
I am unable to find a list of the 35 that wanted to attend so I don’t know if any of them voted for the debt ceiling or not. But, what I do know is that if it was indeed Speaker Boehner who stopped this trip, I want to shake his hand.
It is about frickin’ time that someone stand up to these congressman (and ladies too) and say hell no, if you want to jet all over the world you have to pay for it yourself. You see they are not being barred from attending, they are being barred by taking an all expensive paid trip to Israel. The charity that was planning on footing the bill is indeed a 501 (c)3. But what Beck doesn’t fully explain is that they don’t get called lobbyists when they are legally allowed to “educate” people on their particular issue. Whatever that issue may happen to be. For instance, they can hold seminars on the say global warming (a topic that Beck has spoken out against time and again), and give out all kinds of literature on that topic. That literature legally will be allowed to contain which legislation affects their topic. As long as they don’t tell someone directly to contact an elected official or try to contact that official themselves directly on that topic, they are in compliance with the law will be allowed to keep their non-profit tax exempt status. But they can take them on little junkets to the other side of the world and that is perfectly fine. That doesn’t sound a tad like lobbying to you?
I have seen quite a few conservatives all up in arms and calling Boehner a traitor. Seriously? They are legally allowed to indirectly lobby and by paying for this trip to Israel that is exactly what they were trying to do. The trip would have been so short that they wouldn’t have had time to have any meetings with Israeli officials. Basically they would have gotten off the plane, gone to Beck’s rally spent the night in I would presume a pretty expensive hotel room and got back on a plane the next day and flown home. Conservatives have a problem that Boehner put his foot down and said no?
Speaker Boehner let me be the first to shake your hand. They make $174K per year. They can afford a ticket to Israel. We need to take away as many people trying to influence the government as possible. This is why government officials don’t want to leave their jobs. These are exactly the type of perks that average Joe’s don’t get and make being a professional politician so lucrative. Enough already.
Get a grip Beck. This is exactly the type of thing you would be all over if the democrats did it. Is this hypocrisy on your part Glenn or just plain arrogance?
Rumors were flying that Beck would be leaving by Fox. Many of the rumors were that he was being fired due to his poor viewership. While his viewership has decreased over the years it still was very strong. It is obvious he is not being fired as if that were the case he would already be off the air nor would he continue to be doing specials on the channel or adding content to the website. So, I think we can put that rumor to bed. Although I am sure those on the far left are still looking at this as some kind of victory.
There are many on the right who are not thrilled with Beck. One good example is Les who added this post on Left Coast Rebel. He feels that Beck walked away from conservative principles for the almighty buck. I don't disagree that Beck is enjoying the money he is making, but I also don't have a problem with someone using their skills to go out and make a good living. More power to ya, Beck.
I don't think it comes as any shock that I am fan of Beck. Look at the web address of this blog, that will tell you all you need to know. I know that I wouldn't be as involved had it not been for Beck, and I know many others who feel the same way. I know several people who will be running for office in the next two years and to a small extent Beck's influence has been a part of it.
Now, I don't watch his show everyday and I don't always agree with what he is saying. I have also have been upset by a couple of quotes that he used without giving full context to what they meant. He tells his viewers to do their own research, and I did. He left some important information about some of his Soros quotes. It certainly doesn't change my view of Soros, who I do believe has bad intentions for this country. But, that is a post for another time.
My personal opinion on what Beck is planning is that he wants to be completely independent and start up his own network. But, that isn't an easy venture to undertake. That takes millions upon millions of dollars and some backers. That is what I believe is going to be working on. He has his own website that gets a good amount of traffic I am sure, he has his radio show which is number three in the country. He is only behind Rush and Hannity.
Television news contracts have clauses in them about many different things, and I am sure that Beck just can't go and start something that will be a direct competitor to Fox right away. He needs to transition away from Fox News slowly to allow him the freedom to start up his next venture.
Here is an interview he gave with Fox Business Network earlier today. I do believe that Beck not only believes in what he is saying, he believes that it is his responsibility to say it. Good Luck, Mr. Beck.
The Huffington Post doesn't seem like they were all that impressed with the Beck Rally over the weekend. They put up a slide show of photos that show how ridiculous the attendees were.
So, I decided to go back to the day after Bush won re-election. San Fransico Circa 2004
My personal favorite!!
I don't know about you, but I will take the Beck rally every time!!!
Ms. King asked Beck to pray with her. I was very happy to hear that her and her cousin Martin were on the same plane back to Atlanta and sat with each other and spoke. I am glad to hear her choices are not affecting her family life, since Martin spoke at the rally with Sharpton.
Apparently Sarah Prayed on her own before the rally for about 30 minutes
Here is one of the reasons that it will be impossible to get an accurate count, we were packed this densely under the trees as well. I was sitting before this picture on the right.
I had wondered why Beck looked much thinner, he was wearing a bullet proof vest that day at the request of his wife. He normally has a belly sticking out.
This was during my favorite part of the day. The playing of Amazing Grace on the bag pipes
I couldn't see the screen from where I was sitting, so I am seeing this for the first time.
At least Howie Kurtz (who I actually have respect for, he normally will point out the hypocrisy of the left)stood up to this small-minded and stupid man. The reality is the left doesn't know what do with a mobilized right. The attacks are going to get bigger and come more often because we have become a mobilized force. I have a friend who was appearing on Fox News while Beck was in the studio. That man travels surrounded by security, why exactly is that? If he is the "terrorist" why would he need the security. Look at the tape of the rally on Saturday. Every time he moved around the stage, at least two different men in black suits moved with him. I don't think anyone on the right is threatening his life.
In the past you could always get the right to show up for a pro life rally and you had a good shot at getting a good number for gun rights. But, not for a whole lot else. We just didn't show up in the streets with signs. Beck is part of that change. Although, he is not the "founder" of the tea party movement. Many on the left don't realize it was Rick Santelli of CNBC that started that. Beck just saw the "tea" leaves and found a way to take that energy that was forming. All he did was tell us we were not alone, we did the rest.
I have been very sick since Wednesday morning, to the point that I was very worried that I wouldn't be able to attend the Beck rally yesterday. But, I "rallied" and made my way down to The District. I am ever so glad that I did. One of the reasons, besides having the experience for myself, was that I am able to have an opinion on the aftermath of the reactions.
Some have gone as far as saying Beck/Palin (Or maybe Palin/Beck) for 2012. Please, Beck has no shot at getting elected to public office. I certainly wouldn't vote for him. I think anyone who reads my blog knows that I adore him, but not as president. His TV show is awesome, so keep it up.
I, like many bloggers, keep any eye on how visitors make their way to my blog. One such way was:
GLENN BECK RALLY FREE BUSING AND BR...
the finish of the sentence is bribes. Seriously? Someone thinks that people needed to be bribed to go and see him? I recently read a post on another blog on a cruise that you can go on with Louis Farrakhan. While I admit I was left almost speechless while reading, it never occurred to me that people would need to bribed to go. We have people in our country that agree with him. Why?, I cannot tell you, but they do agree.
There is traffic on the lefty blogs about the busing be free. Again, seriously? That was an easy one to fact check. Beck had the available buses on his website for weeks. The costs were clearly marked. The entire rally cost me about $45. The only reason it cost that much was because I parked in a metered spot and got a ticket. I didn't realize that parking wasn't free on Saturday's. They changed that in some areas to close budget gaps in DC a few years back. Oh, well, I did the crime, I will pay the fine. It still ends being cheaper than had I parked in the Ronald Reagan Building as I usually do when I go downtown. But, I live locally so ain't no thing for me. But, I met someone yesterday that drove for seven days. Do they think that someone gave him a gas card and hotel fees?
I also read the write up in The Washington Post today. The factual errors were glaring and very easy for them to fix. One being that they were not sure if the $5.5 million raised for charity was before or after the costs. Now, I would have to go back and listen to that part of the speech again, but I am pretty sure he cleared that up. If not, he most definitely did on his show earlier in the week. The costs had long since been covered. That was the donation amount. A stunning amount of money that is being mostly over looked by the media.
Another real big deal was why the people were there. Even right bloggers were asking the same question. My facebook friend Les and fellow blogger kinda thought it was too political. I made a comment that I didn't agree on the blog and we continued that conversation on facebook chat. The conclusion we came to is that Beck is no Reagan; but then, who is?
Were there people in that audience that was there for political reasons? Yes. You cannot deny that when you saw all the Gladsen flags. But, that was not the tenure of the rally itself. The only speaker that I thought put her foot right on the line was Sarah Palin. Even that was with one line of her speech. She was there to say thanks to wounded warriors and to a gold star mom. She is a military mom, she has to worry that her baby boy could get put into a situation that could get him injured or killed. That is a lot of stress for any mom. That makes her a person that can make those introductions AND it is well known that she is a woman of faith. Beck and Sarah seem to have a good working relationship and I am sure that it was beneficial to both of them to be there; regardless of what their own personal reasons may have been.
Another thing that is not really getting much press is the FACT that people walked through our crowd with the intention of provoking us. What exactly they thought we would do them is really beyond me. But, a couple walked through the crowd wearing Obama shirts. Now, I had to use the bathroom at one point during the height of the program and tried to make my way through the crowd to the ladies room. It was quite the adventure, after my little sidetrack with the reporter on the racism charge, I actually ended up using a porta potty in the middle of a field (Don't ask, I can't give you a logical reason of why they were there) about five blocks away. So, you cannot tell me that these people were not doing this to provoke. I was sitting relatively close to the stage and it was very densely packed with people. They also somehow found their way to a reporter and told them that they expected a different reaction? What reaction would that have been? An unruly mob that came to beat you up? It was no different than the man who was carrying this really large sign about how evil religion is and walking through the crowd. Again, provacation and nothing more. I could be wrong, but I don't think any of us went over to Sharpton's to do the same thing. I know that I have neither the time nor the inclination to go a rally for a belief that I am opposed to.
Now there were PETA people there dressed up in a vegatble costumes with signs saying TEA BAGGERS EAT ME. I don't get the connection, but they were in an open space and left the rest of us alone. So, while I don't get it, I don't have a problem with what they did, but the T shirt and sign people, get a life.
Another controversy apparently is that some lunatic thought it was awful that we cleaned up after ourselves. We should have left the garbage so the poor park employee could go and clean it up. Apparently we didn't think of the overtime someone could have made had we left it a mess. OMG!! What kind of twisted thinking is that?
We just put the garbage in bags, someone still has to go and collect them.
The Feds are BROKE. They can't afford any overtime.
I also have this feeling that would be something that is outsourced.
Sadly, some of what that rally was about is just plain overlooked by the media; Personal responsibility. Beck asked the people to look at themselves, make their lives more honest, and then demand it from our governmental officials. Who can argue with that? Does it really matter if you are on the right or left? Shouldn't we all want our government to be honest and transparent? Can't we at least agree on that? If not, we may have no chance to repair the damage. And damage we have.
I know why I was there. I LOVE Beck. I LOVE Sarah Palin. I admire Alveida King. I wanted to send a message. I am a person of faith. I enjoyed the thought that a high number would piss off Obie and Matthews. I was certain it would be a good time. And I was right, it was. But, the most important reason I was there, I will always stand up for our troops. Another thing that most people in this country should be able to agree upon.
I have this feeling I will be writing more on the reaction to Beck's interview today. I can already see some heads exploding about what he said, especially when it is taken out of context. Maybe I will be wrong, but I have this feeling it will be.
I just got home from the Beck rally, and I am exhausted. But, it was a great family day. Since I live locally this is easy for me. I scoped out the street closings beforehand, got up early and drove straight into the District and parked within a few minutes walk of the Lincoln Memorial.
The one bad part was that many people were left off at a Metro Station in Virginia and they couldn't handle the people. Many, like my friends Kerry and Joe, just gave up and took a taxi in. I am sure that cost a pretty penny as that has to be 20 miles or more. But, many did wait for the trains and missed the beginning of the program. Which is the section that Sarah Palin was in, so I am sure many were disappointed about that. As usual they underestimated the crowd at the beginning and stopped giving out unloading permits to buses. The metro didn't open early as it should have, as much would have been avoided. The metro lost a small fortune as many were given their fares for free.
The people were lined up as far as the eye could see. The Lincoln Memorial, for those who don't know, is away from Constitution Avenue by a few blocks, we were lined up from the reflecting pool all the way out to Constitution. Just a little directional stuff here, the National Mall runs from the Lincoln Memorial all the way down to the Capitol Building. Starting at the Virginia line, the Lincoln Memorial is first, then comes the reflecting pool, which then opens up to the WWII Memorial. There is a street in between the WWII and the Washington Monument. I heard that the crowd from the Beck rally made all the way across that street. That is also where Al Sharpton's rally "Recapture the Dream" is what I believe it was called. My friends who took a taxi in went by there, and told me that it was a very small crowd. But, I didn't see it for myself so I don't know.
I had an amazing seat. Which since I got there at 5:30am I should have. I didn't even need to look at the jumbotron, as I had a great view of the podium. The one issue was that once the people who were delayed finally showed up, so many people got in front of me that I had a hard time seeing. It sometimes really stinks being short.
I met some amazing people, as I always do at these events. The people behind me were from New York City of all places. The young couple next to me was from Washington State, with I what I believe to be the youngest attendee, their one month old daughter, Mia. A really cutie who was so well behaved. The couple sitting next to me drove seven days from San Francisco. The family in front of me was from Missouri. I also met people from Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Iowa, Indiana, and saw a bus that had a sign from Alaska. Obviously, Beck drew people from all over the country.
The one bad piece of news that I did receive today was from the young couple who was sitting to my left are from Nevada. We got to talking about Harry Reid. Of course they don't want to see him be re-elected, but they are not jazzed about Sharon Angle, some of her views are just to Ron Paulian for their tastes. Not only that, none of their friends or neighbors are either. They told me that they are working on getting an Independent onto the ballot. We all know what that means, Harry Reid gets re-elected.
The photos are not very exciting, because I find the most interesting part is the inventiveness of the signs, and everyone listened. The only signs were from the counter protesters. One of which that said something about how evil religion is.
I really would like a left minded individual to explain to me, what exactly is so scary about what we did today. We prayed, we sang some hymns and The National Anthem, we listening to Amazing Grace on the Bagpipes and to some country music. Really, what is so scary about that? Look at those crazy radicals!!! How dare they? A boy scout of all things!!
Amazing Grace always gives me chills, but even more so when it is done on bagpipes. I know that I was not the only there who shed a few tears during this.
I did do something a little naughty today. I had to use the restroom and the porta potties were not really usable in very quick order. I decided to walk up to the memorial itself to use that bathroom. The media was interviewing some of the black people who were there and asking the same old boring questions about racism and The Tea Party. I couldn't help myself; I went up and put my arm around the guy (whom I have never met) and gave him a peck on the cheek and told the reporter that I love this man's courage for standing by his convictions. I looked at the reporter and said let the racism go, it is long since gotten old.
Vietnam Vets
This is Military Man Joe, he has spent his entire adult life defending this country, Say Thanks Joe!!
As always, we cleaned up after ourselves.
And of course the Tea Party's Fave Michele Bachmann held a mini townhall to give us a chance to speak to her and ask her questions after the Beck rally ended. LOVE HER!!
I was supposed to go and meet the Hillbuzz Boys, but time ran out and I had to get home. I am sorry that I didn't get a chance to go over and meet them in Foggy Bottom. It would have been fun.
Oh, here is an ariel photo of the "thousands" that attended. Me and a few of my nearest and dearest: Really, it just me and my neighbors that showed up.
I don't know who took this photo, but I found it on facebook.
I have been very sick for the past few days and slept most of the day away today and yesterday, so now I am wide awake. I decided to stretch my legs and check out what was going on at the Lincoln Memorial.
The banner above the picture says Restoring Honor, but it was too dark to get a good picture.
The one thing that I noticed was that there was not nearly enough porta-potties. One of the policeman I spoke to told me that they should be adding more. I certainly hope so, otherwise we need to not drink anything. The weather is going to be perfect. It is supposed to be in the mid 80's with very low humidity, which is unusual for this time of the year. The policeman also told me they are expecting 500,000 people. He also told me that both Constitution and Independence will be closed, through 18th Street. If you are planning on driving in (probably not the best of ideas), but you can park behind the State Department past E street. That won't be too bad of a walk. The metro doesn't open until 7 AM and only three trains per hour on the weekends. The closest stop will be Smithosian (Orange Line), or getting off at the White House (I think that is Vermont) won't be too far of a walk either.
The area seems to have be a great deal of security, so everyone should be perfectly safe.
"For Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin to have a march, they have the right to do so. Many of us suspect they are using the symbolism of that day in a way that does not reflect what that day is about. At no point will we interchange. We will not desecrate the march and what King stood for."
Al Sharpton
"It is very important that we convey a positive message that America belongs to everyone. Our rally is not an 'us against them'. We want no confrontation with Glenn Beck. But we want a confrontation with the ideas that he espouses. His ideas seem to be ideas of intolerance."
Marc Morial President of The National Urban League.
".....I say to you today, my friends, so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.
I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal."
I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.
I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.
I have a dream today.
I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of interposition and nullification; one day right there in Alabama, little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers....."
Dr. Martin Luther King
Where in the above excerpts would anyone get the idea that Dr. King wouldn't want a white man to celebrate his speech? This is exactly what Dr. King wanted, for us to come together as Americans and people of faith and take pride in our heritage as Americans. Yet, the race baiters are out in full force to say that Beck and by extension the people that will show up this weekend are somehow disrespecting the amazing legacy of Dr. King. We must RAAAACIST.
I can in no way be as eloquent as tea party favorite Lloyd Marcus was with latest article.
These are the same hypocritical so-called black leaders who demanded that white America honor the memory of the civil rights icon with MLK Boulevards across America. But when a "white boy" chooses to embrace Dr. King's vision and dream by holding his "Restoring Honor" rally on the same day as Dr. King's historic speech, the Black Civil Rights Mafia, the race profiteers, yell, "How dare you? MLK belongs to us!"
I am a black American who wishes to thank brother Beck for honoring Dr. King in such a powerful way. Beck's "Restoring Honor" rally is linking the restoration of our great nation's Godly principles, freedom, liberty, and culture to the black civil rights leader. Beck's rally is a wonderful tribute to the man I remember, when I was a little boy, as being larger than life. I was there, August 28, 1963, in Washington, D.C. with my dad -- yellow school buses lined up and black people as far as I could see. I do not remember feeling hate in the air. Dr. King spoke of all Americans yielding to God, righteousness, and brotherhood. Sounds like Beck to me."
Nile Gardiner, from Britian, is the Washington based foreign policy commentator for The Telegraph. His views of the Obama presidency are pretty stunning. The American people are seeing for themselves what exactly happens when we elect a man with no experience and a world view that is opposed to vast majority of the American people. Most Americans do believe in American exceptionalism. People come here from all over the world to find their own piece of the American dream. That dream is may take a different direction from others, but the basic premise remains the same. People come here to be free to be who they are.
1. The Obama presidency is out of touch with the American people
2. Most Americans don’t have confidence in the president’s leadership
This deficit of trust in Obama’s leadership is central to his decline. According to a recent Washington Post/ABC News poll, “nearly six in ten voters say they lack faith in the president to make the right decisions for the country”, and two thirds “say they are disillusioned with or angry about the way the federal government is working.” The poll showed that a staggering 58 per cent of Americans say they do not have confidence in the president’s decision-making, with just 42 per cent saying they do.
3. Obama fails to inspire
In contrast to the soaring rhetoric of his 2006 Convention speech in Chicago which succeeded in impressing millions of television viewers at the time, America is no longer inspired by Barack Obama’s flat, monotonous and often dull presidential speeches and statements delivered via teleprompter. From his extraordinarily uninspiring Afghanistan speech at West Point to his flat State of the Union address, President Obama has failed to touch the heart of America. Even Jimmy Carter was more moving.
4. The United States is drowning in debt
The Congressional Budget Office Long-Term Budget Outlook offers a frightening picture of the scale of America’s national debt. Under its alternative fiscal scenario, the CBO projects that US debt could rise to 87 percent of GDP by 2020, 109 percent by 2025, and 185 percent in 2035. While much of Europe, led by Britain and Germany, are aggressively cutting their deficits, the Obama administration is actively growing America’s debt, and has no plan in place to avert a looming Greek-style financial crisis.
5. Obama’s Big Government message is falling flat
The relentless emphasis on bailouts and stimulus spending has done little to spur economic growth or create jobs, but has greatly advanced the power of the federal government in America. This is not an approach that is proving popular with the American public, and even most European governments have long ditched this tax and spend approach to saving their own economies.
6. Obama’s support for socialised health care is a huge political mistake
In an extraordinary act of political Harakiri, President Obama leant his full support to the hugely controversial, unpopular and divisive health care reform bill, with a monstrous price tag of $940 billion, whose repeal is now supported by 55 per cent of likely US voters. As I wrote at the time of its passing, the legislation is “a great leap forward by the United States towards a European-style vision of universal health care, which will only lead to soaring costs, higher taxes, and a surge in red tape for small businesses. This reckless legislation dramatically expands the power of the state over the lives of individuals, and could not be further from the vision of America’s founding fathers.”
7. Obama’s handling of the Gulf oil spill has been weak-kneed and indecisive
While much of the spilled oil in the Gulf has now been thankfully cleared up, the political damage for the White House will be long-lasting. Instead of showing real leadership on the matter by acing decisively and drawing upon offers of international support, the Obama administration settled on a more convenient strategy of relentlessly bashing an Anglo-American company while largely sitting on its hands. Significantly, a poll of Louisiana voters gave George W. Bush higher marks for his handling of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, with 62 percent disapproving of Obama’s performance on the Gulf oil spill.
8. US foreign policy is an embarrassing mess under the Obama administration
It is hard to think of a single foreign policy success for the Obama administration, but there have been plenty of missteps which have weakened American global power as well as the standing of the United States. The surrender to Moscow on Third Site missile defence, the failure to aggressively stand up to Iran’s nuclear programme, the decision to side with ousted Marxists in Honduras, the slap in the face for Great Britain over the Falklands, have all contributed to the image of a US administration completely out of its depth in international affairs. The Obama administration’s high risk strategy of appeasing America’s enemies while kicking traditional US allies has only succeeded in weakening the United States while strengthening her adversaries.
9. President Obama is muddled and confused on national security
From the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq to the War on Terror, President Obama’s leadership has often been muddled and confused. On Afghanistan he rightly sent tens of thousands of additional troops to the battlefield. At the same time however he bizarrely announced a timetable for the withdrawal of US forces beginning in July 2011, handing the initiative to the Taliban. On Iraq he has announced an end to combat operations and the withdrawal of all but 50,000 troops despite a recent upsurge in terrorist violence and political instability, and without the Iraqi military and police ready to take over. In addition he has ditched the concept of a War on Terror, replacing it with an Overseas Contingency Operation, hardly the right message to send in the midst of a long-war against Al-Qaeda.
10. Obama doesn’t believe in American greatness
Barack Obama has made it clear that he doesn’t believe in American exceptionalism, and has made apologising for his country into an art form. In a speech to the United Nations last September he stated that “no one nation can or should try to dominate another nation. No world order that elevates one nation or group of people over another will succeed. No balance of power among nations will hold.” It is difficult to see how a US president who holds these views and does not even accept America’s greatness in history can actually lead the world’s only superpower with force and conviction.
There is a distinctly Titanic-like feel to the Obama presidency and it’s not hard to see why. The most left-wing president in modern American history has tried to force a highly interventionist, government-driven agenda that runs counter to the principles of free enterprise, individual freedom, and limited government that have made the United States the greatest power in the world, and the freest nation on earth.
This, combined with weak leadership both at home and abroad against the backdrop of tremendous economic uncertainty in an increasingly dangerous world, has contributed to a spectacular political collapse for a president once thought to be invincible. America at its core remains a deeply conservative nation, which cherishes its traditions and founding principles. President Obama is increasingly out of step with the American people, by advancing policies that undermine the United States as a global power, while undercutting America’s deep-seated love for freedom.
Listen to this speech about the American Dream and the important role it plays in the life of Americans, especially part 6, that is why people come from all over the world to come here:

If you are planning on being in DC for the weekend and want to attend this event I would strongly suggest getting to The Kennedy Center very early. There is no free parking around the Kennedy Center, and it isn't really an easy place to walk to because of it's location near the river. You can take a bus or plan on walking a distance for free parking. The Parking at The Kennedy Center is hourly and somewhat limited. Also, if you are looking for hotel space, you may want to go into Northern Virginia or Southern Maryland as most of DC is now sold out. Hotel Space in places like Manassas, Virginia will be less expensive and if you have a car, it won't be too bad to get into the district from there, just prepare for heavy traffic. You can also take in a little history, a civil war battlefield, Bull Run, is located there.
