Quote of the Day - David Plouffe Edition

‘It's What Everybody Expected.’
David Plouffe, Senior Advisor to President Obama, on the jobs report yesterday that showed only 80,000 jobs added for the month of June.

Really?  I thought the private sector was doing just fine.

Quote of the Day - Jay Carney Edition

“A lot of that is due to younger people getting more of an education, which is an economic positive,”
Jay Carney, White House Spokesman, on what will happen to the unemployment number when the more than one million people who were removed from the workforce, return to find jobs.

So, let me get this straight.  It is an econominc postive that younger kids just starting out are continuing with their educations because there are no jobs for them?  Is that all the debt that they are accuring in students loans an economic postive for them too?

I guess they have to spin the lie that is our "official" unemployment number somehow.

Pelosi - The Village Idiot

Ok, so if more people lose their jobs and start collecting unemployment we will have more jobs?  We have close to 10% unemployment, how much higher does the rate need to go so we will start creating jobs?

Also, I was talking to a friend a few weeks ago and she was telling me that her neighbor won't take a low paying job as long as he can get unemployment benefits.  Sorry, Nancy those people do exist.

I live in area where unemployment is relatively low, and stores have help wanted signs in the windows.  Again, they won't be great paying jobs, but a job nonetheless.  Of course, the reason the unemployment rate where I live is low, is because the federal government is hiring like mad.  Yet, I have met people who have been out of work for months.  Work at the grocery store for a while, it is better than nothing.  Yes, it will suck, but sometimes you have to suck it up and make do.
