Pennsylvania was really tightening and would have been a huge embarrassment had he lost and Texas was going to be done proportionally instead of winner take all. There was no path to the nomination, so this was the best thing for everyone, especially the party. Romney can now start gearing up for the fall campaign. He has to get offices opened and volunteer centers into place.
I know many are disappointed that Romney is our nominee (myself among them) but it is what it is. This is what he have. Everyone has to decide what they are and are not going to do. I know some have said they won't vote for him (myself among them), others have said they will vote for him, but won't do any phone banking or door knocking. Others are willing to go all in to get rid of Obama. Everyone has to decide that for themselves.
Santorum did better than anyone would have thought a year ago. Heck even 6 months ago. He has a great deal to be proud of. It is no secret that I didn't think he was right for the job as POTUS, but that doesn't mean I think he doesn't have a place in the debate in the country. Personally, I firmly believe that he should start up a non-profit group and spread his message of family to poorer, urban areas where two parent homes are hard to come by. He could do some real good. The welfare system is destroying families in poorer communities and they need to be given a chance to see how it can be different.
