I am sure by now you have heard about the Miss USA Pageant last week. Miss California, Carrie Prejean, was asked a question about Gay Marriage. The question came from openly gay Perez Hilton. Ms. Prejean answered the question by standing up for her Christian beliefs.
Perez Hilton does not have a record of tolerance. This is a man who "outs" other gay people, whether they want to be open about it or not. So it should come as no surprise that he has no tolerance for her beliefs.
What is really disturbing about it is his reaction to it on his blog. Calling her every name in the book. Isn't that uncalled for? It seems to me the only thing that she is guilty of is being honest about her value system.
No matter where you fall on this particular issue you should be at least be able to understand that others are not going to agree with you. Miss California goes to a Christian college. It makes one wonder if that background information was part of the decision making process that went into asking that question. Other people involved in the pageant lambasted Carrie's answer as well. Saying these types of politics don't belong in the Miss USA pageant. Well, then why was that question allowed to be asked? It was a yes or no question; you have 50% chance that the answer would be no.
I think that if you look at the evidence from this particular incident, you will clearly see that the hate is coming from Perez Hilton; not Miss California. I think that this is just one more glaring example of the intolerance towards people of the Christian faith in this county that is becoming more prevalent every day.
I agree with you - sort of. I support gay marriage, but understand that not everyone shares my opionion. That doesn't make them 'wrong' or 'evil' just of a different mindset.
ReplyDeleteI'm following you from the MBC Under 100 Club. I look forward to reading more.
I agree with you but I do not support gay marriage or homosexual lifestyle period. I know that I am not the one to judge people, God is the only judge but I do not condone this lifestyle and I applaude Ms. California for standing up to this very liberal sorry excuse for a man.
ReplyDeleteI really wasn't putting in my point of view. At least that was not my intent. My real point is about the attacks that people of the Christian faith in this country have to put up with. It seems to be ok to attack Christians and not other faiths. It just makes me crazy. I know that some people don't agree, but this is just one of many many examples that I could come up with.
ReplyDeleteI guess from the name of my blog you can figure out where I fall on the issue, but I really was trying to comment on the faith issue not the marriage issue.
Thanks for commenting ladies. I look forward to reading yours as well.
Great blog! I am too from MBC under 100.
