It is th...Teachers are not villified by the right. It is the unions and the lack of choice that we villify. In DC the voucher program cost less money and gave a better education. The unions spent over a millions dollars to get rid of the mayor which was really done to get Michelle Rhea fired. Her approach is student centered and the unions can't stand her because of it. Now, DC is has to give back pay to the teachers who were fired for bad performance. Yeah, I have a probelm with that. So should you, as this is federal money. Money isn't what is wrong with our system. We spend more than most other countries but have worst results.
There are videos of higher up people in the NEA flat out saying the children are not their priority. How can you not be outraged at that? The rank file union person hs little say on how the union behaves. It is the Trumpka's of the world that we have a problem with.

Oh, also ask someone on the far left to talk about homeschoolers. Talk about being villified.Just a conservative girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11982406297072353275noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2414290528721230538.post-3619733893423963002011-02-22T12:28:29.037-05:002011-02-22T12:28:29.037-05:00Only five states do not allow collective bargainin...Only five states do not allow collective bargaining for educators. Those states and their ranking on ACT/SAT scores: South Carolina, 50th; North Carolina, 49th; Georgia, 48th; Texas, 47th; Virginia, 44th.
Wisconsin, with its collective bargaining for teachers, is 2nd.

It is sad the degree to which teachers have been vilified by the right. i know you'll say you have no problem with teachers themselves, or you only dislike the bad teachers, but take a look at some of the language. you'd think we ought to just eliminate teaching altogether because no one can do it right.hometown guynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2414290528721230538.post-75410669244867609952011-02-21T23:47:41.085-05:002011-02-21T23:47:41.085-05:00Guy:

Walker has choosen to leave the firefighters and police alone and personally I find that to be a mistake.

People who work for gov't have pay scales based on time in, so there is no reason for them to use unions for wages. Which by the way they will still have. It is only the benefits packages that will no longer have collective bargaining rights. Even the liberal left giant FDR didn't believe in public sector unions.

I have no problem with unions in certain industries; such as logging, mining and fishing. They are very dangerous jobs and I think the unions keep the workers more safe.

I am sick death of hearing teachers unions supporters talk about comprise. It was in WI that that the unions would rather lose 600 jobs instead of giving up viagra benefits. My insurance doesn't cover stuff like that, why should theirs? You want viagra you can pay for it yourself.

We cannot afford these contracts anymore. The public school system stinks. They are below average as a state. The City of Milwaukee is one of the worst school systems in the country. If I did my job as below average I would be fired. But not them. They need to join the real world. The rest of us have to pay for our pensions/retirement. So should they. There is no justificiation that my taxes just keep going up taking more money away from my retirement to pay for theirs even when they are substandard at their job.Just a conservative girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11982406297072353275noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2414290528721230538.post-47092093146960013192011-02-21T20:45:27.682-05:002011-02-21T20:45:27.682-05:00Some real deep thinkers here. Some real deep thinkers here.Kidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05287399775879832602noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2414290528721230538.post-8218412511550524662011-02-21T13:18:49.719-05:002011-02-21T13:18:49.719-05:00Should collective bargaining rights be eliminated ...Should collective bargaining rights be eliminated for private sector employees as well, or just public?
What about police and firefighters?
