Saturday Night Live Does an Obama Rally on Jobs

Quote of the Day - Jonathon S. Tobin Edition

The vast majority of Americans, including most members of minority groups, have photo IDs. Those who don’t can get them free of charge from the state. Those without them can cast provisional ballots that will not be invalidated unless they cannot subsequently prove their identity. The idea that this uncomplicated law is a new version of “Jim Crow” drains that term of any meaning. Liberals have redefined “voting rights” to mean something different from what it did half a century ago. Then it meant depriving people of the right to vote on the basis of race. Now it means defending the right of any person who can’t prove their identities or citizenship to vote illegally. Mrs. Obama and the left have turned a sacred cause into a farce.
What else is new?  They turn many things into a farce.  Including the term racist.

Jay-Z Admits Voting Based On Skin Color, Yet I am the Racist

We have all heard the stories of President Obama and the $40,000 per person fundraiser held by Jay-Z and his wife Beyonce.  A fundraiser, I might add, that was held immediately following a terrorist attack on our country and the deaths of four people in that attack.

I have said The President is in a tough spot in some respects, it is election season, money has to be raised and the base has to be rallied.  I get it.  But it doesn't change the optics of the whole thing.  They aren't good.  President Obama has this knack of not understanding that.

Jay-Z, not only a supporter of Obama, he is a supporter of The Occupy Movement as well.  That makes these statements to MTV all the more interesting:

"I don't even like the word politics. It implies something underhanded and I think we need less government,"
"I support Barack because I gotta respect that sort of vision. I gotta respect a man who is the first black President ever," he said. "To have that sort of vision and dream, I have to support that."
It sounds like Jay-Z is really a libertarian.  His views on social issues seem to be more to the left of mine, but he seems to understand the need for limited government and fiscal responsibility of that government.  So why would he support Obama?  He admits it himself, it is skin color.

He understands the need for economic freedom and the entrepreneurial spirit, that is exactly how he lifted himself out poverty.  He fully understands that the government did not do that for him.  He worked for it.  While I have little use of his music.  I think it glorifies a culture that is unhealthy, but I do respect what he has accomplished in his life.  I also admire that he and his wife do give back to the community.  I may not agree with all the different charities that he supports, but I respect that he understands that individuals have a role to play to help the less fortunate in the world.

What I don't respect is that not only does he not vote his own values, he does so based on skin color.  I am not oblivious to the fact that the first black president is a big deal.  I get that.  But it needs to be based on character, accomplishment, and ability or doesn't really mean anything.

People in this country need to open their eyes and accept the fact that many people voted for President Obama solely based on the color of his skin, and have closed their eyes to the fact that he isn't qualified for the job.  Voting on skin color is just plain wrong.  I say that about the people who voted against him as well as the people who voted for him.  We are not electing Prom King, we are electing the leader of the free world.  The office has been diminished by people like Jay-Z.  It is a shame he doesn't see that.

The Obama Lies Continue - $18,000 for Birth Control?

Do people really buy into this crap?  How can people allow themselves to be so manipulated by lies?  It is simply mind blowing.

For those who want to deny this comes from the campaign, notice the bottom right corner.  This comes from the campaign website in their ecard section.

So in the past 24 hours we have an Ohio woman who believes that Obama gives her a phone.  She seems to not understand that people who actually pay for their cell phone pay a fee that goes into a fund to pay for her "free" phone.  This fund was put into place before Obama took office.  Now I find out that birth control costs $18,000.  Why would you vote for man who so blatantly lies to you?

Quote of the Day - Penny Marshall Edition

"I wish my mom aborted me"

So says feminist writer Lynn Beisner.  She says this is not the typical I wish I were dead pleading, but a simple observation of how her mother's life would be greatly improved had she never been born.
An abortion would have absolutely been better for my mother. An abortion would have made it more likely that she would finish high school and get a college education. At college in the late 1960s, it seems likely she would have found feminism or psychology or something that would have helped her overcome her childhood trauma and pick better partners. She would have been better prepared when she had children. If nothing else, getting an abortion would have saved her from plunging into poverty. She likely would have stayed in the same socioeconomic strata as her parents and grandparents who were professors. I wish she had aborted me because I love her and want what is best for her.
Apparently her mother has had a very difficult life and having her just made those difficulties worse.  But there is a great deal of jumping to conclusions in her theory.  She says that her mother could have stayed in the socioeconomic strata as her grandparents.  But she goes on to tell the story of how her mother was abused as a child, had a brain injury as a child, and her grandmother committed suicide when her mother was still in grade school.  Her mother was also a child rape victim.

She believes that her mother wasn't strong enough to give her child up for adoption, so abortion would be the answer that makes sense.  Her mother has led a very tragic life and Ms. Beisner believes that her presence in her mother's life was the reason she never was able to get the help that she needed to be happier.  If only her mother found feminism, she wouldn't have been sexually exploited.  Because heaven knows women today that consider themselves feminists are not sexually exploited.

As a child her mother abused her, she watched men sexually exploit her due to her poverty, and her childhood was an all around mess.
With that constellation of factors, there was a very high statistical probability that my mother would be an abusive parent, that we would spend the rest of our lives in crushing poverty, and that we would both be highly vulnerable to predatory organisations and men. And that is exactly what happened. She abused me, beating me viciously and often. We lived in bone-crushing poverty, and our little family became a magnet for predatory men and organisations. My mother found minimal support in a small church, and became involved with the pastor who was undeniably schizophrenic, narcissistic and sadistic. The abuse I endured was compounded by deprivation. Before the age of 14, I had never been to a sleepover, been allowed to talk to a friend on the phone, eaten in a restaurant, watched a television show, listened to the radio, read a non-Christian book, or even worn a pair of jeans.
It doesn't seem to occur to her that all those things could have happened to her mother anyway.  It seems to me that her mother also have mental health issues, probably passed down from her grandmother.   Her grandfather didn't seem all that interested in helping his young daughter or granddaughter for that matter.  Abortion wouldn't have made her grandfather a better parent, would it?  Her mother still had to survive all the odds that were stacked against her.

Sadly, according to her, her mother is still desperately unhappy to the point that they are unable to have a relationship.  But, the writer has been able to find her way out of the  circumstances that she found herself growing up in.  She is happily married and raising two children of her own.  She has found stability in her life and happiness.  But she still believes that her life is a net loss.
The world would not be a darker or poorer place without me. Actually, in terms of contributions to the world, I am a net loss. Everything that I have done – including parenting, teaching, researching, and being a loving partner – could have been done as well, if not better by other people. Any positive contributions that I have made are completely offset by what it has cost society to help me overcome the disadvantages and injuries of my childhood to become a functional and contributing member of society.
What the writer is really saying is that poor children really don't contribute much to society; in fact they cost society, so there is no point in having them around.  The truth is poverty is far from the only indicator of child abuse.  There are many reasons why people abuse their children and it reaches through all strata of the economic ladder.  The insulting nature of this story is that any child that has the misfortune of having an abusive parent should be cast aside.  They are too much work.

There is just as much of a chance that the only reason her mother didn't commit suicide was because she had a daughter.  Just because a parent is abusive, it doesn't mean they don't love their child.  I am no way justifying that behavior, I am just saying that being troubled, doesn't mean you don't have the capacity to love.  What it truly means is that you don't have the capacity to show it in a healthy and balanced way.

The most tragic part of all of this, is that she doesn't believe that her children deserved a chance at life.  I am not sure how old her children are, but they have a lot of life yet to live.  Who knows what contribution they are going to make to the world in their futures.  Without her, obviously her children would never have born.  It is a cold thing to say about your own children.  A very cold thing.

***Her children and her discussed this article before she wrote it, and they are ok with it.  Ugh.

Quote of the Day - Joy Behar Edition Part 4

Obama is being bashed for doing the View instead of meeting world leaders. Maybe he'd rather talk to me than Netanyahu. Ever think of that?
Joy Behar on Twitter.

Yes, I did think of that, and it is exactly the problem.  As much as she may not realize this, she isn't all that important in terms of governing.  Bibi kinda is.

A Little NFL Ref Humor

After what happened last night during Monday Night Football I think this is a little appropriate this afternoon.

Quote of the Day - Adviser to President Obama

"If he met with one leader, he would have to meet with 10."
Silly me, I thought that was what he was being paid to do.  Don't worry Bibi, the election is almost over, he may find time for you then.

Quote of the Day - Stephanie Cutter Edition Part 2

not really concerned about what’s happened over the last four years, they really want to know what’s going to happen in the next four years.
Stephanie Cutter, Deputy Campaign Manager for Obama for America speaking about women voters.

Oh really?

You Have a Headache? Too Bad. Oh, You Need Morning After Pill, No Problem. - NYC City Schools Give out Plan B Without Parental Consent

As unbelievable as this sounds, it is true.  If you a high school student in New York City you will be given nothing to help you with a headache, but you can be given the morning after pill.  Your daughter can also get an injection of birth control that will last for three months.  New York City also does hand out free condoms as well.

Birth control pills can cause hypertension and stroke.  Are these girls being given a full exam before these are administered?  Are they being monitored by an actual doctor?
About 28 percent of city students entering ninth grade have already had sex, and more than half are sexually active before completing high school, according to city data.
My heart just breaks for these girls.  I remember when I was that age I knew only girl who was sexually active and nearly everyone had a name for her.   I was 13 when I started high school.  It is heartbreaking to me that girls that young are already engaging in an activity that they do not have the maturity to understand.  They are looking for love in all the wrong places.

One teacher says:
Teacher Rosa Chavez applauded CATCH, saying she had two pregnant students last year. Getting knocked up, she said, “is not cool and not accepted among peers.”
But Chavez worries that giving girls Plan B emergency contraception might encourage careless sex.
Gee, ya think?  Of course it gives girls the idea that they don't have to be responsible for their actions, someone else will help them take care of it later.
“We can’t give out a Tylenol without a doctor’ s order,” said a school staffer. “Why should we give out hormonal preparations with far more serious possible side effects, such as blood clots and hypertension?”
Here we are America, the public school system has decided that they can give your children hormones without your consent.  While they do offer an opt-out plan:
But sophomore Annette Palacios, 15, outside the school with her mom, said parents should give consent in case their children are “allergic” to the drugs.
“Girls shouldn’t be sexually active at that age,” she added.
Her mom, Pania, complained that she got no opt-out letter — and does not want Annette to secretly get Plan B or birth-control pills from the nurse.
You want your food cooked with salt?  Nope.  You want to eat something that contains trans fats?  Nope.  You want a Big Gulp?  Forgetaboutit.  Birth control and Plan B pills without parental consent?  Perfectly acceptable.

It is a brave new world, America.

About those Values Mr. Vice President

This truly cannot be said enough so I decided to cover this information again.  Last month Vice President Biden made the following comment:
“And, by the way, I’ve been saying this for 30 years. And I’m glad to see that Congressman Ryan likes his dad, too, and quotes his dad. I mean that sincerely. But my dad [had] a lot of wisdom. Every time someone tells you, say, ‘Look, let me tell you what’s important to me, what I value.’ My dad would go, ‘No, no. Don’t tell me what you value. Show me your budget, and I will tell you what you value.’”
So lets take a look at The Vice President values charity:
                    Gross Income              Charity
1998             $215,432                      $195
1999             $210,797                      $120
2000             $219,953                      $360
2001             $220,712                      $360
2002             $227,811                      $260
2003             $231,375                      $260
2004             $234,271                      $380
2005             $321,379                      $380
2006             $248,459                      $380
2007             $319,853                      $995
2008             $269,256                      $1885
2009             $333,182                      $4820
2010             $379,178                      $5350
2011             $379,035                      $5540
Total             $3,810,693                   $21,285
For a grand total of .005%

The average for the Romney family is 13.45%.

So what is that value Mr. Vice President?  It certainly isn't charitable giving.

The Obama's were very stingy with charitable giving as well, that is until he decided to run for public office on the federal level.  They could afford a $2 million home, but not too much for charity.  I hope that his charitable giving stays at current levels or increases once he leaves the presidency, as he will be making millions and millions per year once he does.

Yes, The Left is That Crazy - Romney Paid Too Much in Taxes

The overdue release of Gov. Romney’s 2011 tax return and failure to offer more than a cryptic summary of earlier years both raise more questions than they answer.
What Americans did learn today is that Gov. Romney had to artificially engineer his tax rate to avoid paying only about 9 percent on almost $14 million in investment income. Even with his accounting trick, he still paid a lower percentage in taxes than the millions of working Americans who Gov. Romney derided as lazy victims of government dependency.
Gov. Romney’s cooked tax rate of 14.1 percent is also still lower than that of the millions of middle-class families, who would see a $2,000 tax increase under a Romney presidency.
Gov. Romney himself recently said that if he paid more than he owed, it would “disqualify” him from being president. But that’s exactly what he did, as we saw today when he released his 2011 tax returns just to generate better headlines.
Gov. Romney should immediately meet the standard expected by the American people, a standard he set for his vice presidential nominee—10 years of full tax returns. It is time for Gov. Romney to come clean about his own tax returns and the tax returns he will be imposing on America’s middle class.
This from The Center for American Progress.

Harry Reid says he is hiding something.

Romney did not take advantage of all the charitable donations that he could have.  The reason that he did it was because when he released his estimated return back in April, his figures were incomplete.   Once all the figures came in he realized that his taxable rates would be lower than he originally said they would.  He paid the amount that he said he would be paying back in April.  So since he is paying more than he legally required to do they are complaining.

Romney is not in charge of his income and his investments.  They are in a blind trust.  The investments are handled by third party who makes the decisions about where his money will be invested.

He paid $1.9+ million in federal income taxes.  He gave more than $4 million to charity.  A full 30% of his income.  Unlike VP Biden who gave less than 2%, (he is cheap, cheap man with his own money, and if you read the White House release carefully, it says 'inkind' contributions, that means he wrote of his time/party as well).

The new attack is now that his church requires tithing.  Yes, they do.  The Mormon Church asks for 10% of your income.  To the left this doesn't count.  Here is a list of things that The Mormon Church does with this money:
Clean Water programs in third world countries, wheelchairs for the disabled, Tsunami relief in Japan, earthquake relief in Pakistan, self sufficeny projects in the Andres, earthquake relief in Haiti, immunizing against preventable illnesses, poverty relief in Africa, vision care for the poor, homes for at risk boys, working to help to prevent amputations, working with amputees.
Horrible, horrible people.  How dare they give money and time to these causes?  The Romney's have their own foundation that works with at risk children.  Ann has given money to Planned Parenthood, to help with breast cancer outreach to poor communities.  They give money to help fund research into M.S.  Again, horrible people - how dare they.

President Obama did release many years of income tax returns when he ran for president.  What we did learn from those returns is that he and his wife gave very little to charity, that is until he decided to run for public office.  What church did he give to?  Oh yeah, the Reverend "God Damn America" Wright church of racial politics and hatred.  The Romney's have been giving money to charity since their marriage began.  In fact, what he was left after his parents passed away went to charity in full.

The Romney's have been painted as people who don't care for the poor.  These income tax returns prove a very different story.  He has made it his life to help others in need.  You can watch this video of people talking to Glenn Beck about what Romney did for them and the lives of others.  All of which was done under the radar.  He doesn't do it for fame, for thank-you's, for any other reason other than he believes that to those have been given much, much is expected.  It is part of his faith and part of him.  Yes, Glenn gets weepy at the end of this, but that isn't the point.  The point is the people whose lives have been helped.

I am not thrilled with the Romney nomination.  I have been very clear about that since the primaries started.  But my reasons for that have nothing to do with who he is as a man.  As a man, I can't find much to complain about.  He has been a faithful husband, a loving, doting father and grandfather, he doesn't use drugs, and he gives of his time and parts with his money to people who need help.  The left have got nothing to use, so they are creating a false narrative that he is man that doesn't care about the poor.  His life proves otherwise.

The left is also wrong about the tax rates that he pays compared to other American's.
Income taxes: A family of four in the exact middle of the income spectrum will pay only 5.6 percent of its 2011 income in federal income taxes, according to a new analysis by the Urban Institute-Brookings Institution Tax Policy Center. [3] Average income tax rates for these typical families have been lower during the Bush and Obama Administrations than at any time since the 1950s, as Figure 1 shows. (As discussed below, 2009 and 2010 were particularly low because of the temporary Making Work Pay Tax Credit.) And for those that don't know, Brookings is left leaning.
The Romney's are in the 80 percent of tax payers.  Only 20% of Americans pay a higher rate then he does.  Sad, but the truth is the truth.

Don't vote for Romney if you don't like his political positions, but for anyone that thinks that these show something that should be a red flag, you are buying into media hype.  They show exactly the opposite.

Oh Harry and Nancy - Romney Releases Tax Returns

Senator Harry Reid went the despicable route and accused Mitt Romney of paying no taxes for ten years on the senate floor.  The reason he did so was because while talking on the senate floor he can't be held accountable for his slanderous remarks as he is constitutionally protected (and people say the constitution is no longer relevant) from being criminally or civilly charged.  Romney today released tax returns and a notarized letter from PriceWaterhouseCoopers testifying to their truthfulness.
  • In 2011, the Romneys paid $1,935,708 in taxes on $13,696,951 in mostly investment income.
  • The Romneys’ effective tax rate for 2011 was 14.1%.
  • The Romneys donated $4,020,772 to charity in 2011, amounting to nearly 30% of their income.
  • The Romneys claimed a deduction for $2.25 million of those charitable contributions.
  • The Romneys’ generous charitable donations in 2011 would have significantly reduced their tax obligation for the year. The Romneys thus limited their deduction of charitable contributions to conform to the Governor's statement in August, based upon the January estimate of income, that he paid at least 13% in income taxes in each of the last 10 years.
Nanny Pelosi had joined in with her statement attesting to the statements by Reid that "someone" gave him this information.
"Harry Reid made a statement that is true. Somebody told him. It is a fact," Pelosi told The Huffington Post in a Sunday interview. "Whether he did or not can easily be disposed of: Mitt Romney can release his tax returns and show whether he paid taxes."
Well, I guess it can still be "fact" that someone told him that, but they were wrong.  I am sure the next line of defense will be that middle-income America is paying a higher rate than the Romney's are.  Ok, lets talk about it.
(As discussed below, 2009 and 2010 were particularly low because of the temporary Making Work Pay Tax Credit.) From the left leaning Brookings
The Romney's are in the top 80% of tax payers.  He is not paying a lower rate of taxes then the average American.  President Bush lowered the taxes for middle and lower-income Americans.
Federal income taxes on middle-income families have declined significantly in recent decades.  In 2000, the yearbefore the 2001 tax cut enacted by President Bush and Congress, the median-income family of four paid 8.0 percent of its income in individual income taxes, according to Tax Policy Center estimates — a smaller share than in any year since 1967 (except for 1998 and 1999).[4]
The Bush tax cuts further reduced middle-income tax obligations.  This year (i.e., when people pay income tax on 2011 income) the Tax Policy Center estimates that the median-income family of four will pay 5.6 percent of its income in federal income taxes.
It is a fallacy that the rich don't pay their "fair share".  They pay a much higher rate of taxes than the majority of Americans.

I will be expecting an apology from Harry and Nanny in 3..2..1  (or maybe never)

This is an important discussion to have, most people have no idea what their tax rates are and who is paying what.  This just begs for a more flatter system that doesn't allow for all these deductions that allows the politicians to manipulate us with the lies that they tell us of who is paying what.  This flatter tax system is part of the Ryan budget.  It lowers the rates, gets rid of the many of the loopholes that many large corporations, such as GE, use to get out of paying any taxes at all.  The "rich" already pay their fair share, what we need to do is reduce spending and learn to live on what we take in.  We don't have a revenue problem, we have a spending problem.

R.I.P. America - Pledge Allegiance to Obama & The Obama States of America

Well we can start with the clear violation of the US Flag Code (yes there is such a thing) and then move on to just how creepy this really is.  Do they not see it?

I especially like a movie star talking about equal pay.  That is rich.  Does she think that all actors are being paid equally?  No they are not.  Why? Because some are better at it than others.  The ones who draw people to watch a TV show or show up in a Movie theater are going to get paid more than those who suck.  It is called market value, you twit.

Under no circumstances would I vote for a person who did this.  I don't care who they are.  This is idol worship.  No thanks, I pass.

Excuse me while I go lie down and cry

Quote of the Day - Mitt Romney Edition

Believe it or not, I have never done a Romney Quote of the Day.  But this is much better in video form.  Enjoy.

R.I.P. America - PC Police Have Taken Over

Do you remember when you were little and went to your first Daddy/Daughter dance?  I remember mine.  I got all gussied up in a pretty dress, tights, and patent leather shoes.  (Hey, that was the style way back then) and went danced with my daddy.  Most school systems around the country have some form of this.  Over the years they have added things for Mom/Son to do together as well.  It is a great way to bond with a parent.  I would think this is a very special memory for you dads out there as well.

Well, these are a thing of the past, at least in Rhode Island.  Daddy/Daughter dances are no longer allowed.  They are deemed illegal.  Not for what you think either, they pass the title IX test, because they have activities for the boys as well (and let's be honest, the title IX freaks care none for equality of little boys anyway) no, it is because one single mother complained that her daughter was left out because 'she doesn't have a dad'.

Well, the sperm came from somewhere, so she has a dad.  But apparently this single mom is going it alone and the dad is nowhere to be found.  I find that sad for the little girl, I honestly do.  It should come as no surprise that I believe in the traditional family.  But I am sure many of the little girls that go to Daddy/Daughter dances around the country are products of divorce or have parents that were never married.  So I think that this is even more important for those families.  Again, it gives them time to create some special bonds and create memories.

I feel for the girls that don't have a dad to take them to the dance.  Some people die young and that is the reason that there is no dad around. But it would seem to me that in most of these instances there is another man in mom's life that can fill in for the daddy/daughter dance; a brother, your own father, or a close friend.  Apparently this woman has no man in her life that can take her daughter to the dance, so now no one can go.

That's right, every little girl in Rhode Island has been robbed of this coming of age experience because of this one woman.

We have now reached the point that one person gets to decide for an entire state what type of dances elementary schools will put on.

Excuse me while I go lie down and cry.

R.I.P. America - Your Rights Are Gone

I am feeling down today; really down today.  One of the reasons is this story:
Chick-fil-A has pledged to stop giving money to anti-gay groups and to back off political and social debates after an executive’s comments this summer landed the fast-food chain smack in the middle of the gay marriage debate.
The Civil Rights Agenda, which dubs itself the largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender advocacy group in Illinois, said Chick-fil-A agreed in meetings to stop donating to groups such as Focus on the Family and the National Organization for Marriage. Such groups oppose same-sex marriage.
This was done after an Alderman in Chicago was trying to block additional permits for the franchise owner to finish construction on the restaurant he was trying to open.  A restaurant, by the way, that had already had all the permits it needed to do business.  But this Alderman decided that he would shake the company down because he didn't the like the views of the corporate owner of Chick Fil A.

Zero proof existed that Chick Fil A discriminated in its hiring practices nor did they refuse to serve someone based on their sexual orientation.  What they did do is give money to organizations that promoted traditional marriage.  Something that in our Constitutional Republic should be allowed.  If you don't like their beliefs, don't eat there.  That is your right as an American as well.  Instead an elected official has decided that he has the right to interfere with a person's personal belief and shake them down in order to get his way.  To squelch free speech and free assembly.  He has pissed all over the Constitution he has sworn to uphold.

It is of no consequence if you agree with Chick Fil A or not.  You can be for gay marriage and realize how wrong this is. They have taken away their rights, what is stopping them from coming for yours?  America, the land of free, as long as Alderman Moreno says so.

We are no longer free.

Excuse me while I go to lie down and cry.

Quote of the Day - Steven Kurlander Edition

Given the known consequences, it's time to ban garbage that mocks the God of a billion people and purposefully incites the worst religious passions. It's time the Supreme Court reconsidered whether such fiery speech should indeed be protected.
Steven Kurlander of Hernando Today on the video that did not cause the riots in the Muslim world.  The evidence is quite clear, that it was a pre-planned attack to avenge the killing of #2 of al-Qaeda.

This is why I can't be a liberal.  It doesn't matter if the video was offensive, what matters is his right to express his view points.  The fact that they reaction to it was violent only gives credence to his view.

This isn't a Muslim country, this happened in Australia.  It is more than shocking that a woman would give her young child such a sign.  It speaks volumes.  Tolerance only works if it is a two-way street, and from the looks of this this street is anything but two-way.

Quote of the Day - Brit Hume Edition

"I think we're seeing, in these events this week, the further education of a president who was, and to some extent, remains a foreign policy novice and he is learning that his mere Obamaness and all that goes with is simply not sufficient to change the fact that the Middle East remains a tinderbox subject to being lit ablaze by even a small match, which I think that movie is at best a small match,"

Extreme Parenting Edition 4

This Indiana mom has a son who is in trouble with the law.  He was caught and brought into juvenile court.  The judge gave him some community service hours, but nothing else.  Mom is not happy with that punishment and feels it doesn't go far enough in her helping her son understand the gravity of the choices he is making.

She is hoping this may help.

She obviously loves her boy and wants what is best for his future.  He looks horrified.  I guess it depends on how far gone he is with his troubles.  But, she got him to do this, so I would say there is hope.  When you are trying to save a child from drugs, extreme is a relative word.

The Middle East on Fire - Some Observations

The deadly protests are spreading, and not just in the Muslim world.  They have now reached the shores of The United Kingdom.  Protesters have died in at least 3 countries, but it is still early yet.
We have seen verbal attacks on free speech, that should terrify every American.  Especially when they come for the press that is trying to carry water for the President.  Instead of focusing on the real issues, the press is attacking Governor Romney.  One can make the argument that the embassy in Cairo was trying to create calm by sending the message it did.  Fair enough.  But in President Obama's speech on the matter the next day, it seems the press missed this sentence:
While the United States rejects efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others,
The United States does no such thing; Urine JesusThe Da Vinci CodeThe Last Temptation of Christ, and let us not forget the lovely billboards that the rabid atheists display every year at Christmas.  Governor Romney's statement was not only accurate, it needed to be said.  The first, guttural, reaction of the Obama administration was to cower to the demands of lunatics that use any excuse to kill people, and then lecture us on what we should and should not say.

The really sad part is, that many of the people at these protests are useful idiots who can't see for themselves that they are being used by extremists. They gin up these people about how America hates them and is trying to destroy Islam. The vast majority of Americans could have cared less about Islam before 9/11. Many didn't even know who UBL even was, even though he already was involved in the deaths of Americans. The hatred they feel is something that the terrorists have brought upon them and they are too blind to see it.  But I am supposed to curtail my rights to free speech to make them feel better about themselves.  No such luck buddy, not happening.
Free speech does not mean that people can say what they want as long as it doesn't offend anyone else.  It means that people will be offended, because at some point an opinion that you don't agree with will be voiced.

The statements that have come from the leaders in The Middle East contain the same type of asterisk.  The Prime Minister of Egypt:
"We ask the American government to take a firm position toward this film's producers within the framework of international charters that criminalise acts that stir strife on the basis of race, colour or religion."
You can read my response to him here.

The reports are saying that there was advanced warning of these attacks (which only goes to show this has nothing to do with some stupid movie trailer) yet the embassy in Cairo had marines without bullets and Benghazi had virtually no security whatsoever.  Whomever is in charge of the security for the oversees bases at State should be fired for cause.  Immediately.  This was posted online before the attacks even took place, it is hard to deny that there was not some form of advanced warnings of the attacks.

We keep hearing from the media and those on the left that we should be understanding of the feelings of Muslims.  One must then ask the question why then is the killing of bin Laden a cornerstone of the President's re-election campaign?  Doesn't this "hurt" their feelings too?  Details, details....

Before any of the violence broke out we heard reports that President Obama doesn't meet with his security people to get his security briefing more than half the time since he became president.  I am not going to use that to base a false assumption that he isn't reading the briefings.  The chances are he is.  President Bush wasn't given this briefing face to face daily either.  But, where I will object is to the fact that the week leading up to the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks the President couldn't make time to meet face to face with these people at least once?  That I find almost unforgivable.  al Qaeda is very well-known for using symbolism in their attacks.  The probability for at least an attempt of an attack on that date was high.  He should be meeting with the security council face to face during that week.  The idea that you can gauge things the same way when you are talking to someone face to face as you do with the highly impersonal written report is simply stupid.  This should have been a priority.

Today the bodies of those who died were flown back to the U.S.  Both President Obama and Secretary Clinton were on hand to "greet" (a term that I hate) the bodies.  Both of which gave a speech that was directed at both the families in mourning as well as the entire country.  I am glad that he made time in his schedule for this duty.

To be fair, President Obama is in tough spot.  The campaign is 53 days (and counting) away.  He is behind Romney in the money race.  While the "polls" are showing Obama ahead in many of the swing states, anyone that knows how to read the internals of a poll, knows that isn't really accurate.  The media driven polls are slanted (a post to come to show you what I mean) to show that Obama is ahead.  The problem is no polling agency has better polling then a major campaign.  The fact that OFA is now spending resources in Wisconsin is very telling indeed.  I do believe that they are fully aware that they are in trouble.  Their polling may not show him losing the campaign, but it shows that he is going to have to work far harder for it then he did in 08.  But none of this is going to make the optics any less shocking.  The first tweet from the OFA campaign today was this:
The election is in 53 days Pitch in $10 now
This was sent hours AFTER the news broke that the German embassy in The Sudan had been breached, an Islamic flag raised, and set on fire.  This comes on the heals of him spending the evening in Las Vegas, an announcement of a very expensive per plate fundraiser in Hollywood, and Jay-Z and Beyonce.  The thing is this, had he cancelled his appearance at least the Vegas fundraiser he would be in far better shape.  They could have sent Joe or some other Obama lackey to fill in.   The media and the left would have eaten up as proof of how hard he was working to for the American (gag) people.  Instead he goes, while there he tells a bunch of campaign volunteers that they are just like the embassy workers.  Really?  Did one of them just get murdered too?  The optics are horrible, and like it or not optics matter.

I can't imagine all the above is helping in his effort to get re-elected.  But, we will have to wait and see.  53 days to go.

Slippery Slope of Liberalism - Part 6

Hollywood director Nick Cassavetes made the following statement:
“I’m not saying this is an absolute but in a way, if you’re not having kids – who gives a damn? Love who you want. Isn’t that what we say? Gay marriage – love who you want? If it’s your brother or sister it’s super-weird, but if you look at it, you’re not hurting anybody except every single person who freaks out because you’re in love with one another.”
Well at least we can be happy that he feels incestuous relationships shouldn't produce children.  Cassavetes has just recently completed a film about a brother and sister who fall in love and start a relationship while he is in prison.  It recently debuted at The Toronto Film Festival.  As of now, he has no backing to release the movie in the U.S.

I wonder if he feels that a parenting marrying a child is good as well?  Because under no circumstances can that relationship be of equals, parents always have more power in that relationship.  There isn't a relationship in the world that is truly 50/50.  Every romance has one partner that has slightly more power than another.  That is just human nature.  The key is how you make the balance that so both people in the relationship feel that are getting what they want and need from it.

Nature also has something to say about this, The Westermark Effect says that biology prevents us from entering into incestuous relationships:
This effect accounts for the fact that, to our best knowledge, in every human society in history, incest is avoided and usually a social tabooChildren who were raised together develop a strong sexual disinterest for each other. This even works if they are not biologically related. The effect has been studied in Israeli kibbutzim, where children are raised in cohorts of the same age, and there are hardly any marriages among members later.
We have built-in mechanisms that guide us into not having a sexual relationship with close relatives.  Of course if you are strangers as children this will not prevent it, as we found out with that couple in Canada.  You may remember, they were brother and sister who were raised apart after a divorce.  They were never told about each other, met as young adults.  They were engaged to be married and young couples do, they brought their families together to meet.  Once they found out they were related the engagement was called off.  A truly heartbreaking story that could have been avoided had the parents been honest with their children.  But nonetheless, in the majority of cases siblings will be biologically driven not to enter into these relationships.  That says to me that it is against human nature.

We are constantly hearing messages, if it feels good, do it.  The normalization of acts such as these seem to be never-ending.  The ACLU's defense of NAMBLA is just one more example.  The push by some on the far left to normalize pedophilia has already begun.  I am sick and tired of being told that there is no push to normalize the depraved in this country, there is.

Sex with relatives with siblings and/or parents is wrong.  Sex with children is wrong.  It would seem pretty simple that this would be an acceptable position to hold in our society, but apparently not.

Quote of the Day - Hisham Kandil Edition

"We ask the American government to take a firm position toward this film's producers within the framework of international charters that criminalise acts that stir strife on the basis of race, colour or religion."
Hisham Kandil, Prime Minister of Egypt, statement on the attacks on the U.S. Embassy in Cairo.

You will likely never see this word on this blog again unless it is a direct quote from someone else, but here it goes

Fuck You***

Under no circumstances do you have any business involving yourself in our right to free speech.  Christianity is mocked constantly in this country.  I have yet to riot or storm an embassy over it.  The group that faces the most hate crimes against them in the world as well as in America are the Jews.  Do you have a statement on that Mr. Prime Minister?

Read his entire pathetic statement here.

*** I rarely swear and when I do, this isn't the word I normally use.  Obviously I am angry.

Quote of the Day - Governor Tim Pawlenty Edition

"When you have a situation that is unfolding rapidly, a lot of times people fall back to first instinct, and in that first instinct, which is more reflex than strategic thought sometimes, you get to see what they think is most important,"
Governor Tim Pawlenty on the brouhaha that has erupted over the first statement given by Governor Romney after the news broke that two of our embassies were attacked yesterday.

Apparently the very first statement was given before the crowd had actually scaled the walls of the embassy.  The media seems to think that it was done as a way to try to save their lives and restore calm.  I happen to disagree.   A tweet was sent out after the compound had been breached:
"This morning's condemnation still stands. As does our condemnation of unjustified breach of the Embassy."
Hillary Clinton's first statement (read below) talks about offending people and religious tolerance before it speaks to the acts of violence.  Any way you cut it, the first and gut reaction by the Obama administration was to apologize for some video that very few people in the United States knew anything about, uploaded by a man who is regularly mocked by Christian conservatives.

The U.S. Apologizes Again – Cairo Embassy Issues an Apology for “Abuse of Free Speech”

Another stain on American under President Obama and his bizarre sense of what rights mean.  As I am sure most have heard by now, the U.S. Embassy in Cairo was stormed by protesters, our flag was removed and burned, then a black flag was raised in its place.  I have heard conflicting reports about the black flag, on said it was the flag of al Qaeda, another report says it was simply a flag with Islamic symbols on it.  Either way, it doesn't belong raised above on of our embassies.

All of this ruckus apparently started due to the nutty so-called Pastor in Florida who was due to have an internet mock trial of Mohammed. In response our embassy put out the following statement:
The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims – as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions. Today, the 11th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, Americans are honoring our patriots and those who serve our nation as the fitting response to the enemies of democracy. Respect for religious beliefs is a cornerstone of American democracy. We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others
I deal with all kinds of things said about Christians in this country.  My gosh the Democratic National Convention booed about having God being put back into its platform.  Has any government agency released a statement to the people who were offended by that?  Rabid atheists go out of their way every year at Christmas to put up the most incendiary billboards to tweak Christians.  I don't recall any statement about that either.

Look, I don't bash Muslims, I truly don't.  But I am sorry, if you say you want freedom then you are going to be offended.  That is part of it.  Get over it.

I also would like to see the passage in the Constitution that says that free speech can be squelched if it offends another's religious beliefs.  Please show it to me.  While you are at it, please explain this to me too.

Is it election day yet?

Judge Jaqueline Hatch Needs to Resign

In Flagstaff Arizona an off duty cop named Robb Gary Evans got drunk, flashed his badge to enter a bar for free, then walked up to a woman, slid his hand up her skirt and fondled her genital region.  The unnamed victim showed a great deal of courage by not only reporting this incident to the police, but by following it through to a logical conclusion; a guilty verdict of sexual abuse.

The judge in this very sad case not only gave Mr. Evans no jail time, he also doesn't have register as a sex offender.  But to make matters worse this is what she told the victim in the case:
If you wouldn't have been there that night, none of this would have happened to you. I hope you look at what you've been through and try to take something positive out of it. You learned a lesson about friendship and you learned a lesson about vulnerability."
Ugh.  What kind of 19th century thinking is this?  Women who are sexually assaulted are not to blame for someone else's disgusting behavior.

Judge Hatch was originally seated after being selected by a bi-partisan panel then Governor Jan Brewer made the final selection.  She ran for re-election in 2010 and won with 52% of the vote.  If she doesn't resign, lets hope that the people of that county are reminded of this and decide to send her into retirement where she belongs.
The Judge has since issued an apology after this made international news:
"It was never my intention to make a situation worse for any victim,"
What did she think was going to happen when she made her statement?  A woman going up against a police officer on a charge of sexual abuse is, at best, a very difficult thing to do.  While I had never heard of this case until now, I am sure that locally it was quite a story.  During the sentencing hearing another cop testified for the convicted felon:
"These people put their lives on the line every day," Evan's former partner said. "I hope you'll be lenient on him. To me, this is one way we can give a little back to those in law enforcement who give so much to us everyday."
I don't care what a cop does everyday, once he crosses the line into criminal behavior he is like any other defendant.  It is very well-known that cops stick up for other cops that are dirty or otherwise engage in criminal behavior, The Blue Wall as it is called.  So the fact that victim pushed ahead with her case says to me that she has a great deal of courage.  The judge slapped her in the face with her comments.

Please let me know who is running against this judge in 2014 so I can write them a check.  Republicans wonder why the left keeps up with its "war on women" theme.  Well, here you go.
