Jane Russell Dead at 89

Jane Russell, the curvy bombshell from the 40's and 50's died today at her home surrounded by her children. One of her most infamous roles was besides Marilyn Monroe in Gentleman Prefer Blondes and her infamous pin up shot of her posing on some hay.

She was a big supporter of adoption causes and spent the second half of her life working on these issues and getting hard to place children into permanent homes. She also was known for having bible studies classes at home. Hmm, I wonder how popular those would be today?

She wasn't just beautiful and talented, but she had big heart and cared for children.

Things that Make You Say Hmm

The teachers in Wisconsin will still have no deductible and their payments will still be less than 28% of what federal government workers pay.

The media has been pretty much silent when it comes to the pro union protesters who carry signs with images of Hilter and Mubarak.

Jesse Jackson once complained that abortion was black genocide and used Margaret Sanger's words as proof.

The Charlie Sheen Train Wreck Continues - Today Show Interview

Is it any shock that Sean Penn is giving comfort to him?  He is living with two women?  How stupid are these women?  It really is sad to see what his life has become.  This is the wreck you can't just drive by without looking at.

Herman Cain at Tea Party Summit

Below is the speech that Herman Cain gave at the Tea Party Summit over the weekend.  He was interrupted about 20 times for standing ovations.

He is a charismatic speaker.  He also was the winner of the straw poll for the attendees and Ron Paul won the online straw poll.

Has The Tea Party Patriots Gone Too Mainstream?

I just finished reading a three-part series on The Tea Party Patriots. The premise of the series is that they are being investigated. Although, from what I can gather from the articles it was simply them doing the investigations and CREW also requesting an investigation. It is no real secret that CREW is a left leaning organization that only talks about the worst of the worst when it comes to democrats yet will ask for investigations of republicans based on virtually nothing. The publication writing this series is Mother Jones. Not exactly a fair and balanced entity when it comes to The Tea Party and the principles on which it was founded on.

But, the series did raise some very interesting questions about TPP. You may remember that TPP was given a million dollar donation shortly before the mid-term elections to help with the get out the vote efforts. Jenny Beth Martin, the head of TPP had said in quite a few interviews after the donation became public said that money would be filtered down to the local groups in order to help with the efforts.

The writer has found many local group heads that have said that never happened, although it was promised. It also has interviewed a few former leaders within the organization that have some serious issues with Jenny Beth Martin and Mark Meckler. In most cases the money from the donations came with the price tag of turning over the lists of the local groups. Some of the leaders and coordinators of the local groups have voiced some serious concerns with the fundraising groups that they have decided to align themselves with and the contracts that they have signed. By turning over the local lists, the names have been given to these high level fundraising groups, which has raised the hackles of some local coordinators and just plain members.

Having been in the fundraising field for more than a decade I can tell you first hand that there are many groups out there that have terrible reputations and keep a much larger percentage for themselves then what is needed in order to still be a profitable business. It seems that many of the fundraisers that they are using are very cozy with the GOP establishment. Not that is not necessarily in and of itself a bad thing, but it could give an impression that isn't going to be favorable to many of the grassroots activists.

The MDS deal with TPP is anything but cheap. Documents filed with the Colorado secretary of state indicate that MDS will keep at least 70 percent of the money it raises—nearly $3 out of every $4. In 2005, California's attorney general released a report (PDF) showing that MDS was among a number of fundraising companies that returned less than 15 percent of what they raised to some of the charities they worked for. Out of more than $585,000 MDS pulled in for the Concerned Women for America, for instance, not a dime went back to the nonprofit group, according to the report

Jenny Beth Martin is making a salary of $6,000 per month and it also seems has an expense account that pays for her travels across the country. For this amount of money it would seem that many of these tea party groups are a little unhappy with how they have handled their non-profit status. They have filed for 501 (C)4 status. This is basically a lobbying group. They can participate in elections and work for specific candidates but that work is not tax deductible. The upside to using this status is that they are under no legal obligation to release donor information. Which for an organization that has such media scrutiny it allows people to feel that they can give money without their names being released to a sometimes hostile media, the problem is that even people within the organization can't find out information on the donor lists. An organization that has called for transparency has chosen one of the least transparent ways of dealing with its finances.

This has led many grassroots activists to question the motives of some involved. TPP is also getting a reputation of dismissing any local group that questions anything about the finances of the group. Jenny Beth's husband is also involved in the group and he has a trouble background when it comes to finances and has had some serious issues with the IRS which was in part of what destroyed his business. It is very hard to say if his business failed due to any other reason other than the economy going south several years ago. Heavens knows that many businesses went belly up over the past three years through no fault of the owners. But some grassroots activists are asking why would someone who has a background of not paying his taxes is involved with an organization that has yet to file any IRS disclosure forms. It has made some leery.

Mother Jones has also found some former paid employees who were offered great sums of money in return for signing non disclosure agreements. Obviously they refused the $20,000 payments and have spoken to members of the press with their concerns with how the money is being used. Some feel that Martin and Meckel are more interested in making money and fame for themselves then they are in the true message of The Tea Party.

It is very likely that in a movement of political novices that egos get bruised and just plain personalities have gotten in the way and have caused misunderstandings. But it is possible that some or maybe even all of what Mother Jones is saying is true. My recommendation would be for people to give at the more local level and keep on eye on the people who are in charge. The Tea Party has potential to become a powerful force in the next presidential election. It also has the potential to be hi-jacked by people who are looking to take advantage of people who are just interested in helping their country and are sincerely worried about the direction we are taking. Just remember if something doesn't feel right, ask questions. Transparency within The Tea Party movement shouldn't be any different than what we are asking of our government officials. There are some Tea Party groups who are living up to these standards, one has gone as far as to keep it financial records online for anyone to see. If we are going to give our money to these groups, we should be expecting them to live by the practices that they are preaching.

Rummy with Jon Stewart

There are two more videos if you want to see the entire interview. I found it very interesting.

Smitty over at The Other McCain has strongly recommended Rummy's new book. He is currently over in Afghanistan and his kindle has kept him company.

If Obama Loses WaPo Does the Rest of the Country Follow?

Is President Obama losing WaPo? They don't seem all too thrilled with how he is handling the situation in Libya.

Mr. Obama has spoken only once in public about the Libyan crisis. He has yet to condemn Mr. Gaddafi by name. He has not called for an end to the regime. He has expressed concern about protecting U.S. citizens - most of whom were evacuated from Libya on Friday - but has showed no intention of protecting the Libyans whom Mr. Gaddafi is slaughtering. The White House appears content to allow France and other nations to take the lead. But the reality is that as long as the president of the United States remains passive, the help Libyans are begging for will not come.
Not only did they go after the president, they also spoke some truth about the U.N.

But by late Friday the most notable measure he had announced was the dispatch of Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton for a discussion at the feckless and discredited U.N. Human Rights Council - on Monday
Wow! That is a sentence that will make the heart of any conservative go all a flutter. While I am sure that they wouldn't want to go as far as I would and stop giving our hard-earned tax dollars to an organization that is Anti-Semitic among many other things. The United Nations has become a joke. The fact that they Libya on the council for human rights says everything that anyone needs to hear. They have long ago walked away from the original charter (which I fully support) and have fallen to corruption and bigotry to do its business.

It seems that President Obama has decided that he is going to follow behind the U.N. and Nato. Two organizations that can't seem to do much of anything unless the U.S. leads. So, I guess the people of Libya will continue to be slaughtered in the streets until Obama figures out what should be as plain as the nose on his face. He wanted to be the leader of the free world, so isn't it time that he stands up and leads?

Read the whole piece here, you won't be disappointed.

The Acorn Doesn't Fall Far From the Tree

The DNC had a meeting today in Washington, DC. On the agenda was a resolution to honor the former speaker Nancy Pelosi and her accomplishments. Nanny's daughter, Christine was on the committee that was handling the resolutions and felt that they did not go far enough in the praise they heaped on her mommy.

Christine gave the changes to the committee after she and her mother had discussed them the night before.

"You think I'm kidding," Christine Pelosi added, to surprised laughter from the room. The proposed changes, she indicated, came out of a discussion with her mother.

First, Pelosi wanted to add a mention of her fight against HIV and AIDS, because it was "why she went to Congress." Then, she wanted to insert a paragraph on her "accomplishments for equality," mentioning the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009 and the repeal of "don't ask, don't tell" in December.

"Finally, since, as she said, 'I'm not going anywhere,' she wanted to add, in the final 'whereas' clause, '...and will continue the fight for America's working families,'" Christine Pelosi said

Seriously? How delusional are these two women? Did they add in anything about her saying that she was going to have the most transparent congress in history and did nothing but have meetings behind closed doors. Or did it mention the amount of debt she put this country in?

Is it any wonder that she needed a full-sized jet to fly her to California? It is the only thing that could hold her oversized ego.

Charlie Sheen Has Truly Gone Roun' the Bend

The producers at CBS have decided to shut down the hit show Two and Half Men after Charlie Sheen's tirade on the Alex Jones Radio Show, where he called the producer some pretty vile names.  He also said he didn't have to work with idiots and could easily go work on movies.  Charlie decided in his infinite wisdom to pen an open letter that he gave to TMZ

What does this say about Haim Levine [Chuck Lorre] after he tried to use his words to judge and attempt to degrade me. I gracefully ignored this folly for 177 shows ... I fire back once and this contaminated little maggot can't handle my power and can't handle the truth. I wish him nothing but pain in his silly travels especially if they wind up in my octagon. Clearly I have defeated this earthworm with my words -- imagine what I would have done with my fire breathing fists. I urge all my beautiful and loyal fans who embraced this show for almost a decade to walk with me side-by-side as we march up the steps of justice to right this unconscionable wrong.

Remember these are my people ... not yours...we will continue on together...

Charlie Sheen
It is truly amazing with all his problems that he isn't dead or in jail.  It is truly a sad sight to watch.  One can only hope that he gets the help he so obviously needs.  I feel sorry for his children, most of them are old enough to understand what is going on.  The only PSA needed for not doing drugs is his bio.

Allen West Calls Out Jupiter Mayor

The Mayor of Jupiter, Florida told Congressman West that the people of the city are happy with the status quo on illegal immigration and city funds going to support illegals.  The people at the town hall seem to disagree.

About That "Journalist" That Punked Gov. Walker

A so-called journalist made a phone call to Governor Walker of Wisconsin pretending to be one of the Koch brothers, one of the left's favorite targets. The conversation lasted about twenty minutes. There wasn't really any gotcha moments in the phone conversation that went viral. The governor didn't say anything that he has not said publicly. In some ways it may actually be a good thing, obviously he never talked to him before.

But, what I find to be the most interesting is the person who made the phone call. His name is Ian Murphy.

So, 4000 rubes are dead. Cry me the Tigris. Another 30,000 have been seriously wounded. Boo fucking hoo. They got what they asked for—and cool robotic limbs, too.

Yes, he wrote an article on the troops. Which he called F*CK The Troops. He goes on......

Here’s where America’s military lust becomes a true perversion. If we truly valued military prowess, John McCain would be viewed as a failure. But duty alone is enough to inspire our gratitude. Hence the left’s tendency to obligatorily praise the troops while decrying the sum of their actions. Good thing, too, because this war is unwinnable
A real winner based on these comments. What I want to know is how exactly is this person considered a journalist? This article isn't journalism, it is opinion. Not that there is anything wrong with that if that is how it is identified, but be honest about it. Rush, Hannity, Beck, and others they are opinion guys. That is made clear.

Read the whole article here if you have the stomach for it. This man is a far left lunatic. Being against the war is one thing, talking about the troops who are willing to give their lives so he has the freedoms to say these vile things is totally another.

Freedom Works Employee Attacked by Union Thugs - UPDATES

I am trying to remember when the last time a tea party protester attacked a union member.  Oh, yeah it hasn't happened.

The union thugs decided to protest outside of the office of Freedom Works this afternoon and Tabitha and several other employees went outside with their cameras.  You can see for yourself what happened.

Luckily, Tabitha is perfectly fine.  I tweeted her a little earlier and I will be dropping off some cupcakes to their offices tomorrow, because after all chocolate can cure almost anything. Since she is fine and was not hurt, we can almost laugh about it.  But that is this time.  What will happen next time?  In Boston a tea party protester was attacked by the union thugs.  How far are these people willing to go to keep the gravy train on the tracks?  Hang onto your hats ladies and gents, it is going to be a bumpy ride.

UPDATES;

I stopped by the Freedom Works offices this afternoon to see Tabitha.  She is perfectly fine and was as cheerful as she always is.  She has decided to press charges and the local police have a copy of the video.  At this point it is up the police to identify the man in question, and he may not be local.  The people who were protesting came on buses so heavens only knows where he is from.

I Hope She Isn't an English Teacher

My Latest Adventures

I have been very busy of late.  I am working on some projects that are very exciting and I am hopeful will make a difference long term.

  1. I have decided to become a field director for Northern Virginia for Raging Elephants.Org.  I am sure that you have heard of this organization even if you have not realized it.  They were the ones who put up the Martin Luther King was a Republican billboard in Shelia Jackson Lee's district in Texas.  The Black Panthers didn't take too kindly to this.  The latest billboard is The GOP is the new black.  The goal is to outreach to the minority communities that are conservative in nature, but don't vote their values.

2. Virginia has off year elections so our entire legislator is up for election this year.  I will be doing some fundraising and working for Tito "The Builder" Munoz.  You may remember Tito from the news coverage during the McCain campaign.  He came after the Joe the Plumber.  Tito lives in Northern Virginia and will be running for the legislator in November.  He gave a rip roaring speech at the last 9/12 March:

Tito and his wife Debbie are good people and I will be proud to help him get elected to the Virginia Legislator.  We are gearing up to get everything started in the next week or two.  I am going to use my fundraising skills to help get the word out and raise some much needed funds.  We already have gotten some big names to sign up to help get the word out and do some fundraisers.  Congresswoman Michele Bachmann will be helping us out, so that will be very exciting and I am looking forward to working with her.

Tito is a true believer in American Exceptionalism and has proven with his own life that the American Dream is attainable if you work hard enough.  Tito's website is not going to up for another few days, and as soon as it is I will put up a link and you can check it out, and I hope you will give whatever you can afford to elect a true American patriot to serve in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

The Tolerant Left Pictorial

Seriously, is there anything that they won't blame on Sarah Palin?

Again, these are the people who are teaching our kids?

Lovely.

At least they are getting to the true heart of the matter now.

Some Ironies of the Union Protests in Wisconsin

The left is always talking about "fairness" yet the teachers are taking notes from doctors saying they are sick when they are not.  If they are too sick to go to work why are they standing out in the cold?

Doctors are putting their hard earned licenses on the line in order to give fake notes to people who want them to pay for their pensions and health insurance.

The left are carrying signs that are talking about violent rape of conservative women and Fox News reporters.  I thought it was the tea party that are the violent ones?

The president feels that he needs to get involved in state budget issues when his last budget does nothing to lower the debt of the federal budget.

The teachers feel the need to tell their students only one side of what is going on with the state budget issues.  I thought it was their job to teach the kids to think critically?

If the legislators in Wisconsin have said they may be out of state for "weeks".  If they make enough to stay on the lam for that long, I am thinking they are overpaid.

Why was it that when Obama was elected with big majorities the Republicans were told that they "won", but the legislators in Wisconsin think it is ok to behave like spoiled children?

Have the teachers not figured out that they will still be paying less for benefits and pensions than the average person does?

Collective bargaining is not a right.  Where exactly in the constitution does it say they have that "right"?

Teachers have said they are doing this for the kids, why then are the schools being closed down?

Are the students still going to be agreeing with the teachers when they are still in school in late June?

The school systems in Wisconsin are rated at C-.  The tax payers should be paying for the majority of their benefits when they are barely average?

The average salary and benefits packages for the teachers in WI is six figures.  I looked up the rent for a two bedroom luxury apartment in Green Bay, it is $820 per month.

Elections have consequences.  The Governor campaigned on these issues, the people of Wisconsin voted him.  Apparently they are OK with what he is trying to do.

Why is that the unions are busing in people from other areas of the country, but are still calling The Tea Party astro-turf?

Herman Cain & Tea Party Converges on Wisconsin Capitol to Support Governor Walker

The Tea Party has the Governor's back.  There should be no surprise that this was going to happen.  Governor Brown campaigned on these issues.  He was very straight-forward about what his plan was and what it would involve.

The unions need to stop lying to people.  They are not being asked to lose any pay or lose any benefits.  They will only be asked to pay a larger percentage of their benefits.  They will still be paying lower than average amounts.

I have also heard people say that the governor didn't do enough to negotiate with the unions.  I have one question for them.  How exactly do you negotiate with people who last summer allowed people to be laid off because they were unwilling to give up their insurance coverage of Viagra?

Should We Kill Off College Students Too? - Abortion Better than Raman Noodles

I pretty much remember every person I have known that has ever lived in a college dorm eating Ramen Noodles at some point or another. They are really cheap and most college students don't have a great deal of money. They also are not quite as picky as adults and will eat whatever it is that fills them up.

Should we just line them up and shoot them? I mean it is way too late to abort them, but maybe we can just kill them off one by one.

Gwen Moore, Dem from the great state of WI seems to think so. I mean eating Ramen Noodles seems to be a fate worse than death. I will be honest I avoid Ramen Noodles, the sodium content is too high for my taste. I am not a big salt eater. But if I had to make a choice between Ramen Noodles and abortion, I would take the noodles.

Just gotta love the liberal mindset.

Student Protesters in WI

Here is a high school senior talking about the protests going on at the Wisconsin Capitol Building.

Hmm, lets see.  Wisconsin schools are rated at about a C-.  He also talks about taxing the rich to pay for the benefits, this state is already one of the highest taxed states already.  The teachers are not going to be getting a pay decrease, all that they are being asked to do is to contribute to their benefits and pensions, otherwise their will be layoffs.

He also is talking about how the Governor has caused these problems, he has only been in office for about a month.  This is something that existed before he got there. The former governor, a democrat, admitted before leaving office that spending cuts were mandatory for the state to try and stave off them falling off the financial cliff.

THERE IS NO MORE MONEY!!!!!!

I admire the kid for being involved in the system, I just have to wonder how much of what he is saying are his original ideas or is he just being given one side of the story from a teacher who has a financial motive to not present both sides of the story?  Did his teacher tell him he is going to have to pay increased taxes for the rest of his life to pay for his/hers pension?  Did his teacher tell him that his class sizes will increase if layoffs are done?  Did his teacher explain that when you over tax the rich they move, so the revenues actually go down?

Herman Cain on Special Report - When People Hear Me Once They Remember Me

Public Sector Unions Uprising

In Wisconsin public sector unions have surrounded the Capitol Building in protest of the bill that will basically put an end to the teachers union.  It should have come as no surprise that I am no fan of public sector unions.  Unions are meant to protect workers against their employers.  We shouldn't have anything to fear from working for the government.  While I understand that in some ways it is easier to make salary decisions as a group than it is on an individual basis.

The problem is that these public unions have become so powerful that the rest of us are getting screwed.  Many of these unions have not cared for the tax payer funded retirement funds, that we will have to pay for a second time.   This is the reason that they lack all creditability.  So much of the problems that the states are facing are due to the fact that they have refused to put up a fair share of the costs for the benefit packages that they receive.  In New Jersey teachers generally pay into the benefit packages slightly over $100K over the period of their career and take out more than a million.  How can we possibly sustain that?

In many instances the unions are asked to put in an additional percentage into their benefits or face layoffs.  The UNIONS choose lay offs.  They then go out to the media and make statements about how the government (usually republicans) is against education and anti teacher.  The only chance these states have is to break up these unions.  Otherwise they will bankrupt the states that were silly enough to sign these contracts that they couldn't afford.

All the polls show that public sector unions popularity is at an all time low.  I wonder why?  The rest of us are watching our taxes increase to pay for benefits that we don't get.  Many of us haven't gotten a raise in years, some of us have lost our jobs and are running out unemployment benefits.  We are supposed to be shedding tears because they are being asked to spend an additional 7% towards the Cadillac benefit packages that they have received?

I have no problem with them protesting against a bill they feel strongly against.  But, do they really need to bring their students with them?  Do the parents of these kids know that they are there?  Do the kids even understand why they are there?  From the videos that I have seen, they don't seem to.  They are basically striking illegally and closing down school systems across the state.  That is great message to teach the kids, I mean isn't that the lesson that we want the teachers to giving to our children?  Don't worry about the rules, just do what you want when you want.

They, like everyone else in this country, need to realize the gravy train is over.  We can no longer afford to pay these benefits.  The public sector workers are going to have pay towards their benefits and retirements just like the rest of us do.  Welcome to the real world.

Head on over to Althouse to see the mess that they left at the Capitol, you can also see the new civility in action.

Anderson Cooper Confronts Nir Rosen

Now I am even more convinced this guy is an ass and a liar.  What I find so fascinating about this is that people on the left still don't get it.  The far left could care less about anyone or anything but themselves and the viewpoints that they hold.  Anderson Cooper is far from a right wing nut, so why the hate Nir?    Listen carefully to what he says at the end.  He reveals himself in all his pathetic glory.  His real issue is that a white woman is getting attention for being sexually assaulted.  Is it ok to attack white women?

Creeping Progressivism and the Catholic Church

I came across an article today regarding the shrinking numbers of attendees to Catholic Churches in Europe today. Not only are they losing parishioners, they are in dangerously short supply of priests as well. Within the next decade the numbers will become an alarming shortage in Germany and Switzerland among others.

In order to nip this problem in the bud some theologians have gotten together and created an open declaration to phase out the celibacy rules for priests. I am not Catholic so to me this isn't a big deal. My pastor is married with children and I don't feel that has affected his job performance in any way. Actually, I think his family adds a great deal to our church community. But, I can't speak for other Catholics and the views that they will hold on this issue. Although, there is no biblical reasoning for this. It seems that even the Pope at one time agreed with this sentiment, so maybe this could happen down the road.

The issue is that they are not stopping at allowing priests to marry. They additionally would like to see the Catholic Church ordain women. Again, not really a big deal to me, I have never had a woman as a head of my church, but I don't think it would hurt anything. They further this by wanting the church to recognize divorce and allow same-sex marriage. I would think that devout Catholics need to stand firmly against this.

Some good news/bad news is that the Catholic Church does have numbers that are growing. The areas of the world where the numbers are going are mainly in South American Countries. The bad news part of this is the fact that many of those churches have been taken over by the "Social Justice" side of the Catholic Church. Churches that preach Social Justice pervert the Gospels. It is that plain and that simple. No where in the bible does it say that you are required to give to the state to help the poor. While there is plenty about helping the less fortunate and tithing, but it is to be done by the individual, not by the state. The roots of social justice Catholicism is communist based.

+Social Justice Prayer+

Almighty and eternal God, may your grace enkindle in all of us a love for the many unfortunate people whom poverty and misery reduce to a condition of life unworthy of human beings.

Arouse in the hearts of those who call you Father a hunger and thirst for social justice and for fraternal charity in deeds and in truth.

Grant, O Lord, peace to souls, peace to families, peace

The Four Main Aspects of Social Justice

1.SOLIDARITY

Living as though other people and living things matter. Examples of this would be:

FASTING in solidarity with the hungry, the oppressed etc

LIVING SIMPLY. Do I really need all those gadgets coming out in the stores? Recycling where you can; being a good steward of all our natural resources and of our planet that God has given us.

PRAYING for the poor, the homeless, for an end to sweatshops, etc.

2.EDUCATION

We are obligated to educate ourselves and others about social justice. Read all you can about the subject. Study all you can about all the social issues facing us in the world today. Spread the word about these issues. Examples :Global Warming, the natural disasters, sweatshops, the death penalty, opressed and persecuted Christians in the Sudan etc. ...............everthing!

3.COMMUNITY ORGANIZING

Get involved in the community! Join or start a food pantry. Start a neighborhood watch program if one is needed. Start or join a group in your parish that studies the issues of the community/world and decides what can be done about the problems facing us. Start a volunteer voter registration group. Organize the community in consolidating the efforts of giving its help to the poor. Join Habitat for Humanity etc. etc. ...Just do it!

4.ADVOCACY

This is giving a voice to those who have no voice, that is, the poor, the sick, the shut in, the unborn, the dying, the disadvantaged, the immigrants, those imprisoned, the homeless, racial minorities etc. We are called to speak out! Write a letter to the editor, join a march, call your elected officials and let them know how you feel. Very often legislation gets passed to the disadvantage of many, because the elected official simply didn't know how people feel about the subject. This is because no one bothered to call!

to our country and peace among nations. Amen

These people have characterized Jesus as a "Liberal Jew" and I have even seen Him called him a communist. No where in the scriptures will you find justification for either of these statements. Jesus very clearly defined the separation of church and state.

“Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s
Matthew 22:21

Again, I am not a Catholic and I have no dog in this fight, but if I were a Catholic I would be standing firmly against it this. This is nothing more than creeping progressivism. This is an attempt to turn the church into yet another feel good no real responsibility for your choices kinda place. Sort of like your local pub; you just show up where everyone knows your name and you'll meet someone named Norm. Accepting Christ into your life is not meant to be easy. Living your life in the image of Him gives your life an anchor and direction. It forces you to take a good hard look at yourself and to take responsibility for your own actions. By making it that you are responsible for someone else's salvation it then in turn makes them responsible for yours as well. Which means you can then justify cheating here and there and say to yourself 'well my neighbor will do the heavy lifting' and then allowing yourself to live however you choose. Once that starts to happen you have lost your moral compass.

Much of the problems with declining numbers in the Church seem to coincide with the revelations of sexual abuse of minors within the ranks of the church. While it is perfectly understandable that people may feel wary of the hypocrisy that the church had shown by not taking care of the problems swiftly and severely. This doesn't mean that you completely change the entire institution. If we start dumbing down the Church what is really left? Where does the faithful go?

Nanny Pelosi's Latest Hit - Republicans Put Woman and Children Last

Seriously, this woman is delusional and is need of medical care. When has this woman voted against one piece of legislation that kills the unborn? Not only does she fully support late-term abortion rights, she could care less what this does to women psychology. She also talks about fiscal responsibility in this clip. Really? Does even she know what is in Obamacare? The waste and the fraud that a law that size will inevitably bring about is going to be stunning and will go a long way to bankrupting this nation.

Nancy was the main power behind ridding the District of Columbia of the voucher program. A program that was working and changing the lives of the poor in that city. She talks about out educating the rest of the world. Oh, please this woman is a shill for the unions that have publicly stated that their main goal is watch out for the teachers, and to hell the kids in the school system. The NEA is worried about power not about educating children. She is one of their largest supporters.

Every person in this country is going to have give up something before almost all give up everything. The size of our federal government must shrink and reduce costs. Yes, some government employees will have to lose their jobs. Plenty of which are duplicating work and are not necessary. That is just reality. Deal with Nanny. The gravy train is over. Seriously, go the help that you so obviously need. You are a multi millionaire, you can afford it.

Dennis Miller has called this woman bat sh*t crazy, and he is right.

Paging Jesse Jackson

Where is Jesse Jackson and Co. after the unwarranted and despicable attack on GOP Presidential hopeful Herman Cain? Herman Cain's speech was very well received at the conservative gathering CPAC on Friday afternoon. Many felt his was one of the best of the weekend.

What I find so sad about this attack on Mr. Cain is that he is old enough to remember what it was like to live under oppression. He is in his mid 60's and was born in raised in the south. In many of speeches he talks about how his father's dreams were relatively small in comparison to many, but one of his dreams was to give his children an education that would help improve their lives. His dad worked long hours in order to save money and purchase a single family home, which he did. Both of his children received college degrees. He taught his sons that hard work has its own rewards. Herman held onto these beliefs throughout his life and they have paid off. He has been a successful man by anyone's standards. He is now working towards becoming the presidential nominee for President of the United States, the "most powerful man in the world".

If you watched his speech you will see that he on a few occasions he showed his sleeves. What he was telling the audience was that he nothing up his sleeves, but a desire to right the ship of the country he loves and calls home. This was characterized in this article as:

Then Cain feigns swimming after rolling up his sleeves to show them his black skin and how he is a hardworking negro (not like those other ones).

Another of the complaints is that the music played during his introduction was from Motown. The song was "Ain't No Mountain High Enough". Which I personally find to be the perfect song to describe his run for the presidency. This is a man who has had to overcome a great deal in his life to get to this point. He also is a very long shot for the nomination, not based on his color, but based on the fact that he has never held public office. This will take people to take pause about his experience.

We always need a monkey in the window, for he/she reminds us of our humanity while simultaneously reinforcing a sense of our own superiority. Sadly, there are always folks who are willing to play that role because it pays so well.

As you know, I find black garbage pail kids black conservatives fascinating not because of what they believe, but rather because of how they entertain and perform for their White Conservative masters.

Instead, Herman Cain’s shtick is a version of race minstrelsy where he performs “authentic negritude” as wish fulfillment for White Conservative fantasies. Like the fountain at Lourdes, Cain in his designated role as black Conservative mascot, absolves the White racial reactionaries at CPAC of their sins. This is a refined performance that Black Conservatives have perfected over many decades and centuries of practice

The person who penned this "article" writes under a pseudonym, he can't even be bothered to put his real name to this filth. I realize that may sound hypocritical because my name is not on this blog, but I know that if you google my name it comes up, so I am not hiding anything.

The real question really isn't about this article nor is it about what is said in this article. This is the typical race baiting that goes on to any conservative of color. The real question is where is the NAACP, Jesse Jackson, and the Al Sharpton's of the world? This is no different from comments that were made on video of Justice Thomas. The NAACP recently released a statement saying that they would not be addressing those comments directly. Why not? If these organizations and people really want to be taken seriously than they cannot let comments like these go.

One of the worst things that these groups and these people are doing is making that much harder for the next black president and if they don't care about that what is this doing to our democracy? Herman Cain is a conservative, would he like the policies of President Obama if he happened to be white instead of black? The answer is no. This is not about race, it is about policy. The people who write these articles are not only just showing themselves to be thoughtless, they are showing themselves to be anti-American.

Mr. Jackson until you stand up and repudiate this type of talk, you have proven yourself (yet again) to be nothing more than race baiter who is a shill for the left. You watched Dr. King die in front of your eyes. Shame on you for allowing this good black man to be put down simply because he doesn't agree with your political beliefs. Simply because he doesn't buy into the notion that the as a black man he is a victim. Even after reading this article I am sure that Mr. Cain doesn't look at himself as victim, even though he most certainly was victimized by people who have bought the mantra you have been peddling for decades. Shame on you and your ilk for selling out those principles that Dr. King died for.

How Low Are You Willing to Go?

There is no doubt that our spending is out of control.  Obama released his budget today and the spending cuts are way too small and too much spending.  Even democrats have been largely silent on it.  But the question is how much are you willing to cut?

We have many difficult choices to make and I think it may be time that we start voicing how far we are willing to go.

We have to raise the retirement age.  Not right away, but over time this has to be done.  People are living longer, so working for another few years will be necessary.  Of course we can make adjustments to certain blue collar jobs that cause health issues.

For people who have a great deal of assets should be able to opt out of Medicare.  We may find that it will become mandatory at some point.  But where is that number?

We will need to cut defense.  This is not something that is easy for me to say, but it is necessary.  Now, I am not saying that we do anything that endangers our readiness in case we are attacked, but I would think that we can find plenty of waste.  After all it is government run, I find it impossible to believe that there isn't waste.

We need to cut the government workforce.

We need to audit every government agency.  I know someone who works at agriculture I think it is.  She told me her job takes her about 3 or 4 hours a day and she stretches it out to make it look like she is busy all day.  That needs to stop.  Since I live in area that has many government workers I hear stories about waste all the time.  The government is not efficient by any stretch of the imagination.  We could probably cut the workforce by 25% and have no change in the services whatsoever.  They may even be better.

Privatize the Post Office.

Some agencies just need to go all together.  The Department of Education is a complete waste of money.  They have a $70 billion budget and not one single child gets educated for that.  We may need to keep a percentage of that money to give to the states, but this will be less wasteful.  The closer it gets to the classroom, the less likely it will be wasted.

Many children in this country can be better educated in private schools for far less money.  Lets give families more choice.

Government employees need to pay a larger percentage of health benefits.  Both on the state and national level.

But these are pretty easy, and most thinking people will agree on these.  Now is where it gets more complicated.

Do we cut benefits to the men and women who have served our country in the armed forces?

Do we cut benefits to the poorest amongst us?

How much of the scientific and medical research and development do we cut?

How much of foreign aid do we cut?  The more financially unstable countries are, the more likely they are to start a war.  History shows that.  Some of that aid is in our national interest.

Do we give a one time buy out for Social Security to the very wealthy?  What happens if they run out of money before the die?

Do we partially privatize Social Security?  People were not ready hear that when Bush tried it.  Are they ready to hear it now?  Maybe not after the performance of the stock market over the past few years.

We are running out of time for the choices to be ours.  If keep spending and borrowing the choices will be harder to make and even more painful.

What are you willing to cut?

The Tea Party and The RNC

I had several interesting conversations over the weekend with people who worked to help elect some tea party candidates in November.  One has actually chosen to move to DC and is now working on The Hill for that same person.  Both are strongly conservative and like the message of The Tea Party.

But, they are both convinced that the Tea Party will be the reason that President Obama gets re-elected.  One was telling that while she was very happy to get the volunteers in to help her candidate, they were more problems than what they were worth.  They would refuse to use the phone banking systems once they found that the party paid for them, they wouldn't do the door knocking in the targeted way the campaign wanted them to and just all around gave her a hard time.  Again, the person she was working for was beloved by The Tea Party and because of them they were able to raise enough money to be competitive in the race when they were way down in the polls, but as the poll numbers raised, the support from the party did as well.  That was when the campaign was really able to afford more targeted campaigning.

Regardless of how you feel about the party and who they choose to stand behind financially, they play an important role in getting people elected.  The get out the vote efforts are usually paid for by the party as well as the phone systems that will allow a candidate to do advanced phone banking.  Any candidate would be crazy to turn that down.  I have heard people say that they won't send the party money and part of the reason is that they don't necessarily back the candidates that they want them to back.  While it is true that the party has to pick and choose, it wouldn't make sense for them to pour a great deal of limited resources into a race that doesn't look a win is possible.  It doesn't matter if they are truly a good candidate or not.  The money is limited and needs to be spent on the candidates that have a viable chance of winning.

Some of the people I spoke to are still smarting over the loss of some of the senate seats that they felt were winnable had it not been for the tea party, but that is neither here nor there at this point.  What's done is done and they need to get over it.  But there are some lessons to be learned by what they are saying.  Campaigns are very expensive and the party is necessary to help with that in many cases.  The Tea Party can't possibly fully finance every candidate that they like, especially in the next cycle when there will be a presidential election as well.

I am not sure what the lesson that I learned from these conversations was, but it was interesting to hear what they had to say.  I guess the main lesson that I learned was that if we really want to make a change it has to be done from within, and the tea party is going to have to work with the party in order to change to it.

Some Interesting Poll Numbers

PPP will be releasing some in depth polling tomorrow on the Republican cast of potential presidential nominees.

While it is no secret that they are left leaning this particular poll only used republicans.  The numbers are interesting:

Most Republicans don't like Ron Paul.  He has his very fervent followers, but in general the run of the mill republican is not interested. His approval rating is at 30%.

Republicans are not overly impressed with Donald Trump's decision to run for president.  His approval rate is at 29%.  Since everyone knows him, his numbers don't have much chance for improvement.

Most republicans feel that Sarah Palin wouldn't be a bad vice president, but don't feel she is qualified for the #1 seat.  While she has high approval ratings among republicans, they just don't see her as presidential material.  Only 29% feel she is qualified for president, while 46% say she would make a good VP.

Full poll will be released tomorrow.

How Low Can The Dems Go? - It Seems Pretty Darn Low

The controversy over Walmart building stores in D.C. is continuing.  The protests by the activists continue.  But, here comes the real low point

young people would get criminal records when they couldn't resist the temptation to steal.

Nice to know this is what they really think of themselves and each other.  This is what the dems really feel about the people who live in poor, urban, minority communties.  This is a quote from one of the commissioners on the city board

Apparently, even the residents feel the same way:

"There'll probably be a lot of shoplifting going on. They'll need a lot of security,"

Walmart is planning on opening four stores in the District.  These four stores will create 1200 jobs, the stores will be in lower income areas, they will be on bus routes that will allow the people in the area not to have to travel to Maryland or Virginia to go shopping.

What I find most frustrating about this article is that they are saying horrible things about the residents of the area, they then slam Walmart:

"I'll believe it when I see it," Mya Harris, 24, said skeptically. "Sure, you can put the store here, but what are they going to put inside it?"

It seems to me that you just can't make these people happy.  They scream that there are not jobs for the poor of the community and no affordable available shopping.  You give them the options to get those and they still complain about it.  I am no fan of Walmart so this isn't sticking up for them.  But this could be good for the community.  None of the areas of that the stores will be placed in have a great deal of small mom and pop businesses that are normally driven out of business by the larger Walmarts that they can't compete with.

Jonah Goldberg of NRO

Jonah Goldberg was given a journalist award at CPAC yesterday.  Sadly, he was unable to make the conference due to the accidental death of brother Joshua.  Say a prayer for the Goldberg family.

Rich Lowry came to accept the award on his behalf.  Under the circumstances it was a very funny speech.  I can't find an embeddable video, so here is the link that allow you to watch.  You will enjoy some of the stories, and he makes some very important points about American exceptionalism.

RIP Joshua and I hope that his wife finds some comfort in her time of sorrow.

CPAC - My Experience

CPAC 11 has come to end.  We spent the weekend listening to many so called presidential hopefuls and others within the conservative movement.  We also listened to Donald Trump of all people, who no one there thinks is a conservative.  He said the right things in some cases, but I doubt it fooled many people.  Don't get me wrong, I liked the speech but it wasn't convincing in any way.

We all know there was controversy surrounding this year's conference.  Mainly due to the inclusion of GOProud as a sponsor.  Many social conservative groups and politicians decided to forgo attending.  As you may know I questioned if it was a good idea for these groups to forgo, the answer to bad speech is more speech.  I firmly believe that.

Even though I don't like to, I will admit when I am wrong.  This is one of the times.  GOProud shouldn't have been allowed to be a sponsor.  The question of homosexuality aside, the real problem with them being there is identity politics.  Conservatives don't particularly care for putting people into groups.  This is exactly what they were trying to do, and they did it aggressively, too aggressively.  They also went way too far and started a dust up on Friday of the conference.  Did they really expect that there wouldn't be people in attendance that were against them being there?  Did they really expect that those people wouldn't protest it?  Protest is part of our political process and part of the American lexicon.  How they handled this was disgraceful and can't be tolerated.  I have this feeling that controversy won't be an issue next year.  No one is saying that they can't attend the conference, or can't vote republican.  But, stop trying to get the republican party to accept identity politics.  We want no part of that, if we did we may as well be liberals.

I had the honor of meeting fellow blogger Right Klik and his beautiful family.  His little daughter is just too cute and she was very well behaved during our lunch.  I know of another little girl just about the same age who wouldn't have been too happy to be sitting in a restaurant for that period of time.

Jill over at Pundit and Pundette came across something that said that the issue of abortion of was being made passe at CPAC.  I and others who attended have assured her that is not the case with the people who were there.  That is still a very important issue among conservatives and regardless if you personally agree with or not, it won't be going away anytime soon.  Virtually every major speaker brought up the issue of life and got huge applause when they did.  Many of the exhibitors and sponsors were solidly pro life.

I had a funny incident happen after the final speech.  I was having dinner with some fellow Smart Girls and needed to use the ladies room.  I go and the stalls are towards the back of the room and around a corner.  I just went to the closest stall, the door was open and because of the angle I couldn't see anything.  I open the door and to my surprise Bill Schutlz of Red Eye fame was in there doing his business.  I think I am scarred for life.  He was so drunk he didn't even know I was there.  I just turned around and went to the next stall.

The Straw Poll results came as no shock to me.  I knew before the conference started that Ron Paul would win.  Truly, I have found Ron Paul to be the SEIU of the right.  He buses in his fans and sells tickets at Campaign for Liberty's website at much lower prices than anyone else.  Which I don't think is right, but it is out my control.  Although with the new leadership at CPAC this may very well change.  My understand is that the new president is far less libertarian leaning than the outgoing one.  CPAC is meant to be a conservative gathering and Paulites in many ways are not conservative.  They are almost cult like in some respects.  That is why Ron Paul can't win.  People may agree with many parts of message, but he has many followers who are anti-Semitic and 9/11 truthers.  They didn't do themselves any favors when they couldn't help themselves and called the former Vice President a war criminal.  That smacks of the same vitriol that we hear from the likes of the Code Pink ladies.  You are not going to ingratiate yourselves to the right when you are saying and doing things like that.  If you are one of those people who think that Paulites are somewhat cult like, just wait until you see them travelling in packs like they do at CPAC.  Out of nowhere they just yell "Ron Paul", it is freaky.  Personally, I find them even scarier than the Obamanonts.

A few people told me that they felt that Allen West giving the Keynote Speaker on Saturday night was anti-climantic since in the past they have had such names as Glenn Beck, Rush, and others.  While Allen West isn't the name that most of the keynote speakers of the past have been, he may very well be in the future.  Allen West is the future of the conservative movement.  So maybe CPAC can one day say, I knew him when.

A Speech Worth Hearing

My understanding is that Gov. Barbour has said that until he says he is not running, don't count him out.  He has issues and will be a tough sell.  Sadly, his looks and his accent will be a hurdle.  It shouldn't be, but it will be.  He will be painted as the stereotypical southern racist.

This was a good speech and his words were very wise indeed.  I think he made some fans.  This man knows how to raise money.  So he may be able to make it to Super Tuesday.   He also has many friends within the party.

Join Me In A Dream - Allen West Gives Keynote At CPAC 11

Sadly, CSPAN cut off the end of his speech because of Obama's weekly address or some such thing.  He knocked it out of the park.

I will give a wrap up tomorrow, because I am little pooped.

Also, his introduction took forever.  Put it up to about the 7 minute mark.

I think he missed his plane.

Ann Coulter At CPAC

I love her snark.  There virtually is no one better.  But, during the Q&A she kind of lost me.  I really wonder how many people agree with her view on Egypt and Mubarak.  I think the fact that we are willing to stick up for a brutal dictator and say to the people who live under that person Hey Sucks to Be You is one of the reasons that they hate us.  But, there are no easy answers in the middle east, so I guess she is saying dance with the devil you know.  I am not sure what we can do differently, but to hear it put so bluntly was a little shocking to me.

Mitch Daniels at Ronald Reagan Dinnner at CPAC 11

This is a very dense speech, he didn't really leave room for applause lines.  But, if you really listen to what he is saying, you will see it is good stuff.

I have to be honest there are things that are wrong with him, but he has many good qualities as well.  He has been a very good governor, if he wasn't term limited he would win re election in a walk.   I think this was one of the highlights of the day.

Enjoy...........  Again it is audio only.  You can watch the full video on the CPAC page, but I can't figure out how to get the embed codes.

The American Dream is Under Attack - We Are Fighting Back Herman Cain at CPAC

I am telling you, I love this man.  This is just audio, but I can find a full one that will give you both audio and visual.  You need to hear this speech.

Now, tell me why I shouldn't love this guy.  Again, he is a long shot.  But for now, I don't see many better options out there.

CPAC Day One Recap

It was quite the day in Woodley Park Today.

Rumors started early on in the day that The Donald would be coming to speak. He was not on the original schedule that we received. I actually liked his speech. Don't get me wrong, I won't support him, but it was a good speech. That is until he bashed Ron Paul. The Paulites (which dominate the CPAC crowd) booed him. It was quite amusing.

Donald Rumsfeld was given the Defender of the Constitution award and he was introduced by his very close friend VP Dick Cheney. The Paulites didn't take too kindly to this either. They were called war criminals. Kinda rude I thought. But, I was not surprised.

I met Herman Cain this morning. I am even more smitten now. He is so charming and kind. He stood in the bar lobby and was willing to shake the hands and talk to anyone that wanted to talk to him. He was not surrounded by a bunch of handlers like most politicians are. He will be giving his speech Friday at I think it is 4:30 EST. He also hosted the blogger bash after today's session ended.

I was willing to give GOProud a chance. And while I still feel that allowing speech is important in our country, the people who were against it were right. There is an agenda. I don't know what the agenda is, but an agenda it is. They were trying to plaster everyone with stickers and had placards everywhere.

The Muslim group that was there kept a very low profile and while I didn't pay too much attention as I had other things to attend to, I think they were ok. They were way in the back and you really had to look for their booth. They stayed in their booth and engaged the people who went to speak with them. None of the woman were veiled.

I also got to meet Bridgette Gabriel today. Oddly we ran into each other in the ladies room. She was more than willing to answer my questions while were washing up. She is very lovely, articulate, and smart. I have travelled through the Middle East and I love Jordan. It is a beautiful country. We talked about my experiences as an American and she told me my experiences were what she expected, as they are kind and giving by culture. She also told me that the vast majority of Muslims just want to live their lives like I do, but since we can't tell who is who, we must pay attention to the dangers. She told me something very, very disturbing. Something like 90% of Egyptian woman have genital mutilations performed as children. That is amazing. She is not optimistic that the Brotherhood will be held off for long after Mubarak leaves. She also explained that Mubarak needs to save face and he will leave the country for medical treatments and that is how she believes it will end. At this point we were still under the impression that he would step down today.

I spent some time volunteering at the Smart Girl Politics booth. It was great to see that a group that is barely more than two years old to have such name recognition. We signed up some new people and did make a few bucks for a worthy organization.

I ran into Joe Klein. I guess he wants to go on MSNBC or Meet the Press and mock us.

I ran into Richard Dreyfuss of all people. I have no idea what he was doing there as we don't seem to be his type of crowd. I walked by a poster for him but again, I was in hurry to get to my next place and didn't read it. My biggest surprise was that he didn't try to perform a citizen arrest on Cheney. He agrees with the Paulities on that front, at least.

I really heart Paul Ryan. His speech was a little policy wonk, but I personally like that. If he does want to run for president one day, he needs to work on that. He will only fire up a small segment of the voters with his current style.

The morning started off with none other than Michele Bachmann. She of course got the crowd going. She made a funny joke about making sure she was looking at the right camera. You may not realize it, but she is tiny. And for me to say that, she is really tiny. Because I am very petite.

I missed most of Rand Paul. I was doing my volunteer work at the time.

Tomorrow features Mitt Romney. I am not going to that. I do want to hear what John Thune has to say. He is at 1 pm EST. I also would suggest catching Mike Lee who follow Thune. I saw him speak the other night at the Tea Party Townhall and he is very engaging. The ever so exciting Tim Pawlenty will also be speaking tomorrow afternoon. For me, besides Cain of course, the highlight of the day will be the seminar on school choice. They are rightly pushing the notion that it will help grow the conservative movement. I firmly believe that to be true. Education is topic that we can all agree we have to do better on. The home schooling, vouchers, and charters are becoming more popular within the inner cities. This is a chance for us to do outreach to those communities to spread the conservative message. Many minorities are more conservative than they think they are. They just don't know what republicans/conservatives are. They have an image in their heads that is simply wrong. It is up to us to try to show them we are not what Pelosi and Co. have told them we are. Ron Paul will be speaking mid afternoon. Not going to make that; not a fan. Gov. Perry's name is being brought out as a GOP presidential hopeful yet again. He has said he won't run, but who knows. And yes, Herman Cain is the final speaker of the day. LOVE HIM.

I took no pictures today. I wanted to enjoy the day and just absorb everything.

CSPAN 3 is televising it. If you don't have that channel it is being live streamed over the web.

Oh, there is no chance that anyone other Ron Paul will win the Straw Poll. The only question will be who comes in second.
